Features We Love
Car Mom Review

The Exterior

First Impressions: Sporty, Fun, and a Little Unexpected

The Sorento X-Line brings a really fun, sporty vibe to the table.

  • Blacked-out wheels and mirror caps
  • Bold exterior lines
  • Unique color options (this green is so good)

Kia really nailed the styling here—it feels fresh, modern, and definitely stands out in a parking lot.

And bonus: the Sorento is available as a hybrid, which is something I love to see. Kia has been ahead of the curve here compared to competitors who are still slow to add hybrids to family vehicles.

First Row

Interior: High-End Feel at a Mid-Range Price

Standout features:

  • Fully digital curved display
  • Two-tone steering wheel
  • Heated + ventilated seats
  • Wireless charging + multiple USB-C ports
  • Surround view + 3D camera

It truly feels more expensive than it is.

A couple quirks:

  • Climate controls share buttons with volume (a little clunky at first)
  • Panoramic sunroof controls are not super intuitive

But overall, this interior is a huge win.

The Reality Check: This Is a SMALL 3-Row SUV

Before we go any further, let’s set expectations clearly:

The Sorento is similar in size to:

  • Volkswagen Tiguan (with third row)
  • Toyota Highlander (not Grand Highlander)

That means:

  • Tight third row
  • Limited trunk space
  • Less room for car seats

And this is where families can get tripped up—it looks like a big SUV, but it doesn’t function like one.

‍

Second Row

Second Row: Functional, But Not Extra Spacious

The second row does a lot right:

  • Captain’s chairs (my recommendation over bench here)
  • Built-in sunshades
  • USB ports on seat backs (GENIUS placement)
  • Heated seats on higher trims

BUT:

  • No ceiling vents (tough for rear-facing kids)
  • Space gets tight with car seats installed

Third Row

Third Row: Better for Kids Than Adults

Here’s the deal—I actually like that there are only two seats in the third row.

Why?
Because they’re actually usable.

  • Decent width for booster seats
  • USB-C ports + cupholders
  • Enough space for kids

BUT:

  • Very limited legroom
  • No air vents (🚩 big issue in summer)
  • Narrow aisle access

This is a kid-only third row for daily use.

No items found.

Trunk

Trunk Space: The Biggest Limitation

With the third row up… it’s rough.

  • Think: umbrella stroller max
  • No real grocery haul space

If you need consistent trunk space and a third row up—this is not your car

‍

Safety

Safety: Strong, with a Caveat

The Sorento comes loaded with advanced safety tech (which Kia does incredibly well).

Ratings:

  • IIHS: Top Safety Pick+
  • NHTSA: 5 stars overall

‍

Car Seat Setup

Car Seat Setup: Surprisingly Strong (With One Big Catch)

Let’s talk car seats—because this is where things get interesting.

The Good:

  • Every seat (2nd + 3rd row) has lower anchors + tether anchors
  • That’s FOUR full sets—huge win for flexibility
  • Booster seats fit well in the third row

The Not-So-Good:

  • Rear-facing seats + tall drivers = tight squeeze
  • Limited front-to-back space for infant seats

The Kia Sorento is such a cool vibe on the exterior &fits our family of 4 perfectly. I love that we can pick up a couple of my kids friends and not feel squished! For vacation, we sometimes add a turtle roof rack to fit everything we need. This car handles well in snow, and has plenty of cupholders! My kids especially LOVE the huge sunroof. The only downside that I didn't realize when I test drove was that with Kia, the camera POV looking down on your car as you back up or park is a subscription service that is only included for one year. So I'll be sure to ask about what's actually included for life when shopping for my next vehicle. I do love the KIA app, the lock/unlock/start the car schedule you can set - it's all user friendly and accessible. I would buy this car again in a heartbeat.

