Car Mom Review

The Exterior

Up front, the chrome geometric grille makes a bold statement. The full-width LED lighting bar with daytime running lights is mesmerizing. The hood lines are subtle but strong, and everything feels intentional.

On the sides, the two-tone Calligraphy wheels are gorgeous—fresh, modern, and totally different from anything else on the road. There is a lot of chrome happening (window trim, door handles, faux running boards), which works if you like a polished, upscale look. The beltline is dramatic... almost shelf-like, but honestly? I kind of like it.

First Row

I’m just going to say it—I’m obsessed. The Calligraphy interior feels shockingly luxurious for the price. Quilted, perforated leather seats, textured chrome accents, premium speaker grilles—it’s giving full luxury vibes. The digital instrument cluster is sleek and customizable, and when you use your turn signal, it actually displays your blind spot camera feed in the gauge cluster. That alone feels high-end.You also get:The infotainment screen is seamlessly integrated and incredibly user-friendly. Add in Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Hyundai’s signature features like:

  • Passenger Talk (front mic plays your voice through rear speakers)
  • Quiet Mode (mutes rear speakers when kids fall asleep)
  • Sounds of Nature (built-in sound machine—yes please)

It’s functional and fun, which is hard to nail.

  • Heads-up display (speed, navigation, calls—without taking your eyes off the road)
  • Adaptive cruise control with distance settings
  • Gorgeous steering wheel controls that are intuitive and easy to use

This “bridge-style” center console gives major minivan convenience—without driving a minivan.

Highlights:

  • Wireless charging + USB
  • Adjustable cup holders (I’ve personally fit four drinks here)
  • Hidden purse/phone grabber (elite mom feature)
  • Deep center console with USB + 12V outlet

Everything has a place, and that matters when you’re living the family life.

Second Row

Second-row highlights:

  • Ceiling vents (we love to see it)
  • Multiple cup holders (great for kids)
  • USBs on the sides of the seats
  • Rear climate controls

You can choose bench seating (8-passenger) or captain’s chairs (7-passenger). The bench is not three across compatible. So if you have three or more kids in carseats, I  wouldn't recommend the Hyundai Palisade, but there are plenty other mid size SUVs that would work for you! (VW Atlas, Chevy Traverse, etc.)

Another thing to note in the second row, the buckles are shallow and rigid which may make it difficult for booster age children to buckle. Scroll to the end to find our booster recommendations for the Palisade!

Car Seat Setup:

This is where things get tricky.

  • Second row: two lower anchors on outboard seats, three top tethers
  • Third row: one set of lower anchors, two top tethers—but placement makes it nearly impossible to use two seats back there at once

In real-world testing with rear- and forward-facing seats:

  • The third row is very difficult for large car seats
  • Seat belt overlap and narrow seating create safety concerns
  • Non-removable headrests complicate tethering
  • Best suited for boosters or older kids, not multiple bulky car seats

I successfully installed a forward-facing seat in the third row, which was encouraging. Rear-facing seats can work, but space is tight. This vehicle is:

  • Great for two car seats
  • Fine for older kids
  • Not ideal for three car seats, especially rear-facing

Third Row

Third row access is easy—especially with the child-friendly buttons that let seats fold forward without adult strength. I appreciate that detail a lot.

Once you’re back there:

  • Decent knee room
  • Ceiling vents (yes!)
  • Cup holders
  • No USBs on this trim (higher trims offer them)

Here’s the honest part: while Hyundai says there are three seats in the third row, that middle position is extremely narrow. I personally consider this a 7-passenger vehicle, not a true 8.

The third row is challenging for car seats because it's shallow which impacts the overhang of the car seat and leg room in any kid in a car seat or booster. Poorly placed LATCH allows for limited places to put car seats.

No items found.

Trunk

With the third row up, space is tight—but there’s a hidden lower compartment that saved the day. I was able to fit my stroller by using that extra depth. It’s not minivan-level cargo, but it’s respectable for the class.

Safety

The 2022 Hyundai Palisade was awarded Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS.

It comes standard with the Hyundai SmartSense suite, offering advanced driver-assistance features like Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, and Driver Attention Warning with higher trims adding Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist, Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist, Highway Drive Assist, and a Surround View Monitor for comprehensive safety, earning top ratings from safety organizations.

This car is such a great non-mini van option for families with multiple kids. I have the captains chairs and have two car seats in each and one kid in the back. It has several family friendly features like passenger talk and sleep sounds that we have absolutely loved.

The car’s AC broke 1 year after purchase but was fixed without issue. We have had some difficulty with the tire pressure monitoring system alerting us but then going off very quickly. It makes it difficult for mechanics to figure out an issue because it isn’t staying on.

Overall- I do love this car. It’s good for our family! I do with the third row was larger. It’s a great car for road trips and driving other people around. Great for carpools!

Great car for my two kids my only regret is getting captains chairs and not a bench because I like to have the third row down most of the time.

Really do like this vehicle! Technology is top notch! We have the calligraphy so it has all the bells and whistles. My next car will have a lot to live up to to compare! Love all the features! We have a high back booster and convertible (britax boulecard) in the second row. And my oldest sits in the third row. My husband is 6’3” and was able to set the seat where he wanted even with the big convertible car seat behind him. Do wish there were only two seats in the third row to make it more comfortable instead of the pointless middle seat, but that was not a dealbreaker! Trunk works fine for a larger single stroller. Do love this car, even if at times it does feel tight with my three boys and all their sports gear and what not.

I love this car! When I found out I was pregnant with our third child, I knew I needed something bigger than my crossover- strollers, extra car seat, groceries, etc. I love the size of the Palisade because it fits in my “literally nothing but two cars fit in this 2 car garage” garage but also has the feel of a full size SUV. My kids can all fit comfortably, and if needed we can take a couple more kids home in carpool! The technology is awesome, I love the Apple CarPlay integration, the wireless charging and plenty of ports to charge devices on long road trips-iykyk. The interior is sleek and still has the “cool, modern” feel to it- not just a mom car style. Overall, so impressed and in love with my Palisade!

