Features We Love

In 2027 the Honda Pilot received a mid cycle refresh featuring a bolder, more upright front grille, a redesigned front fascia, and new wheel designs. Key updates include a standard 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 10.2-inch digital cluster, wireless smartphone integration, and improved cabin insulation

  • Removable Second-Row Middle Seat: Easily removes to create DIY captain’s chairs. Stores inside the trunk — no garage clogging. Perfect for families who need flexible seating configurations.
  • Massive, Functional Interior Space: Class-leading passenger space with plenty of room in every row.
  • Exceptional Second-Row Car-Seat Compatibility: Lower anchors + top tethers on every second-row seat
Car Mom Review

The Exterior

The 2027 Pilot keeps the strong design that debuted with the 2023 redesign, but Honda made a few subtle tweaks to modernize the look.

The biggest change is the wider, more aggressive front grille, which helps the Pilot feel a little more competitive next to other midsize SUVs like the Telluride, Palisade, and Grand Highlander. The overall shape still feels rugged and family-friendly, but the refreshed grille gives it a slightly more commanding presence on the road.

The model I toured was the Black Edition, which comes in around $57,000 MSRP and adds dark trim accents and contrast stitching throughout the interior.

Boxy, bold and muscular!

First Row

Driver’s Seat & Front Row

Inside the cabin, Honda made one of the biggest improvements families were hoping for: a larger infotainment screen.

The 2027 Pilot now comes with a 12.3-inch touchscreen, replacing the smaller 9-inch screen from the 2023 launch. This brings the Pilot more in line with competitors in the midsize SUV segment.

Other front-seat highlights include:

  • Heated and ventilated front seats
  • Heated steering wheel (Black Edition)
  • Wireless phone charger
  • Two large cupholders
  • Wide center console with plenty of storage
  • Memory seats and contrast interior stitching

One feature I loved—and something Honda does really well—is thoughtful storage. The door cubbies are large enough to fit a 40 oz Stanley, which may seem small but is a big deal for busy parents on the go.

Second Row

The Real Star: The Second Row

Honda calls the Pilot the “King of the Carpool Lane,” and once you see the second row, it’s easy to understand why.

Families will appreciate the thoughtful features here, including:

  • Built-in sunshades
  • Double cupholders on the doors
  • Heated second-row seats (higher trims)
  • USB-C charging ports
  • Panoramic sunroof

One thing Honda still hasn’t added: ceiling vents. The Pilot uses vents at the back of the center console instead. It works, but ceiling vents would make rear passengers more comfortable—especially for kids in rear-facing car seats.

The Pilot’s Best Trick: The Removable Middle Seat

Remove the middle seat and the second row transforms into captain’s chairs with a wide aisle to the third row.

This is where the Pilot becomes incredibly versatile for families. You can switch between:

  • Three-across bench seating
  • Captain’s chairs with easy third-row access

Few SUVs offer this level of flexibility.

The removable middle seat even has a dedicated storage spot under the trunk floor, so you don’t have to keep it in your garage.

The Car Seat Set-Up:

The bench comes standard, though the removable center seat is only available standard on the Touring and Elite trims and available on the EX-L. If you want the flexibility of removing the middle seat, be sure to select the higher trims.

With or without the removable middle seat, the car seat set-up is amazing. Honda gave each seating position better dedicated lower anchors, so the weird overlap between the driver and center position's lower anchors is gone. The center seat's lower anchors also are centered for use with a (narrow) booster.

With a narrow car seat in the center you can also access the third row by tilting and sliding the outboard seat. If a wide car seat is installed here there won't be enough space for the seat to tilt without hitting that center car seat.

With nearly 58" of second row bench space you can really fit so many different car seats next to each other. Each second row head restraint is also removable for excellent car seat install flexibility.

Third Row

Third Row Seating

While the second row is excellent, the third row is the Pilot’s weakest area.

Technically, it’s a three-seat bench—but the middle seat is extremely narrow. In reality, the third row works much better as a two-passenger space.

Other things to note:

  • Seats sit low to the ground, which may reduce knee support for kids
  • You may need to keep children in boosters longer because of the seat height
  • Legroom is adequate but not class-leading

Amenities back here include:

  • Side air vents
  • Two cupholders on each side
  • Charging ports
  • One set of lower anchors (passenger side)
  • Tether anchors for all three seats

For most families, the third row will work well for kids, but it’s not ideal for adults on long trips.

The Car Seat Set-Up:

There is one set of lower anchors behind the passenger seat and top tethers in every position. The center head restraint is removable, but the outboard head restraint is not. It is very flush and does not typically cause any car or booster seat installation issues.

The bench sits very low which can give a poor lap-belt fit for many kids. Plan on using a booster seat in this position for a long time! But the knee clearance and overall space can't be beat.

Trunk

Cargo space in the Pilot is usable but not the largest in the segment.

With the third row up, I was able to fit a UPPAbaby Vista stroller, which is always a good real-world test for families.

You also get excellent underfloor storage, which can be used for:

  • Storing the removable middle seat
  • Travel potty
  • Blankets
  • Emergency clothes
  • Sports gear

Fold the third row flat and you get a huge cargo area, making the Pilot very road-trip friendly.

Safety

The 2027 Honda Pilot has not yet been rated, but the 2025 model year is an IIHS Top Safety Pick!

The Honda Pilot also received a 5-Star Safety rating from NHTSA in 2025.

The 2027 Pilot includes updated Honda Sensing as standard, with:

  • Adaptive cruise control
  • Lane-keep assist
  • Blind-spot monitoring
  • Traffic-jam assist
  • Rear seat reminder (to help prevent children being left behind)

The upgraded backup camera offers a 90-degree field of view with 120-degree radar coverage, making parking and tight spaces much easier.