I’ve had my Kia for five years and have really enjoyed it. I’ve never had any issues with it. I had the base LX model, and honestly, I loved all the basic features. The touchscreen is great, and you don’t need to plug in your phone, which is so convenient. I also really loved the keyless entry I could keep my keys somewhere in my purse and the car would still unlock when I approached it. The drive is amazing. I have two kids, and I had the car when they were in car seats and now with booster seats, and I never had an issue with space or comfort. For me, the third row was perfect because I only used it occasionally for extra pick-ups and drop-offs or when I needed extra trunk space. With two kids, the third row never bothered me. That said, I wouldn’t recommend it for someone with three kids who needs to regularly use the third row. The one thing I really disliked was that it doesn’t have a power liftgate, and there isn’t even a button inside the car to open the trunk. With kids, that was definitely annoying. Overall, it’s a really great car. The main reason I eventually decided to change was the fuel consumption. I wasn’t driving a lot, but it still felt like I was using quite a bit of gas, and that ultimately became the biggest downside for me.

We have loved our Kia Sorento PHEV! Overall we have found it to be incredibly reliable and have great gas mileage. It's comfortable to drive and ride in, has a decent amount of technology features, and handles quite smoothly, espeically in inclement weather. The PHEV has afforded us really great savings in gas and we have found the extra cost for the PHEV model to have been worth it in gas savings over 5 years of ownership. The cons: we did have some battery issues early on that were covered by warranty. The factory installed battery just did not tolerate the cold well, which was problematic in cold winter Canada. After a replacement, the issue has been corrected. We also find the front end safety sensors occasionally beep even when not near anything at the front of the vehicle, which is annoying but doesn't happen often enough to be overly bothersome. I wish the backup sound could be changed from the annoying stock "ding ding", and in reflection I regret the all black interior. It gets so hot and is impossible to keep clean from dust. The 3rd row isn't particularly useable for large people but does fit 2 FF car seats with room to spare, and the 50/50 split is helpful. Overall we have been very satisfied with the purchase and would purchase again!

I LOVE this car! It's serving our family well, yet I'm already getting sad as the years pass that eventually our time together will have to come to an end... This car is so fun to drive (I have the turbo!) and its a good looking car! My passengers are always complimenting the ride (adults - comfort & kids - love the panoramic sunroof!)... I love the controls, the dash setup, the easy to fold 2nd & 3rd row seats. The decent amount of room in the third row, and the trunk space when the 3rd row is folded down are huge pros for us, especially as our kid and family grow!

I've had my Kia Sorento for 4 years now and I LOVE it! I have the Plug-in hybrid which is perfect for my daily commute. I charge every night from my garage (from a regular plug). I drive my daughter to school, go to work and back home it's about 27 miles a day and I'm mainly all electric. I use gas for any trips that are longer so having the 2 motors has been great. I only have one child and have captain chairs which works well for us. Some of the features that I love are the Auto Hold (amazing for carline and sitting in traffic!) and I love the easy-to-use technology of the car. There are enough buttons that it's not all digital. I also love to see the camera on my dashboard when I put my turning signal on, so I don't have to turn my head and check if there's a car next to me. The one thing I don't like about the car is that there are no ceiling vents for the third row. I only have one child so it's fine but if I had to use the third row daily it would be annoying. I think this car is great for a family with 2 kids who want to save money on gas but still have a large car with a good size trunk for everyday use and/or road trips.

Love love love the kia sorento for 2 kids! Lots of room in my second row to fit their car seats (nuna rava) and the leather seats make it easy to clean! Third row is not accessible with carseats in 2nd row, hasn’t been an issue for us because I keep the third row down typically and have a huge trunk that way which i LOVE! Can fit my double stroller plus lots of extra room. 2nd row can’t fit three across so for three kids in carseats, not the most functional but for now, I really love it as a midsize SUV.

Love this car! I've gotten comments that it looks like a range rover in all black. The only two things I hate about it is the middle seat on the second row is useless when you have two car seats installed in the outboard seats because the seat belt overlaps with an outboard seat. And there is no car seat tilt so if you have car seats in the second row outboard seats you're accessing the third row via the trunk.