This car has been nothing but problem since 62,000 miles. I have continuously brought it into the dealership and they have just told me they can’t figure out the problem. We’ve replaced, spark plugs, injectors, suspension twice, oil housing, we’ve done carbon cleanouts, fuel injection services, transmission fluid exchange, and basically everything they’ve ever asked of me when I bring it into Hyundai. I brought it to Hyundai dealership 27 times in three years. I even have text messages of them telling me to keep driving it until it fully fails and then they’ll be able to help me because no engine light means “no problem” in their eyes. And yet here we are now the engine has completely failed and nobody is willing to help. It’s been failing since 60,000 miles and it was just choking at red lights and hesitating every now and then and now it’s fully blown and they’re all turning an eye. Hyundai has refused to take responsibility, and after doing a bunch of research, apparently the GDI engines are known for oil consumption issues, causing carbon buildup and that’s how they get out of covering an engine. They may tell you it’s bumper-to-bumper warranty but in reality, they’re able to get out of it by claiming carbon buildup or “outside influences” as an exclusion So much money has been poured into this vehicle to try and make it run correctly because I love the technology, space, and design. But that’s what gets you, the actual engine and run of the vehicle is trash

This car is the perfect mix of luxury + affordable. It’s beautiful AND functional. It’s big but not a bus. I love all the tech features including the large screen, heated steering wheel, lane assist, trunk auto opens when I walk by with my keys (perfect when I have the baby with me and need to load the stroller), 360 camera, I could go on and on. Before this car, I was alwaysss wanting to trade in and get a different car. Now I’m obsessed and want to keep her forever.

We chose this as our family car when expecting our first baby. The deciding factor for us was the second row leg room - my husband is very tall and most cars we test drove did not comfortably fit a car seat behind him. This is very spacious and comfortable. Love the tech and the design. The only negative so far is that now with two car seats in the captain’s chairs, we’re feeling a little tight on space overall.

The technology on this car is amazing especially for the price point. The options you get are what you expect when paying 20k more the car. I love the light interior especially on hot days. The second row is comfortable for adults and teens. The 3rd row fits adults and teens but is a little cramped if using for a long ride. The frustration I have with the interior is the seat belts in the 2nd row. The buckle is in the seat and not on the side of the seat. For booster seats we had to find a slimmer booster so it was easy enough for the 6 year old to buckle and buckle themselves. It is possible just more difficult with the wrong booster seat. When my child was in a 5 point harness seat this was not an issue. It has ceiling vents and rear controls for heat/ac. The 2nd row also has heated and ventilated seats (the teens love this haha). The cargo space is plenty for a small stroller and still get groceries. We did struggle a little with space when we needed the 3rd row and also luggage for vacation. But it did work. We have loved this car for over 2 years and while we have looked at others, we have not found anything we like more/enough to trade this in.

This car absolutely works for 2 kids. Initially I thought we would be able to have room for dogs in the trunk with luggage and kids in the backseat for long trips. No. This car is GREAT for everyday driving and local driving. It can work for long distances if you don’t need to also bring a dog and large baby items! I have the SE so a true key to crank and not even an automatic trunk. I still love this car! I have 2 rear face kiddos in outer back seats. One in the evenflo revolve 360 and the other in the evenflo revolve slim on a bench seat. The third row is a little cramped with how we have it set for everyday use (when the 3rd row is down). When we need it I just need to adjust the backseat and maybe the passenger seat to allow more leg room for the third row! I would absolutely buy this car again for 2 kids!

Good car for family of 4. Cons: Disappointed in rear driver side door's peeling paint (it is covered by manufacturer) because honestly who has time to be without the family car for a week. Tech is great, until it isn't. Have to use adaptor for my Pixel phone to connect; hasn't been connecting properly for past 2 months. Driver's side door sounds cheap when closing. Overall, feels cheap. Pros: Night edition looks so nice. Heads up display is a game-changer, GPS directions display in HUD which is AMAZING, blind spot in turn signal also a game changer, birds eye camera is amazing. Best part is that you can back out of spaces without having to get into the car (people park too close and you don't want to door-ding, just use the key fob to back it out).

This is my second purchase of a Palisade! Love the look, drive and technology features for the price. Only con is as we possibly transition to a family of 5, with all kids being in carseats that require help due to age - not sure if it will remain the right car for us.

The Hyundai Palisade is a beautiful car. The inside feels luxurious and gives off a high end experience. However, we have had many problems with a lot of the automatic features such as the trunk door, sunroof, as well as oil leaking, battery dying within a year of purchase. We have also had issues with various repairs. And the screen is now becoming faulty.

Absolutely LOVE my Palisade! Gives enough room without being a large SUV. Comfortable for driver and passengers. Great gas mileage! Only have 2 negatives. First is it doesn’t have a bench second row. Didn’t think it would be an issue was I was thinking to future where my 2 kids would land be in car seats, but really wish I had it when we got it (youngest was an infant and needed more attention when we where in the car). Second complaint is that the second row anchors and seat belt latch are super recessed making it hard for car seat installations and my now 7yo trying to buckle in a booster. Otherwise, HIGHLY recommend for families.

Have a 2023 SEL w/ premium package. Has all the bells and whistles I wanted including sun shades, sun roof, winter package (heated steering wheel/seats) and all safety features. Small trunk if third row is in use which could be an issue if we decide to have a third child.

I love this car! I had my last car for 13 years and was overdue for a new, safer car for my kids. I shopped for years and watched every Car Mom review on SUV’s. I l ew immediately this was the one. I’m not a tech person but the advanced tech features are super cool and helpful. I would buy this car again if I had to.