Car Seat Setup

Car Seat Compatibility & Third-Row Access

The Pilot offers a wide second-row bench, making it a strong contender for families with multiple car seats. You’ll find lower anchors in every second-row seating position and top tether anchors in every seat throughout the vehicle, which is a huge win for flexibility. There’s also one set of lower anchors in the third row (passenger side).

All second-row head restraints are removable, which helps significantly with car seat installation.

One important note for the second-row center seat: the lower anchors are offset from the seat belt, meaning a booster cannot use LATCH in this position. Additionally, the center and driver-side lower anchor bars overlap slightly, making it easy to confuse which anchors belong to which seat. You’ll want to pay close attention when installing with LATCH in these positions.

Fitting Multiple Car Seats

If you plan to keep the third row folded down for cargo space, you can comfortably fit up to three car seats across the second row with the right configuration.

However, if you need regular third-row access, things get trickier. The center car seat must be narrow to allow enough room for an outboard seat to tilt and slide forward.

And that leads to one of the Pilot’s biggest drawbacks…

Third-Row Access

Access to the third row is limited to the tilt-and-slide function of the outboard seats, which can become a challenge when car seats are installed. If you’re running multiple car seats across the second row, getting back there can be difficult—sometimes leaving kids to climb in from the trunk, which is far from ideal.

If you don’t need frequent third-row access, this may not be a dealbreaker. But for larger families, it’s definitely something to consider.

Real-Life Comfort

Here’s where the Pilot really shines: I was able to sit comfortably between two rear-facing car seats in the second row—fully buckled—with solid knee and headroom. That’s a big deal when you’re managing a newborn or helping toddlers on the go.

Third-Row Fit for Kids

The third-row bench sits quite low, which can lead to a less-than-ideal lap belt fit for many kids. Because of this, you should plan on using a booster seat in the third row for longer than you might expect.

The good news? There’s still excellent overall space and knee room back there.

The outboard head restraints in the third row are not removable, but they sit very flush and rarely interfere with car seat or booster installations.

I owned my Honda Pilot for over 8 years. It was a really great car. The technology was starting to get a little dated but that’s expected after 8 years. I LOVED the amount and size of cupholders. The third row was a little tight but we didn’t use it very often. With the third row down the trunk space was more than enough.

I went to test drive the Honda Pilot black edition. I liked it a lot, especially the ability to remove the middle seat and turn the second row into captains chairs. Ultimately it fell short with the driving performance and lack of ceiling vents. It felt very big to me, pick up was just mehh. I liked it a lot, I just didn’t love it.

I love it!! I have two teenagers and they are comfortable in the back. I rarely use the third row so I love all of the trunk space. The third row is useable but not the most comfortable for long trips.

Love the Pilot for my two kids and occasional additional passengers when carpooling or just transporting the family with our large dog. We have the captains chairs which was all we could find available when we needed to buy but definitely would have preferred the higher trim with removable second row center seat or even bench to take advantage of three across or the additional trunk space. The trunk is where this car falls a little flat for me as space is challenging with the third row up. However storage throughout the rest of the car with consoles and door pockets and cup holders is great. I’m 5’8” and have been able to comfortable sit in the second row behind my 6’ husband or in the third row with the second row having a RF car seat. Only other downside would be the info-tainment screen is small but appreciate the button controls. I do feel like the steering is “looser” compared to other vehicles (coming from a Subaru forester previously) so that was an adjustment as well.

I drove a 2017 Honda Pilot until I was in an accident that totaled it. I did not have any kids with me at the time of the accident, but it kept ME incredibly safe and I would buy one again in a heartbeat. Totaled the vehicle, not a scratch on me. Very comfortable interior. Apple Carplay (wired) which I was very happy to have in a 2017. Extraordinarily reliable and repairs were reasonably priced when needed. Mileage was pretty good for an SUV as well.

I love my Pilot. I do wish there was a little more leg room in the back two rows but it’s not bad. I got the Trailsport trim which does not come with the removable middle seat in the 2nd row. Having a 4 and 6 year old who can buckle and unbuckle themselves and no plans for future children, I wanted full access to the third row and I knew if we had the removable middle seat it would sit in the garage. I do wish the infotainment screen was bigger but the technology is good. I also wish that when you touch the drivers door handle that all doors would unlock. I used to have an explorer and loved the feature of the keypad.

Love my 2024 Honda Pilot touring! I use the bench for 3 across currently (all in Graco SlimFit 3lx) but will likely soon take out the removable middle seat when kids are a little older and have friends tag along. I think it’s super cute, the blue color makes it a little unique, and I have been super impressed with the features. I feel especially emotional about the Pilot because I was involved in a bad car crash (t-boned by someone running a red light) in June 2025 with my son in tow. We both walked away in good shape and the car, while totaled, took it like a champ. I went out and purchased the exact same car in a different color and higher trim. Highly recommend!

I lovvvveeey Honda pilot. It gives me van vibes without the look and the doors obviously. The sun shades, vents on the side third row and the stow away middle seat in the second row are great. Cup holders and chargers everywhere. With two kids in car seats and done having more it’s the perfect mom choice. Only downfall. Third row middle seat is made for the American girl doll.

Not the sexiest car on the market, but reliable, and very suitable for carpooling. Love that the middle bench seat can easily be removed and stored. And the third row is comfortable enough for an adult. Very happy with the purchase.