I owned this car for 2 years before finally giving in and getting a minivan. I absolutely loved the hybrid plug in model and found it to be very user friendly and straight forward. The biggest drawback for me was the cabin space. Second row was ok (but tablets take up space making it difficult to get in and out), but third row was extremely tight. If I only had two kids I would have driven it much longer, but with three kids I have to switch to the mini van for more space.

Works well for a family of 4 with an occasional 5th or 6th passenger. 3rd row would not be comfortable for everyday use, especially for an adult.

Here’s the thing: I do like this car, but I don’t love it. It’s had very minimal issues and pretty reliable, especially for someone who drives as much as I do. We’ve had to replace the transmission pan, apparently this car is notorious for them cracking, otherwise I’ve just done regular maintenance. This car does have a third row, which I personally never put up because I like having a huge trunk and have no need for the third row otherwise. As an adult it’s definitely not a comfortable ride in the third row, even for being on the shorter side. If you needed it for car seats, it would be difficult to buckle in any child who couldn’t do it themselves. I’d say this is a great car for 2 kids, maybe 3. But I’ve never attempted 3 across. If you’re a taller parent with taller children this may not be the car for you though. My 6’2 husband can’t comfortably ride in the passenger seat without crowding our 4 year old in the back seat. For me, a 5’3 girlie, it feels plenty spacious though. While it’s been very reliable, it has not held up well on the exterior. The black on the trim around the windows has started to wear off (and did so VERY quickly). Also, I purchased the car used and it had a very minor dent with a paint chip on the rear bumper. Over the last 4 years, the paint has peeled off on its own and is now the size of a medium sized pumpkin. Cosmetics are a huge deal to me, but still kinda annoying. Minor issues aside, she’s been a good introduction to a mid-size SUV and has served me well!

I truly love this car, it is the higher package so does have lots of fun stuff but at 5 years old I’m starting to run into some issues that, more than I had with my older cars. Maybe things aren’t made the way they used to? Overall ended up buying out of lease because I truly do enjoy it.

the seats are super comfortable, trunk space is great with only 2nd row, using the 3rd row there is minimal trunk room. I am a camper and when the second and third rows are down there is a ton of space. Great turning radius! The radio/temperature control knob is totally weird and annoying. The 3rd row does not have removeable headrests so there is only one booster seat that works, a Chicco Clear Tex.

I decided on the 2026 sorento hybrid after my 2022 Kia Telluride was totaled in an accident. Due to the safety I felt during the accident (my 4 year old was in the vehicle with me) I felt like I had to remain loyal to Kia. Switched to a sorento hybrid instead of the telluride as I needed a hybrid vehicle due to commuting 500miles a week for work. Love it so far! My boys ages 6 and 4 have plenty of room in the second row and the cup holders on the door are a great feature for them. The third row is significantly smaller than the telluride but we’ve decided that is okay with us. We will utilize a Thule extra storage on top of the vehicle if we were to need it. Overall loving the sorento hybrid so far, getting 36MPG average.

I only had this car for about 8 months before I was in an accident. It was a wonderful car. I loved the really light interior and how easy it was to drive and park (perfect size). I do not have kids at home but do have a grandson so keep a car seat in the second row. In my opinion, with captain seats, it is really only good for 2 kids and no more. I do want to share how safe I felt in the accident. I had a car hit me on the front passenger side (t-bone) while driving 30 mph. It was an immediate and unanticipated stop. I walked away without injury and was so impressed with all the airbags and the vehicle alerting 911 that I went back and bought another Kia!

I love this car! It is a little tight for 3 kids because we don’t have a bench seat in the second row. I am upgrading to a full size SUV due to the lack of trunk space behind the third row. My husband is keeping this car though. It’s so easy to park in the city and I love the full sunroof.

With two kids in the second row, it’s wonderful! Far too small with 3 kids though. It has captain chairs so when third row is utilized there is barely any trunk space. No ceiling vents so it gets toasty in the third row. Great car for families with two or less kids!