Consistent issues! Took it in and out of the shop 12+ times for an engine issue and fuel injector issues. They completely replaced the electrical box and fuel injectors many times. Still consistent issues. Thankful it was all under warranty but sold the car as soon as it occurred again, same issue, outside of warranty. I will never buy Hyundai again unfortunately even though this car fit our family physically beat out of all the SUVs, including ford. I am 6’3” husband 6’4”

I really like my car and it has been great for our family.! I do have the Calligraphy model (highest trim level) and it feels luxurious (even compared to my friends' cars that have "luxury" cars)! I love the buttons and knobs and most of the tech (which I probably still don't know how to use all of). A few things I don't like about it is that I can't put the sideview mirrors in/out electronically. You have to roll the window down and manually pull them in and out. Which is fine, except I have to do that every time I pull in/out of our garage. Hoping they added this feature in the newer models. The other issue is the seatbelts in the second row. They are situated so far down on the seat, it took my youngest forever to be able to buckle. (And then he could only buckle because we finally moved him to a different booster seat). I don't love that you have to plug your phone in before Apple Car Play will work and I don't think the hands free calling is great. I had a Santa Fe before getting this car, and the handsfree calling worked amazing. It has never worked the same in my Palisade. Just a few gripes!

This car has been absolutely solid for us. We love the exterior styling, the interior comfort and all the technology that the Calligraphy trim level offers. We only have 2 kids, but the six-seater is perfect for picking up friends or family and the space in the third row is excellent. Trunk space is good and the extra compartment in the floor makes a huge difference. While not the most powerful drive, it is smooth and reliable. We have had zero issues and would definitely buy again.

I love my palisade. As the years go on, I’m wanting upgraded technology, but the car itself has always been safe, spacious, and low maintenance. It’s great for road trips, everyday, and is always plenty of room.

Great for 2 kids with lots of leg room in the two captain chairs. Booster/car seat fit with room to move driver/passenger seat back. It might be a bit tight if any more children or adults sit in the 3rd row. As an adult I feel I could comfortably sit back there alone; but with limited trunk space- due to the third row. Air vents/warners in all seats. Air vents in ceiling above each row. Trunk space is doable with third row up but only for smaller trips and small stroller folded sideways. With third row put down there is ample room for a stroller, sports chairs, groceries, etc. Plenty of charging ports in the seats/third row whether it is c-charger or usb. I like that I can put the child lock on with a push of a button.

It’s a great spacious car if you’re not needing a large trunk. We have however taken this car as a family of 5 on multiple 15+ hr road trips with it packed with everything for a beach vacation no problem! We usually put the larger side of the 3rd row down with one older child on the opposite side. When grocery shopping without the kids the third row down with the larger trunk space is amazing!

Overall I loved my Palisade. Main complaint is the ongoing oil consumption issue and lack or oil level sensors to alert the owner if oil is low. It runs solely off oil pressure for alerts and by the time that would alert, damage is already done. It you know to watch it closely and maybe do more frequent oil changes than recommended you would be good. LOVED everything else about the vehicle.

Love this car especially when I had 2 children, 3 it gets a little tight but oldest can sit in the front now so that helps. I prefer captain seats and then I usually have the back all the way down or at least 60% down if a kid is back there. I love the heads up display and the design on the seats. I have the calligraphy model and there isn’t anything I would really change about it!

We love it. Haven’t had any problems over the last almost 3 years. The only thing is is that we almost always have the third seat halfway folded down so we have more trunk space to haul all the sports things. Our middle child (8 years old) sits in one seat with a booster back there, but we use the other side to pack stuff. When the third seat is in full use, the trunk space gets tight, but still doable.

This car has been so great for having 2 and now 3 kids. I currently have 1 FF in the third row, 1 RF in the second row and 1 infant seat RF in the second row (captain chairs). I did used to climb in the back through the trunk to buckle my son in the 3rd row, which I didn’t think was a big deal but he can safely buckle and unbuckle himself now so it’s easy having him in the third row. The ceiling air vents are great. I love the storage compartment in the trunk for keeping extra clothes/diapers/travel potty without it taking up any extra space in the car. The screen and camera view is large, clear and easy to use. The backup camera and sensors is helpful, as well as the collision warning system. The car drives smoothly and it just looks good IMO!

Love my car! It’s the limited trim with captains seats. Wish there was better space for second row when the car seats are in. Now that they are both forward facing it’s better. Love the interior styling, and the tan interior.

LOVE, this car. It’s comfortable, feels luxurious and rides good. We love the space, storage, ceiling vents, cup holders, leg room etc. My only cons are, I hate the emergency breaking it goes off when backing out of the garage and down our steep driveway and it scares us every time because it jerks. We also don’t love how it works with two drivers. You have to switched on the screen and moves the seat 3 times.

BLUF: Great family SUV for 2 kids, but the third row has some limitations for 3 kids We’ve had our 2022 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy and overall, I really like this vehicle. For a family with two kids, it’s a fantastic SUV. I also love the way it drives, the technology, and all the little convenience features. It feels much more upscale than you might expect. Where it falls short for a larger family is the third row. If you need to put a third car seat back there, I would definitely test your specific car seats before buying. The front-facing tether/anchor locations are particularly frustrating. Because of where they’re positioned, it’s realistically difficult to fit more than one car seat back there, which really limits the usefulness of the third row for families with three kids in car seats. The second-row captain’s chairs are excellent, but if you’re taller, pay attention to the size of your rear-facing car seat. A bulky rear-facing seat can take up quite a bit of the space behind the front seats, so this is another thing I’d test before purchasing. The other major downside is the trunk space with the third row in use. It’s very small. With all three rows up, you really can’t fit much beyond a compact stroller and a few smaller bags. If you’re regularly hauling a full-size stroller, groceries, or luggage for the whole family, you’ll quickly run out of room. That said, I still really enjoy this vehicle. It drives great, has excellent technology and features, and is extremely comfortable for everyday family use. For a family with two kids, I think it’s an excellent choice. For three kids who all need car seats, I’d be much more cautious and would prioritize testing the actual car-seat setup and checking your cargo needs before buying.