One of the best mid-size suvs! I bought this car when I had two kids, with no plans of adding another. Well a year past, we added another and it serves my family well. I have the EXL, which is the lowest trim and still great! My husband is 5’8 and I am 5’4. Our current set up is a doona behind the driver, Chicco Myfit behind the passenger (with the headrest removed), and a Chicco backless booster in the passenger third row. Third row headrests are NOT removable. My favorite features are wireless CarPlay, removable middle seat (with stowaway space in the cargo area), built in window shades, cabin talk, 3rd row usb-c ports, and having the ability to make the trunk space a bit deeper (when the middle seat is NOT in the cargo space). I also appreciate that the cup holders are a great size and fit various cup sizes. It is not the best on gas in a stop and go town, but overall does well on long trips. This pilot has treated us so well! I am glad we were able to find something in our budget that we liked and that was able to accommodate our growing family!!

There is a lot I like about my Honda Pilot Elite. The design and styling are great, and the brown leather interior is beautiful and comfortable. I love the head-up display, infotainment screen, heated and ventilated seats, and all the cup holders\. It is quiet, drives smoothly, has great A/C, and gets good gas mileage. The second row also slides forward nicely for third-row access. There are a few things I really dislike. The gas tank is too small, so even with good mileage, I feel like I am constantly filling up, especially on road trips. For the Elite trim, I also wish it had hands-free driving technology, massaging seats, and a power third row. Raising the third row is especially annoying because I have to climb into the cargo area to reach the strap and then climb back out to pull the seat up. Our biggest issue is space. My two oldest boys are around 6 feet tall and my husband is 6’4”, so whoever sits behind him in the second row is squished. My youngest sits in the third row, and even at about 5’1”, he has very little legroom and doesn’t find it comfortable. Cargo space behind the third row is also limited. A full-size stroller or large Costco package won’t fit without folding a seat down, and for large grocery trips we need the third row down. We downsized from a Yukon and regret it. The Pilot is a very nice SUV, but if you have more than two kids or tall/growing teenagers, I would recommend going full-size. There is a difference between having enough seats and having enough room for everyone to actually be comfortable.

The pilot rides smooth, has plenty of leg, hip and head room. Flexible seating with a removable center seat in the 2nd row. Third row can’t truly fit 3 people but can comfortably fit 2 kids in the third row. Trunk space is good with the deep trunk option. I wish it had ceiling vents and car seat tilt. It’s also a bit noisy in the cabin. We looked at and test drove the traverse, atlas, grand Cherokee L, Durango and hands down the pilot was the best out of the bunch!

This car has been great for my young kids in car seats (fit 3 across on the bench seat). It will eventually become my husband’s daily work commute car as I am exploring getting a new vehicle for myself in the next 1-3 years.

I love my 2024 Honda Pilot. We like to keep cars for several years and reliability was important for me. Also, I like the extra space and elevation feel that comes with an SUV. I have the elite edition so I enjoy all the technology (which I was seriously lacking with my previous car). A few of my favorites are: phone charging pad, all the plugs - every can charge their devices even in the 3rd rod, panoramic sun roof and adaptable cruise controls for our roadtrips to Disney.

Followed Kelly’s advice on not being afraid to go for a used car with +100k miles and it’s been amazing! Got all the features I wanted under budget and she’s been awesome. Super spacious and while it’s not the zippiest drive, she fits our needs for a spacious midsize and not terrible on gas for us.

I love the pilot for its space, comfort and reliability but I’d love if there was more storage and better airflow. Newer models have a removable middle seat which would also be great for third row access. I don’t use the third row much because it’s not easily accessible with my kids seats and the legroom isn’t the best. Overall though, it’s a great car for our family of 4 humans and 2 medium sized dogs!

This car is not the most fancy on the outside but she is great for reliability and getting the job done for an affordable price. I have owned 3 different Honda Pilots and really like them. One I was in a roll over crash where I turned over and over and I walked away with only a couple of bruises. We love the safety Honda provides with their cars. We have 2 kids and it functions well for that. It is not the most handy when trying to do 3 car seats across the bench in the middle. But I am sure that can be fixed by us having different car seats.

Fits 3 car seats on second row bench seat, love the option to have captain seats or bench seat. Has built in storage for the middle seat if you want to remove it. I wish there were ceiling vents in the second row. Tech could be better, the screen is somewhat on the small side and the tech isn’t anything special it’s pretty basic. I wish it was easier to access the third row with car seats installed in the second row. Great trunk space and has a lot of leg room with rear facing car seats

Great car for two kids- I haven’t seen this car talked much about, but it is very reliable, has all the features and technology to make it feel like your money is worth it! Trunk Space is also large. I feel very confident about my purchase!

This is my second Honda Pilot in my life — The first is a 2006 I drove in high school and let’s just say my little sister is still driving it in 2026! When we were in the market for a new car with our second on the way, we started with the Pilot because we knew it was reliable. I get multiple comments when driving friends how roomy the second row is and I’m very happy with the trunk space with the third row down. I wish it had brake hold; my Civic before this had it, even though it was an older model year. I also wish it had wireless CarPlay, but wired CarPlay works great. I did have to have it looked at in maybe 2024 because it had a random computer issue where all of my dash lights were on when it was running, but other than that, it has been a wonderful car and great for our family of four.

