Car Mom Review

The Exterior

The 2025 Lincoln Navigator has officially been redesigned, and there's no denying it's making a statement. With a starting price that can climb well over $125,000, Lincoln is clearly aiming to compete with other luxury full-size SUVs like the Cadillac Escalade.

As someone who drives a Ford Expedition Max (which shares a platform with the Navigator), I was especially excited to see what Lincoln changed this year. I've always appreciated the Navigator's family-friendly functionality, but in the past, I felt like its styling didn't quite match the competition.

After spending time with the redesigned model, here's everything families should know before buying one.

A Much More Modern Exterior

The first thing you'll notice is the updated styling.

Lincoln gave the Navigator a much more aggressive and modern look with redesigned front and rear fascias, new lighting, and cleaner lines throughout. I especially love the darker gray paint paired with the black and chrome accents—it gives the SUV a sophisticated, sporty feel.

The front end is definitely the star of the show. While I'm not completely sold on the rear styling, it's still a huge improvement over the previous generation.

The model I reviewed was the Navigator L, which gives you an extended wheelbase and significantly more cargo space behind the third row.

First Row

The Interior Feels Like a Luxury Lounge

Stepping inside is honestly an experience.

The materials feel premium, the design is incredibly clean, and Lincoln has gone all-in on a minimalist aesthetic. There are very few physical buttons, beautiful two-tone trim, and an enormous display stretching across the dashboard.

It certainly feels futuristic—but that's where I have mixed feelings.

The Technology Might Be Too Much

There's no question the technology is impressive.

Lincoln replaced the traditional gauge cluster and head-up display with an ultra-wide customizable screen, paired with an additional touchscreen below. You can customize widgets, stream YouTube while parked, and even activate a "Rejuvenate" mode that reclines your seat, starts a guided meditation, turns on the massaging seats, and adjusts the climate control.

While all of that is undeniably cool, I couldn't help but feel like the technology sometimes gets in the way of usability.

Simple adjustments—like moving the steering wheel, mirrors, pedals, or even directing your air vents—now require navigating through menus on the touchscreen. Instead of reaching for a physical control, you're clicking through multiple screens for tasks that used to take seconds.

For me, that's adding complexity where it isn't needed.

In a vehicle that already costs well over $100,000, I'd rather see Lincoln focus on premium materials and thoughtful design instead of adding technology simply because they can.

‍

Second Row

Family-Friendly Features I Loved

At the end of the day, this is still a full-size SUV designed for families, and there are a lot of things the Navigator gets right.

Excellent Car Seat Hardware

The Navigator continues to be one of my favorite luxury SUVs for car seat installation.

It includes:

  • Lower anchors on both second-row outboard seats
  • Two sets of lower anchors in the third row
  • Top tether anchors in all five rear seating positions
  • Power car-seat-friendly tilt for accessing the third row with a car seat installed

From a child passenger safety standpoint, it's still one of the strongest options in the luxury SUV segment.

My Biggest Complaint About the Second Row

This was probably my biggest disappointment.

The rear entertainment screens mounted to the front seats are extremely bulky and take up valuable space.

Not only do they reduce knee room, but they also interfere with rear-facing car seat installation and leave the screens sitting very close to your child's face.

Personally, I'd rather skip the built-in screens entirely and let parents decide if they want to hand their kids a tablet.

Another surprising omission? There are no rear window sunshades.

At this price point, that's something I absolutely expected to see.

‍

Third Row

Third Row Comfort

The third row is exactly what you'd hope for in a full-size SUV.

Adults can comfortably sit back there, and passengers get:

  • Heated third-row seats
  • Reclining seatbacks
  • Ceiling-mounted air vents
  • Cup holders
  • Plenty of space

If you'll regularly use all three rows, the Navigator delivers.

Trunk

One of My Favorite New Features: The Split Tailgate

The updated split tailgate is easily one of the best additions for 2025.

Families know how quickly cargo can tumble out when opening a packed trunk. The lower tailgate solves that problem while also creating a convenient place to sit.