We bought our 2022 Hyundai Palisade Limited after watching several of Kelly’s tours and test driving the Mazda CX90 and the Acura MDX. We couldn’t be happier and have absolutely loved it. We bought it in March 2022 4 months before our son was born. At the time we had a 13 year old son and 4 year old daughter. The car was and has been perfect for every stage of our lives thus far. The 13 year old who is now 18 got the third row to himself and the 4 year old who is now 9 and the baby who is now 4 each had a captains chair in the second row. Now the 9 year old is in a peg perego booster in the third row because the second row buckle is too far down for her to be able to buckle it on her own. As for the 4 year old, well he has had several different car seats that have all worked wonderfully. He started in a Nuna Pipa with the RELX base with load leg. Then he went to a Clek Foonf rear facing. We had a wreck with minor damage so it needed replaced and we got a Nuna Exec which we love. We also have a Nuna Rava that he switches between and we love it too! Oh and I almost forgot, the 9yo was in a Chicco MyFit for several years before the booster, and it worked great in the second row but was a super tight fit in the third row due to its height. We have taken this car on many family trips/vacations where we took my MIL with us so 3 adults and 3 children and while it was tight it worked and that was without any luggage carrier in the top etc. I will say, if you’re a sports mom/family and have tons of gear in your car frequently then it may be a little tight but you can definitely make it work. There are times where I wish I had a bigger car but never so badly that I want to trade it and get a higher payment lol. It’s more just a comfort and liking lots of space thing. Anyways if you’ve made it to the end then congratulations, lol. And if you buy this car I hope you love it as much as our family has!

We love our Palisade for our family car. The Calligraphy trim level is beautiful and is loaded with tech. Very comfortable and drives great. My biggest complaint is the rear seat belt buckles are recessed making it difficult for my daughter to buckle in her booster seat. Other than that temporary issue we love this car!

Love my car overall. This works great for 2 kids in carseats R&F facing. I have had a few issues with the oil leaking - they just recalled the oil filter housing. I mostly drive around with the 3rd row down and use the space to haul items, but have used the 3rd row when we have family in town. My sister and I used it to take 5 kids in carseats/booster seats through Yellowstone NP. It fit us great.

I have LOVED my Palisade. Super reliable, great quality, feels so luxurious inside. I got every single tech and safety features available that I wanted without having to pay the price of a luxury vehicle. Ride is smooth, great for 2 kids. I grew up with SUVs that had captains chairs, so I didn't even think about getting one with a bench... in hindsight, partially wish I had gotten the bench vs. captains chairs so an adult could sit between the two car seats on road trips. My husband has a F150 which has turned into our family road trip car instead bc of the 2nd row bench and amazing truckbed/trunk space. I mostly drive my Palisade to/from work, local errands, and school and it's great. Would love to own a hybrid version in the future. Overall, VERY few complaints and very happy with my car!

I really like this car! Bought after Kelly recommended it!!! I honestly think it works great for three kids (but only one of mine is in a car seat now). My one negative that moms need to know is the second row captains chair seat belt is so recessed, it is nearly Impossible for a child to buckle their own booster. I had to buckle My middle child’s booster for her, and for my third child I got a Chicco my fit so she can stay harnessed longer.

I LOVE my Palisade! As a mom of two, with the third row down I have ample trunk space for all of their things and the rear ceiling vents were the deciding factor for this car. I don’t know how we ever owned a car without ceiling vents for rear passengers. The Palisade offers a smooth ride with all of the bells and whistles of a luxury car, without the price tag.

Love this car! We did purchase it when we had 2 kids. We now have 3 and it is a little tight with the third row up for longer trips, but we make it work. I like the car enough that it’s not worth trading in. The interior and tech is high end for the price point of the car IMO. Overall, I absolutely love this car and would purchase again. The only downside is the trunk space with 3 kiddos in car seats. We may add a hitch to use for a small carrier to combat that issue.

I love this car. In the driver’s seat I am so comfortable. I have all of the features I want, easy infotainment, climate control, seat and steering wheel heaters, seat ventilation. The 2nd row has so much leg room! I have 2 Clek Fllo’s, we started with both rear facing and now have one turned forward facing. We are never short on space. 2nd row has great climate and comfort features (ceiling vents, sun shades, middle seat folds down to give my kids cup holders and a snack/toy shelf). An adult can sit in 2nd row between the car seats fairly comfortably. 3rd row access is not ideal with our seats installed, but we rarely use our 3rd row. When we do, we often climb in through trunk. With 3rd row down the trunk is HUGE! We can easily pack for family trips, including camping gear or ski gear and a dog. We often have family picnics in the trunk! I have had no significant mechanical issues. Gas mileage is average, we wished there had been a hybrid option when we purchased. One negative I can think of is this vehicle has had several recalls, which have never impacted the car’s functionality, but our dealerships struggle to keep up with the demand for parts when these recalls occur so they are often difficult to resolve.

So far has been a good car for 2 kids (2 and newborn). I love that it has ceiling vents. My husband and I are decently tall (6’5” and 5’9”) and can fit a rotating car seat behind the drivers seat. The trunk holds a a BOB stroller + nuna stroller and bassinet attachment. We will only plan to trade this car for a full size SUV if we have 3 kids just for more space for mom and dad.

This is a super functional car for a family with 1-2 kids, travels with other people often (grandparents) and/or pets. I am 5’ 8” and can sit in the second or third row if needed and I am comfortable. The middle seat of the third row is not usable (so small), so I would comfortably travel with us to six people. Second row has tilt and slide capability, which is nice when you need to get into and out of third row. Third row folds up easily and you can also fold up half if you want. My one complaint about the technology is sometimes you have to plug and replug in the cord for the Apple car play.

We bought this 2023 Palisade before the birth of our second babe. We ended up with captains chairs which we love but we knew we wouldn’t be needing 3 across. Husband is 6’4” and drives the car frequently and we were able to rear face a Nuna rava behind the drivers seat with him still being comfortable (tight though!). We mostly keep third row down and use the larger trunk space. We have held an adult passenger in the third row and they had no complaints!

This was the car we chose once we decided to move on from a minivan and it was a great choice! We have two kids who were 10 and 12 at the time and the second row is perfection for them. We keep the third row up mostly and use it weekly for carpool. Trunk space is good for that! We travel up north for a 14 hr drive and the car handles well with our stuff!