We use this as our primary family car and it is comfortable for two tall adults (6'4" and 5'9") with one car seat (child is now 4). Despite having three rows I don't think we will ever use this feature because our family is tall and car seats are so limited. One time we tried to fit two car seats and 3 adults and it was comical. The trunk space is nice with the third row down but also makes me nervous too put too much back there without it being properly restrained with the capitan chairs. Sometimes we travel with our dog which is great space for that. We have had multiple recalls and issues that have kept the car out of commission multiple days at the dealership. Luckily all under warranty but going back for the same electrical issues is frustrating. The car would not recognize what gear it was in properly and you would not even turn off one time because it was not registering that it was in park. Sometimes the electronic key fob will not work and I had to use the physical key at least three times to get in (with the alarm going off of course). The light in the trunk area stays on indefinitely. The second row window makes an awful grating sound. Haven't had time to fix these. The gas mileage is a big pro. The seats are comfortable. I did not like that you have to upgrade to the highest trim level to get the automatic tailgate and sunroof. My husband does complain about the acceleration, since the hybrid seems to make it be a bit slow especially when turning while going slightly uphill. This is less of an annoyance for me. In the really hot Atlanta summer the cabin air filters don't seem to keep up and there is a bad smell but usually dissipates in a few minutes. So, overall looks and drive and gas milage are good but enough cons I would not recommend the car.

My favorite family car to date! Car seats fit great, even with a tall driver & rear facing carseat combo. Technology is better than luxury brands I've owned. Stylish, safe, does it all - would've gotten 5 stars for 3rd row if there would have been ceiling vents back there. Oh yea, and the trunk space works for my stroller and groceries too.

The Kia Sorrento has been awesome for us as we transitioned our older kids out of car seats and we have up our minivan. It was a second vehicle for most of it's life and it handles carpool, weekend getaways and more just fine. We have AWD which has been great in ice, snow and mud (once we forded a small creek in a state park!). The tech inside has kept up with modern releases and we still feel like it's brand new! We feel really comfortable handing this car down to our teenager too.

This car was actually a downsize for me, which I was nervous about, but I'm very happy with it! I love that there are NO glossy black interior surfaces (I can't stand seeing all the finger prints!) The drive is smooth, and the steering wheel is super comfortable. The slight angle of the center console screen is convenient, and so are the door cupholders in the second row. There are knobs to adjust the temp or volume, but they're not separate buttons--you have to touch a touchscreen button to change from air control to volume control and vice versa--which can be annoying. My previous car had no buttons, everything was done on a touch screen and I found it annoying, but having to change the function of the knobs is a little annoying too. I can fit my golf clubs in the trunk vertically, which is the reason I went with this over the Kia Seltos. I like the look of the front end of the 2024 Sorento more than the newer models, and I think the Seltos is better looking too, but this gave me the space I need. I love that it's AWD with the option to change the drive modes, and I love that it has a real shifter. I have a 60/40 split bench (no captain's chairs in the second row is a hill I'll die on) that fold and slides forward/backward easily. I've had the car for less than a month so I'm still getting used to things, but I have no complaints and would recommend it to anyone in the market for a similar-sized vehicle.

This car is perfect with one child, and would probably handle two children extremely well. The third row is just there for pretendsies… maybe would be ok for carpooling with our daughters friends but there is absolutely no trunk space with the third row up! The second row is a car seat machine, we love it!

This is my husband's car, and I consider it a perfectly secondary car for many families. We have 2 kids (9 & 12) so carseats are not a factor. We take my car (Highlander Hybrid) for a longer trip, but the Sorento fits our family easily. The 3rd row is nice for the occasional carpool. With the 3rd row down my husband can easily fit his golf clubs- a must have for him :)

Overall I have loved this car! It has a luxury feel on a budget. I get great mileage with the hybrid. My biggest con with this car is the difficulty accessing the 3rd row if car seats are in the second. I’ve had to crawl through the trunk on occasion 😅 we rarely use it though so not a dealbreaker.