This is a great, functional mid-sized vehicle for small-to-medium families. With only one child, we don't use the 3rd row often, which gives us tons of trunk space. But when we have friends or family along for the ride, there's still plenty of room. We got a lower trim bench in the 2nd row, so the middle seat isn't removable like on higher trims. But again, since we rarely use the 3rd row, that works best for us. There are cup holders everywhere you look, and the drive is great. When we were shopping, it seemed to be one of the only mid-sized SUVs that still had a V6, which was important to us. It also has just enough technology to be helpful without being overbearing (I prefer simplicity). We still own a 2011 Pilot that I drove prior to this one, and I do wish the newer models sat up higher like the older one did. That one is still running well and will soon be handed down to our teenager.

Honestly, as a mom of two toddlers, I really like the 2023 Honda Pilot. It’s roomy without feeling like you’re driving a giant bus, there’s plenty of space for car seats, groceries, and all the random kid stuff. It drives comfortably and handles Colorado weather well with AWD. My only complaints are that getting in and out of the third row can be a pain with car seats, the fuel economy is just okay, and some of the interior/tech feels a little underwhelming for the price. Overall, it’s not flashy but it’s a really practical family SUV. It’s the kind of car that just makes life with two little kids easier.

I LOVE my pilot. Every inch feels functional! It drives very smooth and I love how simple the infotainment system is. That being said, I have a few critiques…. I wish the cargo area was bigger with the third row up. However, I know it’s pretty comparable to all of the other midsize 3 row SUVs, with the exception of the Toyota grand highlander that has 2cf more room. I also wish the infotainment system had a knob near the middle console like the Mazda does to make controls easier so you wouldn’t have to reach and touch the screen every time. I wish the gas mileage was better, but with a V6, that’s kind of the trade off and that’s okay. My last and final critique, they NEED to put ceiling vents in the second row for rear facing kids. Hopefully one day we will see that! Other than those small things, the Pilot is wonderful and has worked for our small ,but growing, family so far. It’s a wonderful mom car!

I have two kids in car seats (1 rear seated and one front facing). I love a bench seat when a little one of fuzzy at the back and we can sit comfortably back with them. But still have the option for captain chairs when needed. Third row is roomy for two adults. Usually have third row down and more than enough room for large stroller and lots of groceries/Costco haul!

We test drove many vehicles and researched like crazy before purchasing. So far we LOVE the 2026 Honda Pilot! The brown interior on our Elite trim feels so elevated. We have 2 kids in reverse car seats so we were looking for a vehicle that would grow with us. Allowing us to have a 2nd row bench seat while we have a larger jogger stroller in the trunk/ third row at this stage of our lives was huge. But having the ability to have 2nd row captain chairs as the kids get older and no longer need strollers was such a bonus. Having a vehicle that will grow with us instead of just meeting our current lifestyle needs is a game changer.

We have had my 2024 pilot touring for 2.5 years and really like it! I drove a 2014 CRV and a 2022 passport prior to this but finally decided I would love to have more room + the third row option. My husband and I both really like how the pilot drives, and it’s got really great storage! We also really like the look of it!

Bought this car to grow with our family and we love it. The middle seat comes out so you can have captain chairs or a bench. There’s also plenty of legroom in the third row and second row. I often sit in the back with my baby (I’m 5’10) and very happy with the space. The only downside is no overhead rear air vents. However, the car has great air circulation and there are air vents in the third row so it helps with keeping it cool. Overall this car is fantastic. Plus there are plenty of cupholders and cubbies for toys, water bottles, etc. It drives very smoothly.

I had a Honda Odyssey 2013 and drove for 210k miles. I loved it! The natural next car was a Pilot. It's comfortable, spacious and I love room in the back especially with the drop down area. Also, it is a great car for my teens to learn to drive in. The third row is fine for one or two kids but a stretch for three.

My Honda pilot has worked well for our family! We think the trunk works well enough most of the time. We do have to put the bigger side down when we have a lot of luggage. The 3rd row was the best that we tested out back in 2017. We only had one kid when we bought it and now have 3. Worked well for what we need. It is definitely only a 6 seater even though it is meant for 7. The Middle seat works in a pinch but the adult butt has to be turned sideways. The radio did go out 3 years ago, so that was disappointing but it will still work foe the 1st 10 min of the ride and then turn off. The kids headsets still work so they can still watch a movie.

It really is a great car. We have 2 rear facing kids and they fit nicely in the back seat. I love the option of the bench converting to captains chairs. The interior styling on the Elite trim is beautiful and overall very happy with the infotainment. The main downside for us is the older V6 engine feels sluggish compared to other hybrid and turbo options we tested.

As a mom, I absolutely love my 2024 Honda Pilot! It has been such a great family vehicle (if you have 1-2 kids). Pros: Nice boxy look AWD Amazing cargo space Cupholders for everyone… and then some! Removable bench seat V6 engine (these are getting harder to find)! Honda provides free oil change and tire rotation for first two years. Cons Small info screen Hard to get into 3rd row with car seats No hybrid option- gas hog No ceiling vents Overall, the Pilot has been a good choice for our family. Our family is growing and we will be looking to upgrade to a minivan for easier 3rd row access and sliding doors!

It’s a good size for a mid range SUV. A but more boxy inside which I love. Feels roomy. Great mom car to get around in. Pretty indestructible toting kids around. Not a luxurious car, but still comfy, and nice.

Bought my Honda Pilot after watching reviews from Kelly. I have older children (3) and they all fit comfortably even in the third row. We have taken multiple long distance road trips without issues of space or the vehicle. I have 159000 miles on it and there have been some normal maintenance items. Haven’t had any reliability issues.