Lincoln also added a clever multi-purpose cargo shelf that can be configured several ways:

  • Upper storage shelf
  • Tailgate table
  • Bench seat with a padded backrest

This is the kind of innovation that actually makes life easier for families, and I loved how versatile it is.

Safety

The 2025 Lincoln Navigator prioritizes safety with the standard Lincoln Co-Pilot360 2.0 suite of driver-assist technologies. Key features include automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, a 360-degree camera system for tight spaces, and Lincoln BlueCruise for hands-free highway driving

I wasn't prepared to LOVE this car as much as I do. The Good: 1. Size & Storage - Not what I was originally looking for in a vehicle (my initial purchase was going to be the BMW X7), but after sitting in the third row, I KNEW it was it. The L Trim provides extra trunk space, allowing me to carry my Uppababy Vista + groceries, bags, etc., with all three rows up and full. I regularly drive with family, and this car was maxed out in space before I had my first child. 2. Luxury & Comfort - As previously mentioned, I was intending to buy the BMW X7, then was sold by the size of the Ford Expedition but underwhelmed by its interior. The Lincoln Navigator did not disappoint. The seats are comfortable. It looks good. Seat massagers are a plus, but overall, it provides nearly everything I was looking for in the X7 plus some. 3. Head Vents - I'm shocked at how many vehicles don't have them. They should be standard. The Okay: 1. Charging Ports - For the size of the vehicle, I feel like charging ports are lacking. They are in the third row, which is great, but the mag charger in the console is meh. I'd rather have more ports - especially for when I'm on the go and need to charge multiple items at once. 2. Infotainment - I opted for the '24 over the '25 because the financing deal was killer, but with that I missed out on the new and improved infotainment/tech. This one works; it does the job, but it's clunky and hard to navigate while driving and tends to lag. Could be/has been (?) improved. 3. Cup Holders - With the size of this vehicle, I'd expect better than average cup holders. There just doesn't seem to be enough up front that are large and practical. That's it! No negatives. Is it fuel efficient? No, but I knew that going into it. I would still much rather drive this around town and be comfortable and safe than drive the smaller fuel-efficient car I had before for the sake of saving gas. Overall - 10/10. I would buy another when this one's lifespan is up.

I just got this car but I already LOVE IT. My expedition was amazing but this one feels so luxurious! The only thing I wish it had is the ability to change airflow by hand on the vents, not just on the screen. Other than that after living with the oval steering wheel and the insane tech in this car, I can honestly say I love it! There are so many amazing features that far outweigh the small annoyances with the tech. The split tailgate is amazing 🤩

We love our car. We went from an BMW so wanted to keep the luxury. We needed a bigger car for grandkids. Love the technology, ease of getting in and out, and the upscale look. Also, with all the GM problems we wanted to still have an option for luxury. The navigator met all requirements. Highly recommend.

Love this car! The technology is amazing. It’s so comfortable to drive/be a passenger princess. The massage seats are such a luxury, especially as I spend my evenings driving and waiting for kids at sports. Very roomy. Easy to use car seats. A little tricky with multiple booster seats. Great car for lots of teens/older kids (my youngest is in booster and we drive neices/nephews in car seats/boosters a few times a month). I love the split tailgate. The blue cruise seemed great until my husband got a Tesla. Bluecruise is not near as advanced as Tesla. Love everything else about it though! It is a true luxury, dream car which has been amazing as I spend a lot of time driving kids around!

This car has been perfect for 3 kids in car seats. Many options for set up of car seats. It drives smooth and has good pick up. Some buttons are pulled out and it’s not all touch screen which is nice. Would purchase again!

I love my navigator L. I have 3 kids. 3 yr old in a Nuna exec and two twins in Nuna pipa’s we went with the bench seat and it fits them all perfectly. The drive is exceptional and it looks so pretty. I recommend it to everyone I know. My husband is even obsessed with it.

