This shouldn't be a shocker but the back seat in our Tacoma is tiny. I think when we were shopping for it, we knew it wasn't great but its so small. We have two kids, and was able to graduate the younger one from her booster because this back seat is so small. I am glad we have a pickup from time to time, but I think my husband regrets not thinking harder about a full size pickup because of the ridiculously bad second seat legroom. Other than that, its a fine vehicle. I don't love Toyota's technology interface. I find it annoying that you cannot split the giant screen in a more productive way and see Car Play and radio screen. And the volume knob broke within the first few months of buying as a new car.

Our 2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro Offroad is our daily driver with one rear-facing child. Ours has a bit of custom stuff on it, but everything inside is factory. I love this truck so much, but I’m looking forward to getting a mom car for our family. The second row is tight! We have a Cosco Scenera Next installed in the most upright position and I still had to scoot the passenger seat up to accommodate. It would work fine if you are on the shorter side, but I’m 5’9 and it’s not enough space for me to sit long distance. I have to sit sideways a bit. Our amenities include a wireless charger, heated seats, and a moonroof. No Apple CarPlay, but there are Bluetooth connectivity, SiriusXM, and radio. Only two USB ports and a cigarette lighter. We do have an outlet on the back of the truck. We chose to add a game box for extra storage, and that is where we keep our stroller and diapering kit. I think a tonneau or bed cap would work better if the Tacoma was your long-term solution. Seats a comfortable enough, and they are fabric on this trim level.

For a five passenger small truck I think overall was good. Not sure if I would use as a daily driver with car seats.

This truck is good if you have 1 child, that isn’t too tall. My husband uses this as his work truck. We are out of the car seat stage of our life so I’m not sure how those would work, but I do know, you couldn’t get a RF seat behind him if he is driving, he is 6’2”. This is our second Tacoma and we will probably continue to buy them as long as he needs a work truck.