I absolutely love this car. I had a VW Jetta and had my first baby. I would have stayed with Jetta Girl, but my husband wanted me to have a new car. I test drove the Atlas and Palisade and simply liked the updates the Palisade had to offer at the time. It was new, techy (I’d never had Apple Car Play) and I liked the 3 row option. We ended up with the captain’s chairs and it has served us well. Currently fits 2 kids comfortably. We use the 3rd row often for grandparents to sit back there on short trips/errands. Mostly comfortable with 2 in the 3 row. A 3rd person would not fit comfortably. I like having the option of having the 3rd row down for grocery hauls and overall it functions well for our family. Mine is not leather, which is a bit of a bummer, but overall she’s easy to keep clean. Would I buy another Palisade? Probably so- would love the hybrid option. But with all the competition like the Traverse, Pathfinder, or Grand Highlander, I’d be curious to see what else is out there.

We have the bench seat and I love how this car functions with the third row completely flat! Works great for our family of five with all the trunk space when the third row is down! However, when the third row is up, the trunk space is quite limited and much too small for my daily needs.

We’ve loved our Palisade for 2 kids. Mom can ride between car seats on the bench seat when needed. We use the Evenflo revolve360 slim seats. We keep the 3rd row folded down for extra trunk space and can fit our wagon and Bob stroller in the trunk at the same time. We live in MN and it’s great to drive in the snow and ice. Ceiling vents are a nice perk as well as sunshades. Our only issue beyond regular maintenance was the radiator going out after 2 years but it was still under warranty so not an issue. We use a Bluetooth connector for Apple CarPlay since it only connects via cord in this model year. Overall a great car and so glad we got it for this stage of life.

Love this car. Love the cup holders. Hate the recalls. Drive regularly with my 4 year old forward facing in her evenflo revolve 360, my 6’3” husband, and my MIL (lives with us). Everyone is comfortable. Also plan to have another kid and not worried about fitting!

This car has grown with our family from 2 in rear facing car seats to two booster seats. My husband who is 6’5” had enough leg room as a driver and passenger with both types of car seats set ups. The limited trim level safety features are the best! I feel so safe inside and outside the car.

Palisade Limited; leather interior, dual-pane sunroof, bucket seats, fully loaded with top tech and safety features. Mom of two- 4yo & 2yo. Owned for 2 years and zero complaints- has worked so well as a family car. I love the ceiling vents, as living in MN, this is crucial in both the heat and cold. Sunshades are a must👌🏼. I love the blind-spot view monitors, which allow a camera to appear when putting on your blinkers. This is a great safety feature when living in a large metropolitan area- allows for additional visibility, which I love. Cup holders are perfect, however I wish the door cupholders were larger. Lastly, I appreciate the open cubby underneath the center console- I can’t imagine not having it! Overall, we have loved our palisade for our family of 4!

The palisade has been great for two kids and two large dogs. The third row is large enough to fit an adult comfortably when needed. We have a Rava and Poplar rear facing with plenty of room for a tall passenger. Honorable mention — so many cup holders!

This is a great car I got from watching Car Mom’s review - my husband was so impressed! Amazing style, quality, and fit for our family (2 littles and a dog). I keep the 3rd row down mostly to make it more of a spot for our lab, but when being used the third row is so spacious. It can fit my 6’3” husband and his long legs comfortably which is unheard of! Love the captain chairs in the second row and has the button for easy third row access. Vents on the ceiling and sun shades are a nice feature. I am slightly hesitant about road trips where we’ll need the trunk space knowing a third kid could be in our future, but for 2 kids it’s perfect. Be cautious of the multiple safety recalls and make sure to get them corrected!

My Palisade has been the perfect vehicle for our family with two kids! It’s incredibly spacious, and even my 6-foot husband can drive comfortably with a rear-facing car seat directly behind him. I also quickly got used to the button shifting, and now I actually love it! The air vents in both the second and third rows are amazing, and I honestly couldn’t imagine having a family SUV without them now. I do have three complaints. First, I really wish this model came with a bench seat instead of captain’s chairs. I’d love to be able to sit between my kids on longer trips. Second, around 90,000 miles, the shifting has started to feel a little clunky. We’ve had it checked at dealerships, but no one has been able to give us a clear answer as to why. We’ve changed the oil religiously, kept up with the transmission fluid, and take exceptional care of the vehicle, so this has been frustrating. Lastly, getting into the third row with car seats installed can be a bit of a struggle. Overall, though, I absolutely love my Palisade and would choose it again for our family. It has been comfortable, spacious, and incredibly family-friendly!

We bought this car when we had one child, and we are now expected our third! We have really enjoyed this car thus far, but are very aware of the challenges we will face now that we’re expecting number 3. As far as the exterior goes we love the front grill, and the headlights. It makes the car look futuristic and more expensive than it is. I do think it can be a head turner on the road. I do wish it was a bit more boxy, which is the case with the newer models now. The car performs pretty well. It is a smooth ride but it doesn’t mask sound well. I often have to turn the radio up high to hear it. I’ve also had a couple instances when the car didn’t properly shift into the next gear and I stalled for a few seconds. It fixed itself, but still not great! I love the technology in the car, but wish it had wireless Apple car play. The seats are very comfortable in the front and I love having the option to ventilate or heat them. The second row has been great for two kids, but I’m not sure how we will fit three if at all. Utilizing the third row is only possible if the children riding in the third row climb through the trunk. I put a slimfit 3lx in the middle seat and the outside seat to try and utilize the tilt and slide of that solo third seat, but it didn’t work because the car seat in the middle blocked the chair from fully folding and sliding. So it’s great for 2 but very challenging for more than 2 in car seats. The third row is comfortable for 2 people but definitely not for more than 2. Having ceiling vents back there makes it that much more comfortable. I’ve put two boosters back there and they seemed to fit nicely. The challenge is just getting the kiddos back there. Overall I LOVE my car, but will be looking into a better set up now that we are expecting number 3!