I am a full-time babysitter to my precious three grandchildren, which are all under the age of three. I wanted an SUV that was midsize, AWD or four wheel drive and would also accomodate three car seats in the second row. After doing a lot of research and watching a lot of The Car Mom videos on YouTube, I chose the Honda Pilot. So pleased with my decision. It is exactly what I needed and more. Spacious without feeling too large. Also the capability to maneuver the Virginia mountains in the winter. The ride is very comfortable and smooth. The grandchildren have already been enjoying the panoramic sunroof. I previously drove a 2020 infiniti QX 60 and I do not feel I have lost anything with the Pilot. It feels like the upgrade I was hoping for.

This is a great SUV for a family that is always on the go and for those that live in a snowy climate. The fuel efficiency is also decent and im someone who spends a LOT of time in the car from work and hauling kids/dogs. It’s also quite comfortable and roomy if you travel. My husband’s family is a 10 hour ride from where we live. So when we visit, it’s not a quick trip. It could get a little tight if you have 2 or more kids. But we have one child and 2 medium/ large dogs that we travel with and we’ve managed to pack everyone in and go. I have a transitional car seat for my child- so it’s a bit on the bulkier side especially since he is still rear facing. It fits well in the second row. At the point in my life the only thing I would consider is a shell for my roof rack to add some extra storage when we go on longer road trips.

We love our car. We love that we can easily pop up the third room if we need it or put it down with ease to make the trunk bigger. We have captain chairs, we wish we had a bench but we make it do. Our year and model has a dvd player in it which our kids love. They love to be able to watch movies and enjoy it together. We love the ride. It is quiet. So many cup holders, so nice for snacks and drinks. We haven’t had any issues, part of the reason we bought a Honda is because they are very reliable. Only down fall is no ceiling vents, which is a bummer but we have made do, and we have bought fans for the kids so they can get more airflow. Not ideal, but not wanting a new car for just ceiling vents. I’d definitely recommend any Honda but the Pilot is a favorite for us!

I’ve been driving my 2022 Honda Pilot for some time now, and overall it has been a reliable and comfortable SUV. The cabin is spacious, making it great for commuting as well as family trips. The seats are comfortable, and the layout of the controls is easy to use without feeling cluttered. I also appreciate the smooth ride and how well it handles both city driving and longer freeway trips. The Pilot offers good visibility, and the safety features have been consistently helpful without feeling intrusive. I’ve also found that the fuel efficiency is reasonable for a midsize SUV, and maintenance has been straightforward so far.

This has been a great family car. We crossed 100,000 miles this year and it is still going. We did run into some maintenance issues the past couple of years with the emissions system and the forward camera which melted and had to be replaced. It performs well in snow and ice, it feels safe, is easy to drive, and has remained a great purchase.

This is by far my favorite vehicle I’ve ever owned! It fits our family perfectly (one child & two large dogs). Both dogs, a Costco haul or a ride on Jeep fit perfectly in the back with the third row down. We had no problem fitting a rotating rear facing car seat in the 2nd row. The only downsides to this car are lack of ceiling vents and that it’s a 4 cylinder (I prefer a little more power). Overall, I would recommend this to anybody and would buy another one tomorrow.

I love the flexibility of the Honda Pilot. We knew we wanted at least 2 kids, and I loved the option to be able to have a bench seat on all trim levels. We typically have the 3rd row down for extra trunk space. I do wish there was more front row storage. The panoramic sunroof is amazing when the kids are fussy, being able to open that up and have them look at the clouds/trees/sky is so nice. The amount of cup holders is also nice, especially since all of the door cup holders can easily hold my 40oz Stanley Ice Flow. I love my Honda Pilot.

I have the 2021 Honda Pilot Elite. I’ve owned it for 5 years now and it’s truly the perfect reliable family car! I have 2 kids, ages 11 and 9, but we NEED the extra space for hauling friends and sporting gear around daily. At the time, it was the only car that ticked all of my checklist boxes. One of the most important things was a built in rear entertainment system for roadtrips - we roadtrip often! It was one of the few larger SUV’s at the time that came standard and wasn’t an add on later. We got captain’s seats in the 2nd row and in hindsight, I wish we would have gotten a bench for extra seating but the captain’s seats make it easier for kids to crawl in and out of the back. The one and only issue I’m having with the car (and the only issue I’ve had ever) is that when the engine idles at a stoplight, sometimes the car stalls! I always try to remember to turn that feature off but it does seem to relate to the battery health so I may just need a new battery soon!

Great car overall. After 3 years in the car here are my notes. Do the bench, gear shifter is not my jam, no navigation build in..?!! Technology is a bit behind. Sun shade hooks broke off within a month of owning.. windshield cracked (these cars are more prone to it apparently) and no ceiling vents. I owned a 2010 Honda pilot and I would buy that over this knowing what I know. Cheaply made now. Anywho that’s my 2 cents :)

Love my Honda Pilot elite! The simple infotainment with actual buttons and smooth drive made it easy to upgrade from my civic. I have the joie mint latch and love the ease of the lower anchors. It is functional, reliable, and safe, all wins for our family.

I love my Honda Pilot. My kids are older (just one in a booster), so we went with the captain's seats, and they have been great. I think it gives them a little more room for all their things in the backseat with them. I do wish it had a little better "get up and go". The biggest con, though, is the lack of rear ceiling vents. We live in South Texas, and it was almost enough for me not to buy it. However, it does cool off quickly, and kid complaints are minimal. I would not have gotten it if I had rear-facing kids.

I actually drive a 2012 Pilot, but 2017 was the earliest year I could select. LOVE my Pilot. It fits my family and their sports equipment well and is incredibly reliable.

My Honda pilot is great. So great that I bought a new one every year for the last three years I love the look, the reliability, the space, and that my kids feel comfortable. The only complaint that I have is there are no ceiling vents an added bonus feature is the removable middle seat to make it where you can either have captain chairs or a bench. I recommend this car to anyone!!!!