We love our hybrid sorento! We get over 30mpg. We bought it when we had one child and now we have two. I almost never use the third row and honestly wanted the third row only for the trunk space we get with it folded down. We do a lot of Midwest vacations where we drive about six hours and it can fit the stroller, pack and play, two adult bags, snacks, and everything else you can think of. There are some things I don’t love— my trim didn’t come with a bench seat, which in hindsight would have been nice. I also think it needs more cupholders in the front. It has adequate cupholders and USB ports in the back. There are no ceiling vents, which is a drawback, but the car cools down very fast so we never really have to worry about it. I don’t think you should purchase this car if you are wanting routine third row access, we’ve only used it a couple times for specific situations because the trunk space is negligible with it up. I love it for 1-2 kids! Would not recommend for more than that :)

Really loving this car! We have a 2020 CRV as well, and this feels like the perfect upgrade to a more spacious, upgraded SUV. We only have 2 kids, but wanted a midsize that would grow with us, and be there if we needed 3 rows in a pinch. When we bought the car, I also spent hours searching for financing options within our budget and it had a really great low-interest deal. I felt good about the pricing and that I wasn’t paying thousands in interest or with a long financing plan at the end of the day. My biggest concern here is longevity, but time will tell!

I have the hybrid version of this car. It has been great for our family. The cheapest 3 row hybrid on the market at the time by FAR with all the tech we wanted. I usually drive with the third row down, so the trunk is huge, which is great for my great dane and husky to ride in the back. I have even fit the dogs back there WITH my double bob stroller. I put a cargo net up behind the second row to protect from projectiles in the trunk. When we need it, we put up the third row for guests — we have them climb in through the trunk because the carseats are installed in the second row at all times. It's a bit annoying for the guests, but having only two seats in the back gives them more room, and we only ever go on short rides with people in the third row. I would probably not recommend putting adults back there for a long drive, but kids would do just fine, especially since there are USBs and cupholders back there for them too. The car has all the tech bells and whistles I could want while still having buttons in the infotainment area where I want them. I have only had two check engine light issues since owning the car, and they both were false alarms triggered by it being extremely hot outside and setting off a sensor that just had to be reset. Other than that, the car has had two recalls that were promptly fixed by the dealership, which were both very minor, and I was allowed to keep driving while waiting for my appointment. I have been very happy with this car so far, the 10 year/100k mile warranty is great, and I may get another Kia hybrid after I'm done with this one. I will be keeping it until just before the warranty is up.

Sorento is sporty and responsive on the road. It is stylish and has great technology. Front power seats are a plus but the A/C vent are little to be desired. The second row cup holders on the door are ineffective for kids. With my grands carseat behind the passenger seat, the seat has to be full forward for our 4 yr olds’ leg room. The cargo area is spacious with the third row down but the seating area is only good for kids. In the 2.75 years I have had it: there have been three engine repairs: each covered under the warranty. In the market for a larger SUV that is highway worthy, stylish, and plenty of leg room for growing grands!

I loved this car. I only had 1 child at the time, in a rear facing infant seat. The doors opened wide to make it easy to get the seat in and out. There was plenty of legroom in the 2nd row even with tall drivers. The 3rd row was very tight and I would not have been able to put car seats back there, but we did have adults ride back there a few times. 2 car seats would fit comfortably in this car. I think any more than 2 should look elsewhere. The trunk space was great with the 3rd row folded down but the trunk is almost non existent with the seats up. Overall, I would buy this car again if I only had 2 kids max. Third row was nice to have for once in a while occasions, but not something I would always rely on especially since strollers would not fit in trunk with third row up.

I love this car! Having the third row gives lots of extra space when it’s folded down but there isn’t a lot of space with it up. I have the captains chairs and they work great for our family, I can fit the car potty between the two seats which gives tons of privacy for those urgent situations. The captains chairs are on tracks so there is plenty of room for rear facing car seats behind the driver, I am only 5’ 8” but there’s still a lot of space between my seat and the rear facing car seat behind me. I don’t find it annoying that you have to press a button to switch between the climate control and music control. I have it set to always be climate and then for music I do the volume on the steering wheel and always have Apple CarPlay on so it doesn’t impact my experience at all. Overall 10/10 recommend.