This is a great family car. I have the bucket seats and lay my third row down for extra storage. It’s working well for my family of 2! My only con is that my son who recently moved to a high back booster struggled to buckle himself due to the recessed buckle. The Graco booster covered the buckle slightly too, so we went with a Chicco Cleartex and it’s better! Drives smooth in all conditions. I love the lane assist and automatic braking during cruise control. I also like the ceiling vents for great airflow to my kids!

I absolutely love this car! It feels so comfortable and looks luxurious. We got such a great deal on this because it was redesigned in 2025. It’s the calligraphy trim and I honestly can’t imagine having anything less than that for any future car. The drive is so nice, it handles like a dream. My teenager that is learning to drive prefers to drive this because of the safety features. I feel confident when she’s driving it too! The second row is made for long road trips with its features in mind for the back seat passenger. It has heated and cooled seats for the front and second row. The third row has heated seats which are so nice during winter. We’ve had the car for just a year now and we love it more every day. Kelly’s review on the palisade is what sold us on the purchase. Also- following Kelly helped us know to move on this pre-owned deal because of the redesign that happened. Highly recommend this car for anyone with growing kids out of car seats! Everyone is comfortable and we feel stylish too. :)

This car has been a great family car for the past 5 years. We have captains in 2nd row. 7YO in nuna AACE in row 3 and 5 year old row 2 Nuna Rava. 2 year old row 2 Nuna Rava. Good amount of space for us. We did have one incident a couple of years ago where the car just died. It ended up being a battery issue and we haven’t had any problems since. It’s reliable. It’s safe. The tech is good. We really like it. It does feel a little low to the ground compared to our Jeep Grand Cherokee. One thing I dislike is that the button to lock and unlock on door handles can sometimes be finicky. I wish there was a button like this on the back doors. Overall great family car and will work for 3 kids. We prefer captains so my older child can crawl through the middle.

I LOVE my 2021 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy trim (highest trim and AWD) with captains chairs. It has seen a few snow (mostly ice) storms in north Texas and the AWD drive has handled great. Performance is overall good, I wish it got little better MPG as I realistically get around 20 MPG. The technology is great and I don’t know how I’ll ever live without blinker cameras again. The only tech issues I’ve ran into is with apple carplay occasionally throwing a black screen when starting up. I’ve replaced many cords and that seems to help that issue. 9 times out of 10 you can unplug from the usb in the car and plug back in and it will work again. I bought this car upon college graduation and it’s since been great for road trips with friends, welcoming our first baby and more recently 2 rear-facing car seats. In the pictures I am comparing the Cybex Callisto G 360, Uppababy Mess Max and Nuna Rava. The Cybex takes up about the same space as the infant bucket seat and possibly a hair more. You can NOT scoot the seat all the way back with either. The Nuna Rava on recline 5 (most upright) will allow the front seat to move all way way back without touching. The seat in front of the Cybex in these pictures is set for myself (5’ 8”) and my husband (6’) can also drive but I would say that’s the absolute max. The Nuna Rava is compact enough to accommodate taller drivers in this car. The second row is on tracks and is all the way back in these pictures. The third row is great for a mid-size and I’ve had plenty of adult friends ride back there for 2 hours with minimal complaints. The trunk space isn’t huge with the third row up but I can fit my Uppababy Vista stroller and my baby’s Upseat on the side. I leave the third row down 90% of the time. I’ve had minimal reliability issues. The oil filter housing did leak and I got it fixed. I was told that is common on these cars. Otherwise in 5 years and 120k miles, there’s been no issues! It fits my family great and I love everything about it!

This car has grown with our family! We bought it with 2 children, and we were unsure if we would have a third baby. I love driving the car (I previously drove a Hyundai Sonata). The car feels luxurious, the technology is good, and I have good visibility to see my family. My 6 year old sits in the third row, and my other two are in captains chairs in the second row. Love the sunshades!

The car’s AC broke 1 year after purchase but was fixed without issue. We have had some difficulty with the tire pressure monitoring system alerting us but then going off very quickly. It makes it difficult for mechanics to figure out an issue because it isn’t staying on.

Love my car! We have two kids in car seats and a large dog. We have captains chairs and keep the third row down for the dog. Love the drive. Its smooth. Sometimes adults (in laws) sit in the third row and it's ok if you are short but anything over 5'8 has tight leg space. Would buy a Palisade again in a heart beat!

I absolutely love my Hyundai Palisade! It’s been such a great family vehicle and has the perfect combination of comfort, space, safety, and style. I love how smooth and comfortable it is to drive, and it has been especially great for road trips and everyday life with kids. I gave the technology 4.5 stars only because my particular model does not have wireless Apple CarPlay. It’s a small inconvenience, but otherwise I really love the technology and features the Palisade offers. I rated the third-row comfort 3 stars because the third row is fairly small and doesn’t offer a lot of legroom. It really feels like there are only two truly comfortable/usable seats back there. That said, I didn’t purchase the Palisade specifically for the third row—it was more of a bonus for our family—so this hasn’t been a major issue for me. I also gave reliability 4 stars because of the number of recalls associated with the vehicle. Personally, though, I have had no issues with my Palisade and have found it to be extremely reliable. I feel very safe driving it and have been really happy with its overall performance. Overall, I would absolutely recommend the Palisade. It has been a fantastic family SUV, and I would happily choose it again!

We love this car for our family with 2 car seat kids! Seats move easily on a track. Trunk space is pretty good with extra storage under trunk. Difficult to get in 3rd row if both car seats are using Tether/seatbelt method because you can’t use the track to slide the seat up or tilt it. Love Apple car play and screen is nice. Love the black rims on exterior.

It’s very similar to the Telluride… but I like the body of the Telluride better. I removed the factory roof racks and it looks better. I hate the captain chairs in the back. Never again! My son hates my car- I think it’s because we’re not sitting high. The auto stop/start is annoying since you have to press the button every time. I like it. I don’t love it.

Love the Hyundai palisade! My only main gripe with it is the trunk space is not very large if you have the 3rd row in use. The technology is great for the most part but sometimes the apple CarPlay does not work which is frustrating. Besides that I love it!