I love my pilot! It’s been perfect for our size family who frequently takes other family members along! It’s been amazing and reliable and easy to function! Great gas mileage for trips. I wish it had ceiling vents but that’s the only down fall.

I absolutely love my 2025 Honda Pilot EXL. I have two kids , a first responder husband, and we live in a rural area so we’re always on the go. The trunk in large enough to haul pretty much anything and the backseat is so spacious!

I’ve had this car for 3 years, purchased new in 2023. It was with us with the transition from 2-3 kids, now we have two forward facing in the third row and a rear facing in the second row. The removable middle seat is a game changer. It makes access to the third row easier for us since this car does not have a car seat tilt. We are able to put the middle seat back in when we have longer trips, which allows me to move my two year old to the second row (gives more storage space for suitcases in the trunk) and I can still sit with the baby in the middle when need be. On a day-to-day basis, the drop down trunk feature is awesome. I can easily fit a mockingbird two seater stroller in the back with my two oldest sitting comfortably in the third row. My only real negative, is I wouldn’t get black if you can avoid it. We have had several different models of black cars, and I feel like the Honda has been way more prone to scratching than other manufactures.

I love my Pilot! It was such an upgrade from the 2009 Toyota Tundra I drove previously. Having CarPlay is so helpful to handle all the kid song requests, hands free calls and texts while driving and a LARGE map screen to limit wrong turns in a car with three kids and a lot going on. Love the cup holders in the center console and on all doors, love the roominess in the second row and trunk! Third row can be a little tight for adults but is great for kids! I wish it had overhead vents in the back but two years into driving it, that is my only real complaint!

I love my car!!! Currently have 3 across and the third row down for ample trunk space. My kids fit great with a high back booster, forward facing car seat, and infant seat. I’ve recently been having issues with the key fob and the battery draining weirdly fast so we’ll see if that issue continues

I love my 2022 Honda pilot! The 2nd row bench fits 3 across beautifully. While I had 2 kids, I had 2 rotating evenflo car seats and they could both be rotated inwards and not run into each other (a problem in my old Equinox). The trunk space with the 3rd row down is absolutely massive and can still fit my city jogger double stroller folded up if the 3rd row is up. Minus points for no ceiling vents in the 2nd row. There is a middle head restraint in the second row though. Plenty of 2nd row leg/car seats space even with larger, rear facing and fully reclined car seats. I’m 5 foot 9 for reference. Cup holders in the first and second rows are perfect. Apple car play and the tech is always functioning. Has lane departure, safety braking, blind spot safety tech.

I owned a Honda Pilot previously and had two rear facing car seats in it at the time. I really loved this car and it worked so well for two kids. I leased the car and ultimately wish I had kept it, I think it would’ve done well with the three car seats I have now! The trunk is very spacious, I LOVED all the cupholders in the doors, there was always a place to set my drink or phone when I was buckling a kid. I had no performance issues and there was tons of leg room in the second row. My extended family are all over 6 feet tall and had tons of space. The third row wasn’t bad to sit in either as an adult for moderate distances. I wouldn’t want to road trip back there but plenty of space for an hour to two back there. My tall husband sat back there with minimal complaints. If you put all the seats down there’s TONS of space, I hauled many a fb marketplace purchase in the back

This car has been a wonderful family car. Easily fits 3 car seats across the second row bench, allowing a large storage area in the trunk with the third row folded down. Biggest complaint is no ceiling vents in second row.

Sadly, this is a car we regret owning. It had everything and we test drove it a lot. The third row space was unbelievable and the tech was great. The seats no matter what we do feel a bit like we are driving while in the dentist car. It often hurts our knees and backs. I'm unsure how long it will last for us.

This is my second Honda Pilot and I absolutely love it for 2 kids. I’m 5’2 and can comfortably sit in the second or third row if needed. Forward and rear facing seats fit very well. In booster mode it is easy for my kids to buckle themselves since the buckles are easy to see and are not recessed. The technology was updated this year for the interior and it is very well done (I had a 2023 Pilot Elite prior to this car). The screen is larger than previous and google assistant is integrated which is so nice. SiriusXM is no longer available but I use the app on Apple CarPlay without any issues. CabinTalk is nice to have as is the mirror up top to see behind you easily. It drives really nicely and gets fairly good gas mileage once the engine is broken in around 4000 miles. There are so many cup holders available which I now cannot live without. Trunk space is great and having the removable middle seat in the second row and somewhere to put it is seriously amazing. My two kids have been in forward facing car seats side by side and on the outboard seats and both fit great, side by side is nice since with slimmer seats you can still slide the outer seat forward to get to the 3rd row. This is such a great and fairly affordable car for families!

We love our Honda Pilot! I have the EX-L trim and I think it is the sweet spot for features for the price. I really wanted a bench as at the time of buying we had one kid and a dog who used the backseats. I wanted to keep the bench so my dog could continue to use it. With hopes of a second child I wanted a third row for the dog in the future. We use the car with the third row down currently 98% of the time. When we’ve had adult passengers in the third row they have been comfortable. The second row is closed latches make car seat installation with latch very easy! I’m not a big tech person but really enjoy wireless CarPlay, heated seats and Sirius XM. I also enjoyed the programmable driver seat so I could set my self a special setting when I was pregnant and my back was really sore. Built in sunshades for the second row are a game changer. Such better coverage than the standard suction cup ones! I think one of my favorite things is the amount of cup holders. They easily hold my Stanley’s and the front doors hold my husbands Nalgene bottle which doesn’t fit in any other car! I also like being able to put my own bottle in the passenger doors when loading the kids. We’ve had no issues with leg room and car seats. My husband is 6ft and still has room between the car seat and his seat. We’ve had a Graco 4Ever and Graco SnugRide installed rear facing with no issues! I haven’t tried but I’m sure I could fit in the middle seat if needed. It’s been a great car for our now family of 4 and I can see it serving us for many years to come! When we’ve get another dog I do think we will have to get a roof box for our road trips as we will then be using the third row more often. Lastly, I really like the hidden under trunk storage. I use it to keep things in like blankets, travel potty and spare clothes! It can also be great to hide things on road trips.