This car has been great for our growing family up to two kids. We have had no space issues with our infant seat and our Britax car seats. We have the bench seat so mostly use with the third row down which gives lots of trunk space! We’ve used the third row a few times for family visiting and had a rear and forward facing car seat back there. Now with a third on the way, I don’t feel like it’s going to be a good fit since it will be hard to get my 4 year old in the third row everyday We will lose all our trunk space and there are no vents in the third row. So great for a max of two kids!

Versatile midsize SUV that is very stylish. A major perk for me was the second-row bucket seats—they make the interior feel sleek and spacious. It’s small enough to maneuver easily, but still feels roomy inside. It works well for two kids, and three would be fine if the older ones could easily climb into the third row. The price was on the higher end when I drove it. One downside is that the trunk space is minimal with the third row in use.

This is the car my mom drives and it’s a great grandparent car. It was easy to install our car seats in their captains chairs in the second row, but it was a little tight and the kids kept kicking the front seats. I got to ride around in the third row for a full day, and it was not as comfortable as I would expect and it was lacking amenities that I have in my 2022 vehicle.

We love this car! It’s perfect for 2 front facing kiddos. Both are in slimfit boosters. They have plenty of leg room to get around each other. We keep the 3rd row down for a larger trunk, but love the option to put the 3rd row back up when we need the extra seats! Apple CarPlay is a little hit or miss sometimes and HATE the toggle between the temp controls and radio button. Smooth drive and perfect size for parking. I came from a Jeep background meaning had only driven Jeeps from the time I could drive and have been very pleased with our Kia Sorento! Looking to get another one or upgrade to the Telluride next! Bigger kids means more stuff and think we may outgrow (barely) this Sorento! I would also recommend a Kia for a new driver! Over all great car, user friendly and easy ride!

We owned this car with the intention of driving it for many years. About 5 years into the life of the car we started encountering mechanical issues which we fixed. They continued to pop up. I would not recommend this car to someone who is looking to get more than 3 years out of it, or is buying high mileage used.

I love how sleek and sporty the Sorento is. It’s so cute! Have had truly zero problems with reliability- just typical maintenance! Biggest downfall for me is lack of backseat air vents. The 3rd row would be pretty tight for a taller/larger person, but I’ve sat back there and had plenty of room (I am 5’1”, so perfect for shorter people or putting kids back there). If we were planning to have more kids, I would definitely want to size up. We opted for captain’s chairs instead of the bench seat, and I wish we would’ve gotten the bench seat for more room.

I have the plug in hybrid Kia Sorrento and love the plug in option. I’m mainly driving under 20 miles a day so it’s so nice to cut back on high gas prices. It has the functionality of the telluride but the plug in hybrid option I love. The only thing I don’t love is no air vents in the ceiling. We live in Arizona and it gets hottttt. It would be nice for some added comfort in the 2nd and 3rd row.

We absolutely love our Kia Sorento X-Line! It has been a great vehicle for our family of four and is perfect for our two kiddos, while still having plenty of room when we have additional passengers. The Sorento is spacious, comfortable, and practical, making it especially great for family life and road trips. We’ve taken it on many trips as a family of four, and the extra space and comfortable ride make traveling much easier. There’s plenty of room for everyone and all the things that come along with traveling with kids. Looking back, I wish we had gotten the larger engine for a bit more pep and acceleration. Other than that, my husband and I love our choice. Overall, our 2022 Sorento X-Line has been a fantastic family vehicle. I would repurchase in a heartbeat.

Great car! Leased for 3 years with no problems. Perfect for when I had two kids with captains seats and third row down. But after having my third baby the car was way too small. With third row up there’s no trunk space!

This car is great for smaller families with the occasional passenger in the 3rd row. The trunk is small with the 3rd row up, but fine for the day to day driving. Very spacious in the front for driver (I’m 5’10”) and plenty of room in second row. Great clearance for forward and rear facing car seats.