I love my Palisade! It’s an excellent fit for myself and my son, and worked well when we also traveled with a large dog (who has since passed 😢). I love that the trunk space is large enough to have a “picnic” in the rain, change my sons’s clothes and diapers, etc. Car seat install is easy - lower anchors are very accessible. I have captains chairs and sometimes wish I had a bench, but the trim level did not come in a bench. After nearly 80,000 miles together I would buy this car again and recommend it to any mom of 1-2 kids!

We owned this car for 2 years. When we bought it we had 2 kids ages 7 and 8 at the time and were preganant with our 3rd. We LOVED it during this phase. We had captains chairs, the comfort was there, with the back row down we had tons of space for travel etc (we go to the lake about 2 hrs away A LOT). Once we had the baby all was still pretty good, except space in the trunk was a lot harder since we needed the back row, but with some Jenga we could make it work. Honestly we loved her, then came baby #4 and with 2 car seats and 2 older kids we were just maxed out, it was hard for the older kids to get to the back row (no car seat tilt on the 2023) and we didn't have room for everything in the trunk. We added a hitch and got a rack for extra "trunk" space for travel. That worked for awhile, but ultimately we ended up trading her in and going the minivan route due to space and 3rd row access. We had Emerald green and her name was Oz. HIGHLY recommend that exterior color, we got TONS of compliments and it is such a fun color without being super out there!

Really comfortable family car for 1-2 children. We've used the Doona, Evenflo Gold Revolve 360 Slim, and the Graco Slimfit3 LX and all have enough clearance on the driver's side behind my husband who is 6'2". We found the 3rd row was a little tight for RF, but didn't try a lot of other seats. Wish the Car Play was bluetooth, but not too inconvenient. Overall, love this car and wish we could have made it work for three but went with the Carnival because we were so happy with the Palisade!

I love the pallisade. I like the interior setup and the display. I love CarPlay! My kids have plenty of space in the second row and can fit comfortably in the third. The third row isn’t as spacious for adults but great for kids.

I have loved driving my Palisade as a mom of two. I have captains chairs in the second 4 and find it spacious for my family. The third row offers reasonable seating for adults especially for short distances (would not recommend for a road trip!); however, the trunk space is small when the third row is up. I have been pleased with the technology and the general features the Palisade offers. Would recommend for families!

I love the Palisade, so much so this is the second one we have owned. In 2022, one month after purchasing a white Palisade, my son and I were in a multi car accident that totaled it. Everyone was fine, but it allowed us to really evaluate our purchase to make sure no buys remorse/ change to a different vehicle. Spoiler alert, we did not! I love the palisade for its comfort, easy driving experience and safety features. I love the heads up display (miss it in our other cars) and use the auto hold with every drive. My husband loves the smart cruise control when we go on long trips or really any time on a highway. I would definitely recommend a Palisade.

I love that this car feels luxury without being luxury. However, with the amount of recalls I have had on my car, compared to some of the cheaper finishes of the vehicle, it’s been slightly disappointing. My spouse is waiting for something catastrophic to happen to get rid of it (claims he will never own a Hyundai again); but I am not in a rush to move on. I love the bells and whistles, though a few quirks I wish were different (disabling auto singing shutoff will braking; more / better cupholders; etc), I know my next vehicle will likely be a full size SUV and my budget and garage are not ready for that yet. So, I will happily sit and drive my Palisade until I am financially ready for a full size SUV.

We love this car for two kids! We have the captain's chairs option. I would have preferred the bench but this has actually worked well for our family. We are done having kids, so it is big enough for two, but I think families with 3+ kids would outgrow it quickly. We take one big road trip a year (beach) and we can fit everything with the third row down and a car top. For car seats we have used a Nuna Pipa, Chicco KeyFit 360, and a Britax Poplar. The Chicco KeyFit 360 we can only use rear-facing on the passenger side because there isn't enough room if my husband is driving (he's 5'10", so average height). We've fit a single stroller in the trunk with the third row up, although it fits better with one seat down. We've fit a double stroller with one seat down too. I personally like the spacious under-trunk space for extra clothes, diapers, etc. The safety tech was the biggest sell for us and it has made driving a bigger car a lot easier. You do have to use a cord for Apple CarPlay which is a little annoying. Our car has been in two accidents (not my fault!) and the repairs have been well priced compared to other manufacturers. Overall, we would recommend this car and buy it again; however I do have one niche complaint: the second-row folding seat buttons are accessible/low in the trunk area. When my three-year-old climbs into her car seat, she escapes through the gap in the captain's chair and can reach these buttons easily if we have the third row down. Also, sometimes if the trunk is packed they get pressed. We have car seats in both second-row seats so it hasn't caused any major issues but sometimes I notice the seat is slightly forward, and this is definitely something I'll watch when we transition out of car seats. It's not a deal breaker but it has happened enough to mention and something to look out for in this car or any car!

We bought our ‘24 Palisade Limited new in Oct’23. Ours has a black exterior, white/navy interior, and second-row captain’s chairs. We have 2kids (2 & 3), both in full-size Evenflo Revolve360 car seats, one rear-facing and one forward-facing. My husband is 6’ and I’m 5’11”, so space is important to us. Overall, we’ve been very happy with it as a family SUV. The interior is incredibly spacious. Both front and 2nd rows have plenty of room, and the 2nd row seats slide to adjust legroom. Our rotating car seats fit easily without sacrificing front-seat space. Ceiling vents, heated/ventilated 1st & 2nd row seats, heated 3rd row seats, rear window shades, and tons of cup holders are great with kids. Storage is excellent, with a large center console, glove box, retractable cup holders, under-dash storage, and extra space beneath the trunk floor. The trunk is large, and I love the little hook that holds the lower trunk panel open while loading underneath. My favorite feature is the safety technology. The blind-spot camera pops up in the driver’s display when you signal, and the 360° parking camera is incredibly helpful. I also love the seat memory buttons, remote start, physical climate controls, heated steering wheel, phone-as-key capability, and our sporty black grille. I was nervous about the white interior with kids, but after almost 3yrs, it still looks great. The black carpeting helps hide. My biggest complaints: the exterior already looks somewhat dated due to the newer Palisade styling, and some versions have more chrome than I prefer. I wish bench seating were available on more trims. Rear visibility is limited with the third row up, and third-row access isn’t the easiest. I also wish Apple CarPlay were wireless. We’ve had occasional disconnects when hitting bumps even after trying multiple cords. The wireless charging pad is awkwardly placed, and remote start requires a paid subscription. Overall, the Palisade has been an excellent family SUV worth a test drive!