I purchased a Honda Pilot because I needed extra cargo space when I was preparing for my second child. I move up to a Pilot after having a Ford Edge. Pros: I like how high it sits, it's easy to drive, the climate controls aren't hidden on a screen, plenty of cargo space with the third row down, and I like how the second row outboard seats are on tracks. OH AND THE CUPHOLDERS! This car is the GOAT of cupholders. Cons: there truly is not much trunk space with the third row up, and I wish the trunk hatch lifted up even further (it feels like it's in the way sometimes). I do not have a lot to complain about with this car, I've enjoyed the time I've owned it. If I had more kids and needed to utilize the third row daily, I would not recommend this car because the cargo space is fairly small behind that third row.

We have 3 kids in car seats- 1 booster, 1 FF, and 1 RF. We chose the Pilot redesign because of the flexibility of the second row - being able to remove and replace the middle seat, allowing for captain seats or a bench. This has worked out well for us because we can fit 3 across if necessary, but we typically have the middle seat removed to allow our booster child to get out of the 3rd row easily for school drop-off. My husband is 6'6" and fits comfortably in the passenger seat, in front of a FF car seat. We love our Pilot!

This car has been great for our family of 5, especially with the bench. We have 2 rear facing kids and 1 forward facing. This car has allowed us to do multiple car seat arrangements, which was on my list of must haves. Our 5 year old can buckle herself now, so she is able to sit in the 3rd row, and since each seat in our 2nd row can be moved independently, she can access it easily. Having 3 car seats across in the 2nd row is tight, but totally doable. We have found that the middle seat can be difficult to install some car seats on due to its shape and size, but overall we have made this work. I wish the trunk was bigger, but we still had a successful 12hr road trip with our Pilot! I also would love some ceiling vents. My favorite part of this car is the door organization, the simple to use air control, and the upgrades you get with the Elite trim level.

As a mom to 2 boys that are older. The vehicle works. I’m out of thr car seat and stroller stage and the legroom and trunk space is good. I am regularly driving friends around and use the 3rd row- the leg room is decent for boys under 6ft- for normal car rides- long distance would get cramped.

I had to upgrade my car from my Toyota RAV4 (2014) because we have surprise baby 3 on the way! I wanted something with enough room for all 3 kids without going to a minivan or full size SUV. Tech is great, love all the cup holders, drives so well, and comfortable for us and our kids! 3rd row is a little tight for adults but we really don’t have adults back there currently or often. Only con is no ceiling air vents!

I bought this car used in 2022 and haven’t regretted a moment of it. It’s perfect for my family of 4. We almost never use the third row (unless I was sitting back there to help when my baby was in the second row). We have rarely needed the third row for passengers, but I like having the option. More importantly, it’s helpful to have the extra cargo when I put the third row down. I do wish I had gotten a bench rather than captains chairs for a few reasons - safety of projectiles in the truck when third row down, option for another passenger without using third row, and accessibility of items that my kids drop between their car seats - I’m always straining to reach stuff in the center console of the second row. I previously had a 2009 crv with no tech, so I love the technology, even though I think it’s pretty average based on today’s cars (backup camera, apple car play, saved driver seat settings, seat warmers, steering wheel audio control are my favorites). I have the Touring model if that matters. Would recommend to a family of 2 kids!

This car has been great for older kids and sports! Bought the car with one in a booster moving to riding without a booster. I would have bought a different trim with leather seats if I had more in car seats for ease of cleaning. There are so many cup holders for all the water bottles and sports drinks that kids bring to the car. I have 3 kids over 5 feet tall and all sit comfortably(one is an adult who is over 20 that still travels with us on family trips). Plenty of room for two in the third row but seating for three as the manufacturer says is just not possible. Vents in the third row are great- summers in the south are harsh and the whole car cools quickly. Drives like an odyssey minivan but those who don’t want a mini van( I owned an odyssey prior for 10 years). I would suggest this vehicle over other SUVs of this same type.

The Pilot is a great 3rd row vehicle car! We keep the 3rd row down for extra trunk space. I’m happy with how it drives and functions. So far, it has been very reliable.

The exterior has nice clean lines and a sporty feel and the interior, while simple, feels well-constructed and durable for family life. The technology is on the simpler side but having a screen and Apple car play was a big upgrade from our previous vehicle. With my 4 year old in a Nuna Rava and infant in a Nuna Pipa there is plenty of clearance to the driver and front row passenger seats and enough room for an adult to sit in the second row as well. Two car seats in the middle row does make third row access more difficult. The third row is spacious enough for adults but it’s worth noting the middle seat is pretty much unusable. My biggest complaint is that there are no ceiling vents but the back row does heat/cool well still. Overall we love our pilot!