The 2026 Navigator is so comfortable to drive, has so much space for our family of 4, and has great safety features. Some of my favorite features are the new display screens, massaging seats, automatic running boards, smooth/quiet ride, etc. We previously had a 2021 Navigator L and I don't miss the extra trunk space with the split tailgate - great update! Two changes that I don't love are they didn't include a spot on the center console for a phone holder, except the wireless charger, and the air vents can only be adjusted on the center screen. I feel like I have to explain to every passenger how to navigate to the air vents on the screen to adjust their vents.

We have enjoyed this car. It has had its issues but Lincoln has always been on top of it. It is very comfortable to ride in. We have the massage feature and love it. It has bucket seats for the second row with nothing in between which is best for me since we have 4 boys under 10. There is a lot of movement happening back there. It was really great when they were all in car seats.

I didn’t realize that the bulky seats (for more luxury?) would be such a pain with car seats. Wish I had done more research about how big and bulky the front seats were. Other than that, I don’t have any real big complaints specifically. Overall, would be more inclined to recommend an Expedition for both the price and the roominess! Can’t wait to trade back.

Great for car seats, kids and hauling stuff. The bench seat and individual seats allow so much flexibility when it comes to car seat install. It’s very comfortable to ride in and not as difficult as it would seem to drive and park for a very large vehicle. Most of the technology is great, some of it is just a nuisance. I shouldn’t have to press 3 touch screen buttons to turn my lights on or adjust my air vents while trying to drive.

Chic AF mom car!! I’m obsessed. Was between the Escalade and the Nav and so happy we went with the Nav. The scents? Rejuvenate function? Massage seats are standard? Love the split lift gate- so nice for loading. Very comfy and spacious for all.

We leased this after owning two minivans. Specifically considering which I personally liked driving the best, I miss the 2011 Sienna we used to have compared to the Nav and the 2021 Sienna. We got it because our kids were getting bigger and we have a lot of sports-related driving trips. Having rented an Expedition, Grand Wagoneer and Escalade on previous out of state sports trips, we landed on the Navigator. And I can definitively say that I like the Nav better than any of the above SUVs. I do not really enjoy the massive screen that controls everything, including the AC etc. It is difficult to drive and effectively push those small buttons - I often accidentally push the wrong thing and it annoys me. There are absolutely NOT enough cup holders in the Nav. An offensively small amount. But if you have big kids who play lots of travel sports and you are looking for a full size luxury SUV - I definitely recommend this one. The second row is big enough for them to spread out. It is also very comfortable for adults. Third row is fine for extra kids when we’re carpooling. I want to add I have never used car seats in the Nav bc my kids are older. But I do not think I would enjoy so much climbing and lifting to put my little kids in car seats to get them buckled. Have babies/little kids in car seats? Do yourself a favor and get a minivan!

This is my dream mom car. I love it so much. I used to have a competitor large SUV and I was so upset after I had bought that one and then saw a Lincoln on a lot. A couple of years passed and I knew exactly what car I wanted. I have three children in varying age groups, and my older two are involved in many, many sports and activities. We are often in our car all throughout each day of the week. My baby is in a rear-facing car seat still, and my older two are in boosters. This car has gone on several long road trips and vacations and serves our needs perfectly. The trunk space, while still utilizing the third row, is spacious. Additionally, I was in a no-fault accident that could’ve ended up much worse than it did. I truly believe that our navigator kept us completely safe. As an aside, I had a tremendous experience with the C-suite representatives of the Ford/Lincoln company regarding my car during its repairs after the accident. I am a true believer in this brand, and would highly recommend the navigator L to anyone that is in the market

We really like our Lincoln Navigator! It’s been a great vehicle for our family. There’s plenty of room, and I love that it’s a vehicle that can grow with our family as the kids get older. We have the walk through in the 2nd row so what we lack in cup holder and storage, we have open floor space. The only downside for me is that the tech can feel a little clunky at times. My biggest complaint is the seat profiles — I wish they switched between drivers more easily or had a physical button as opposed to being within the infotainment screen. It’s a pretty minor thing overall, but it can definitely be frustrating when you switch drivers often. Overall, we’ve been really happy with it. It gives us the space we need for our family while still feeling like a luxury vehicle, which is exactly what we were looking for.