I adore my Palisade Calligraphy. I have two kids, (8 and 11) so we primarily just use the captains chairs, however I drive our neighbors 3 kids (11, 8 and 6) every other week, so I needed to be able to have one HBB, and two backless boosters. The middle row of the third seat is tiny, so I wouldn’t recommend that for longer drives and bigger kids, but it works for now until they are ready for the front seat. We love the heated and ventilated seats for driver, passenger, and 2nd row. The kids love the heated seats in the 3rd row. Blind spot cameras and heads up displays are awesome.

We bought our Palisade new in 2022 when we found out we were expecting our second baby. The car has been amazing and has met our needs perfectly. It is just the right size for a family of 4, and has enough 3rd row/trunk room to accommodate luggage for a road trip + a spacious(ish) seat in the back for mom when little ones are rear facing. I’m short and find the leg room in the third row is limited, especially when car seats are in the second row. We have had zero issues with this car. Sport mode is zippy, the car itself feels safe and stable (if that makes sense?), and it has all the features we wanted (rear occupant alert, heads up display, ventilated seats, etc.). Two things that bug me - the side mirrors don’t fold, and the key fobs can’t be programmed for a specific user. That’s odd for a premium SUV. Also, Apple CarPlay is wired only which isn’t a big deal for me, but might be for some. I do think if we had 3 kids, the Palisade might start to feel a little cramped, especially on trips. But we’re done at 2 kids and plan to keep our Pali for a long time!

The things I enjoy about the palisade the most are related to technology and safety. The blind spot cameras, heads up display, and overhead camera view are amazing. I subscribe to Bluelink for additional access to my car that I find helpful. I have had no issue with 2 car seats although utilizing the third row can be tricky/compact now.

I love this car for 2 kids (1 forward facing one in a booster). We have the bucket seats which works well for space and access. When we do have visitors the third row is large enough to cram adults back there. I will say the seatbelt buckles in the bucket seat at very depressed into the seat, making it extremely frustrating for my 7yo to buckle with her booster.

This was the car we needed all along! We purchased a different SUV when the Palisade craze hit in 2021 and we’ve been crushing on her since. We finally made the purchase this summer and the Palisade has checked all of our boxes! Our favorite features: sporty, trendy look, ceiling vents (!!!), captain chairs, oversized trunk, charging ports in the seats, and spacious for grown ups! My husband (6’4) and I (5’10) both feel extremely comfortable in this car in every seat. We just made an 11 hour roadtrip to Disney and we couldn’t have had a better car to make the trip in! The only reason this car isn’t a 5/5 for us is we wish wireless Apple Car Play was available in all trims and wish that the cord adapter was USB-C for the driver. Extremely small details that we easily can get over just two things we’d change if we could! Otherwise, HIGHLY recommend this card! You’ll be so happy!

Very nice car! I have 2 kids, ages 6 months and almost 3. We have the captains chairs. Im sure my kids will appreciate the air conditioned seats when they arent in car seatz anymore. I always travel with the 3rd row down . I have traveled short distances with 3 adults in the back seat. The middle back seat is very small! But the other two are fine.

We bought this brand new in 2021 and I’m so glad we did! I can’t speak to the other trim levels, but the interior of the Calligraphy trim really sold me. The interior is gorgeous. We particularly love the heated/cooling seats in the driver/passenger but also in the 2nd row seats, the second row comfort, the cup holder situation up front, the ceiling vents in 2nd and 3rd rows and how reliable this vehicle has been for our family. 5+ years of owning this and driving our family around and we’ve had zero issues. We don’t use the 3rd row often, so I can’t speak to that much, but on the occasion we need to put a booster back there or have family ride back there, it’s worked just fine for a short drive. My husband and I often comment to each other (even 5 years in) how much we love this car.

I absolutely love this car! We have the Palisade Calligraphy - so it has all the bells and whistles. I love the safety features (lane departure, blind spot, etc) and the convenience features like auto hold for drive thrus, auto start, etc. We travel to the beach alot so trunk space is great. We frequently have extra passengers besides the car seat. We have had 3 adults in the 3rd row comfortably. We are expecting baby #2, and are confident we will have plenty of space for 2 car seats and baby gear in the trunk again! We highly recommend this car for families from a reliability standpoint, safety standpoint, comfort, and the ability to fit everyone and everything we need!

I selected the Palisade after watching MANY Car Mom reviews, and in the 3 years of ownership, it hasn't disappointed. I have nearly 25k miles, and with routine maintenance, I haven't encountered any mechanical issues. There have been a handful of recalls, but I appreciate that Hyundai stays on top of their vehicle safety and remedies issues as they arrive.

The Palisade is truly a wonderful car. It’s comfortable, easy to adapt to, a very smooth drive, and awesome both day to day and on roadtrips. The pain points I have with it include cheap materials (both my grill and all 4 door handles need to be replaced for a second time due to paint peeling, also feels very “plastic”), very narrow second row seats for boosters (the seatbelt buckles are right up against their seats), and rigid buckles which make learning to buckle on their own incredibly difficult. Also a personal to me gripe - my 40 ounce Simple Modern doesn’t fit quite right in the cup holders and tips in every direction when I’m turning. 🫠 The app is amazing! It’s free access for life and I can not only remote start my car, I can also set the climate controls. This is a lifesaver in Southeast Texas summers! The seats get hot enough for my lower back pain and cool enough to calm my perimenopause hot flashes. I truly love my Palisade, *and* I wish it was built with more quality materials.