We love our pilot for our 2 little ones! The second row has plenty of room for two rear facing car seats (Graco TrioGrow) plus a small adult inbetween when needed. We are able to use the third row to fit extra car seats for friends when needed! I get 28mpg on the interstate and around 16mpg around town. The tech is to be expected for a 2021 and the front is plenty spacious for a mom command center. I love the extra storage space under the trunk floor! We keep the third row down unless we have extra kiddos with us and we have more than enough room. Three across is easily achieved with the right car seats, and the pilot could easily handle 3-4 kids if some of the kids are older and not all in car seats. 4 car seats would be a stretch as this vehicle does not have carseat tilt. Overall we love the pilot for our 2 kids and I think 3 would be more than doable, 4 if at least one of them is out of a car seat! We plan on driving this car until our girls are driving and then passing it down to them.

Love this car! Fits rear facing car seats SO well even with a tall driver and with giving space within 3rd row. In 3 years I have done oil changes and new tires for maintenance. Has not required anything else. Cons are - the doors close VERY easily. Aka kids/you getting hit with even a slight breeze or slight incline - mat for trunk/3rd row coverage they provide is not attached to back of the seat. You have to take it in and out which to me is annoying - key fob. It dies constantly. I keep my keys in my car often and have to change my battery every 3-5 months max. - lowest trim levels come with many things being manual vs automatic (I have middle trim level and it’s mostly automatic. Just hate that the lower trims skimp) Pros - great 2nd and 3rd row leg space - great for 2-3 kids in car seats/booster (all I have experience with) - I personally love my captains chairs vs benches - Genuinely just love this car and would fully recommend it!

This is my second Pilot. Once they redesigned the vehicle, I had to have it. I initially had a brand new 2023 but had a slew of issues with the car so I traded it in for a newer version, same color and all. I love the look of this car and the drive is incredible. I don’t have kids but haul my cousins kids around a lot and they love it. The amount of times they comment on having cup holders in the second row cracks me up, they say, they can actually reach them/have their own (which evidently are missing from their moms car, a suburban with bucket seats). One thing I don’t like about this vehicle and may just be mine, but when it rains, there’s an internal drip noise, assuming it’s from the roof/moonroof area. But other than that, I’d buy this car again and again (and my cousins kids too, they’ve said when they turn 16, they say, I want Cye’s (their name for me) car.

We purchased our Honda Pilot when we had two kids in rear facing car seats to allow for more clearance in the second row. The second row is very spacious but lacks ceiling vents which is a bummer! The third row was fine the few times we utilized it and cargo space was also great! I would caution anyone looking to buy a pilot in regards to the auto start-stop because our Pilot had the known issue and Honda is doing nothing to fix it!! I was left stuck in neutral in the middle of traffic more than once, having to shut the entire vehicle off and restart before it would drive normally - not fun when you’re concerned about the safety of your children in the car! We owned the Touring trim of the vehicle and overall we did really like the car seat setup and feel of the interior, but the drive was just average and the technical issues were ultimately why we sold the car.

We owned this car for 3 years while we lived in Germany. At the time we bought it our kids were 4, 2 and newborn; the reason this car stood out to us was the bench seat that could fit 3 across and it worked great for us. The only thing I did not like was the outdated technology and the exterior of the car just looked dated but its reliability, the functionality it gave us day to day and while traveling was totally worth it.

I’ve driven my Pilot for almost three years now, and have loved it! I have the Touring trim level and only occasionally wish we had gone up to the Elite trim for a few features (camera on front of car, button to fold in mirrors, button to fold/unfold third row, etc) but it’s been great otherwise. The only gripes I have is no ceiling vents in second and third row and no car seat tilt to access 3rd row. We have made it work, but often in the summer I will get my daughter out of her rear facing seat and she is boiling. I did buy a fan that fits between the bars of the head rest that blows air at her to cool her down, which has helped a ton. The no car seat tilt has only become a problem recently with my son being moved to the 3rd row. He now has to climb in by ducking under my other kid’s rear facing seats and going back from there and I am not as able to help him get adjusted if he needs assistance. But we have made it work by me getting in the trunk and helping from there. Overall, we would 100% buy this car again. It has been fantastic for our family. Especially an upgrade from my prior car, a 2016 Hyundai Tucson.

Size is great to fit my three kids without going full size SUV. gets decent gas mileage (25+ mpg). goes GREAT on snowy roads. large trunk space with 3rd row down, still decent space with 3rd row in use. LOVE the removable middle seat in 2nd row. Can store in the trunk o take out of car completely and use that space for extra trunk space. No ceiling vents but with remote start and great a/c I don’t miss them. Sooo many cup holders! Reliability is fantastic, I’ve driven a 2019 pilot (since 2019) and then got this one in 2025 and have had zero issues other than standard maintenance. Technology is great, but I do feel like the screen placement could be a little better/more integrated into the dash. Love the brake hold feature that Kelly taught me about! Sunroof, heated & cooled seats, heated steering wheel, and black trim all make me feel like a cool mom!

I have loved this car! I’m about to have my third and we’ll be doing 3 across in car seats and I’m excited to see it in action. My biggest complaint is the lack of upper vents in the backseat, but it hasn’t been a huge deal honestly. The technology isn’t anything to write home about but it’s part of what I liked about it when we test drove- It’s simple!

We absolutely love the Honda pilot. The removable seat in the middle is perfect. When we need to use the third row we can remove it. Third row is spacious and there’s still plenty of trunk space. The large storage compartment in the trunk is also perfect to meet stuff for the kids. I have zero complaint and love the Pilot!

The pilot functions great for two kids and all the things that come with that. Our third row is down most of the time. I can sit in the middle bench if needed on a longer trip with two kids in car seats. But having two kids in the outboard seats makes accessing the third row near impossible.