I will continue to buy this car until I’m ready to down size. She’s the perfect mix between elegance, speed, smoothness and space. Perfect for long road trips, daily driving and adding family additions. From Facebook market finds, Costco and all the kids - she’s got you covered (we have the long)! You sit in one vehicle then this and your body says ahhhh, this is so much better. Lol

Love this car! It is luxury in every detail. With two teen girls- and the extra friends that sometimes hop in (teens and adult couples) it is a perfect fit. Easy access to 3rd for teen/adults too! Screens are a statement and not distracting. Garage opener (actual buttons) on the sun visor (not in infotainment which is a huge plus for me. Enough cup holders for the drive thru pick ups for my girls and friends. Split tailgate is amazing- a must from here on out for me. Many other features are within the infotainment screen- but easy to learn and use. The exterior is stunning- comments on the color constantly!

Obsessed is an understatement. We upgraded from a 2019 Atlas with captains chairs when our third was 13 months. I have a 6 year old in a Graco Tranzitions with the seatbelt, 4 year old in a Graco Tranzitions with the harness in my outboard seats, and my baby rides in the middle of the second row bench in a rear facing Joie Saffron. I was shocked that all 3 car seats fit without issue. My kids are comfortable and my oldest is thrilled to be in the same row as his siblings instead of the "trunk" (third row) of our Atlas. The drive is smooth, and the massaging seats are now a perk I don't think I can live without. To me, it doesn't feel like a school bus. I love that I can toggle on the exterior cameras while I park to make sure I'm in the lines. I can fit an entire Costco haul in my trunk with the third row up and room to spare (that's with a box of size 5 diapers). I love that I now have space to give rides to friends. We're a road trip family so having the extra trunk space is 1,000% worth the larger daily driver. I truly have no complaints. We found ours used with 76,000 miles. She had a meticulous Carfax history, the transmission repair we all fear with a 2020 - 2023 Ford product was already completed, brand new brakes, and a full set of new tires. We purchased an additional 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty for peace of mind. I truly cannot recommend this car more. It's the practicality of the Expedition with the extra luxury that makes schlepping kids more a treat when I can get a massage in the pick up line.

I love everything about this car! We purchased it after watching countless Car Mom tours as we were looking for a car that performed well with 4 car seats -- not an easy feat! I was worried it would drive too heavy, like a truck. It is smooth! It is obviously a big car but I feel I can zip around in it - it has great pickup, isn't hard to park, but fits everything we need. I would 100% buy this car again and I love driving it. We have the captains chair version and I would do that again so older kids can easily access the 3rd row.

I have 5 kids in car seats. 7 and 5 year old in boosters in the back row fit perfect and the seat tilt lets them climb back no issues. I choose to have my 2 year old in the middle for easy access but i have put him in the back for road trips. For reference I have twin newborns that sit in the middle as well. It is three across friendly in both the middle and the back. Definitely get the bench for road trips for twins as I can sneak back and sit between them. I got the L version and it is great for family trips with five kids. Fits a stroller perfectly. Zero regrets about this car. LOVE LOVE LOVE IT

We just bought this car - pre owned. I’m OBSESSED with it. Highly recommend. It feels very luxurious, very spacious and drives incredibly smooth. I’m petite (5’3”) and was nervous about driving such a large vehicle and it doesn’t feel as big as it is IMO. Handles very well and is very smooth. Incredibly easy for me to drive and park. I feel very confident behind the wheel. There is SO MUCH room. We just had our 3rd and needed more space so badly (we had a Mazda cx 5) needed another row and trunk space and this car DELIVERS on that front. We just went to Tahoe with everyone and a 50lb dog and had MORE room to bring more stuff - and we have a baby! (Everyone knows babies require ALL the things). We were shocked there was more room. It’s easy for me to buckle my kids in the 3rd row. I love the climate control for the back - it actually cools down. You can move the seats with the touch of a button - very cool. There are very few things I don’t like but they are.. we are having issues with the sensors after we wash the car, they are bugging out and apparently it can be an issue we need to have fixed, I don’t like that the buttons to move the captain chairs are accessible from the 3rd row - my kids press them and the seats fly forward and I could see someone getting hurt if they are on it when pressed (should not be accessible by the 3rd row IMO), no rear view cam (my husband has this in his truck and it’s so cool - don’t understand why it’s not included). But other than that. Love the car. Love the body the interior, feels luxurious and there is so much room for our family which was the whole point.

It’s a great family car. I have the extended wheel base. I LOVE the 360 camera…makes it super easy to park and I love the auto hold feature for all my carpool line sitting! We have 2 kids in the 3rd row and a captain’s chair folded down for easy access and buckling. 1 baby in the other captain! Would entertain new one with a bench but overall not mad about captain’s chairs either.

I am a mom of 5, 3 currently in car seats and two in boosters and this car is amazing for our family. I can easily fit 3 kids in my 2nd row bench and use to car seat tilt to access the 3rd row. I can also fit 3 across in the 3rd row with the appropriate slim car seats/boosters. This vehicle is perfect for large families or people who carry a lot of kids around regularly because I am able to move my kids around as needed with the car seats I already have. The drive of this car is very smooth and the interior styling and features are great, I love all the upgrades it has from the Expedition Max. The only downside is all the controls are on the screen which I can get use to for almost everything but my least favorite feature is the fact you can’t control the air vents without going in the screen to do it. Also, this is a full size SUV and they all seem to have some issue at some point so I would recommend getting the extended warranty, my fuel pump broke with 12,000 miles on the car but other than that I have had no issues but I assume something will go wrong as we go on so I am glad I have the warranty to deal with it. Overall, I absolutely love this car and recommend it to anything who is looking for a large SUV.

So far we love this car. It’s very roomy & the seats are so comfortable. It drives very smooth. The air vents not being manual can be annoying. We have 2 girls and travel a lot for cheer competitions. More than enough space.

This is my first luxury car and I love it! Except I feel obligated to dress a little nicer when I’m driving 🤣. I have the reserve and no tvs in the second row which I’m happy about. I also have captain chairs which I prefer. My kids love it and it’s so nice for everyday and out roadtrips. I have the long and I think it’s 100% worth it. Yes it’s long but I have had no problems driving it. I live the split gate. I have two Evenflo revolve 360 slims in the second row and a diono high back booster in the third row. I love my split gate. I have the table set up thing for the trunk but I’ve never used it.

Obsessed with this car. Even though it’s a 2018 it’s the top trim, Black Label L, so it has more than I know what to do with! Have a diono booster, FF seat in the third row, rear facing seat in the captain and one captain outboard seat open. Love this configuration for me to help the kids in the back. Ceiling vents were a huge sell for me. The only thing my atlas was missing. Doesn’t feel like you’re driving a big bus. It turns so good. Drive thrus are easy enough. Overall love and will hopefully drive for a long time.

Drives smooth, love heads up display, auto hold. Lots of storage under console (side door cupholders not compatible for large water bottles). As 2 tall parents (5’11” & 6’2”) we can comfortably fit car seats behind us. We have captain chairs and it’s great if we need to use 3rd row. I do wish we had shades for second row. Overall it’s been a great car for us with no work done so far to it! Gas mileage in city is 17.2 mpg. Truck space is small (not max) but it fits what we need!

Overall, I love this car! It’s spacious for our family of 6! The car seat set up is incredible. The split tailgate is 10/10!!! The technology is a little silly and over the top - having to use the screen to adjust the air vents for one example. We’ve had a couple silly issues that you wouldn’t quite expect for the price point of the vehicle, but overall it’s a beautiful car and our family loves it!