This car has been a great “family starter” car! We purchased when we first found out we were having our first baby and so happy with how it’s been able to work all these years now with 2 kids and a dog. I love the technology and all the safety features it has. The car can feel tight when the whole family is riding. We have to have the 3rd row down just for our single/compact stroller to fit which is a downside since it has captains seats in the middle row. And the passenger seat needs to be all the way forward in order for the car seat behind to fit rear facing. I’m 5’4”, so my knees just grave the dash. My husband is 6’ and he’s very snug. Overall, it is a great mom car for our daily errands, but as a whole family car, it’s tight.

I have the SX prestige model and I love it. It has all the bells and whistles you could want at a great price point. The interior is roomy and comfortable, has heated and cooled seats as well as heated in the 2nd row and has a spacious third row. The technology is great in this vehicle. The only thing I dislike is the trunk space. With the third row down it’s perfect but with the third row up, the trunk is super tiny. Like 4 brown paper sacks with groceries across tiny. Almost impossible to bring anything. Otherwise, I love this vehicle and have no real complaints besides the trunk.

As a driver I like this car. I have to say, this is my 2nd new Sorento (previously had a '22 or '23) and STILL no power tailgate. Seems like on a new 2025 SUV that should be standard. The 2nd row seems decent. Haven't heard any complaints from my 13 year old. Although, a rear facing convertible seat doesn't allow the driver seat to be completely back (for driver leg space). Not an issue for me but an issue for my husband who's 6 feet tall and 300lbs. 3rd row is fine for kids, it's a little knees-to-chest for adults. The other thing that's a bit of a downfall is there are only USB-C chargers. Absolutely no USB which isn't ideal for my family.

I absolutely love this car and it’s perfect for moms of 2 in car seats. I’m obsessed with the exterior color/the 2020/2021 redesign of the Sorento. It has black interior leather seats, captain chairs, and a spacious third row. I’ve had this car for 5 years now and it’s been very reliable. We’ve driven this car all over the US, we’ve moved 4 times in the last 5 years with it with zero issues. We’ve just done standard maintenance on it and the only few “major” replacements that were done: all 4 tire replacement at year 4, brake pads replaced, new windshield (covered by insurance because of huge rock chip), and a door replaced (also covered by insurance because someone backed into us in the parking lot). Other than that, nothing major out of pocket expenses. The only reason we’re in the market for a minivan is because we have 3 kids in car seats now and there’s not much room for anything else when the third row is in use. It does not have the car seat tilt so it’s really challenging to get child buckled into the third row. We just need more space with 3 kids. It was the perfect car with 2 kids. If it had better trunk space or better access to the third row, I would drive this car forever!

I would love this car more if I only had 2 kids. We have the captain chairs in the second row which I don’t like but not sure I would be able to fit 2 car seats and a booster seat in the bench. My 9 year old is in a booster seat in the 3rd row which makes the trunk space very small. My husband is very tall and can’t comfortably sit in the passenger seat even with my 7 year old behind him. So we don’t take this car for long trips. On the positive side. I do like all the technology that Kia has. We have the hybrid and I do love having the hybrid option which is hard to find in the mid size category. Overall I would not purchase again and we will be looking to get something different in the next couple years.

Perfect for 3 kids if a small trunk doesn’t bother you. Captains make it very easy to get to third row which only has 2 good size seats. Lower anchors in both third row for boosters. Kids are now 4, 6, and 8. Have fit all combo of RF, FF, booster with ease! Bonus the hybrid saves so much on gas!

Overall, I’ve been very happy with our Kia Sorento. I love the look of it, and the technology is great without being overly complicated. Everything is easy to use, and it has a lot of helpful safety features, including the 360-degree surround-view camera, which I use all the time. The seats are also very comfortable. We have captain’s chairs in the second row, which have worked really well for our family of four. Our kids like having their own individual seats, and it makes the second row feel more spacious and comfortable. The biggest downside is cargo space. When the third row is up, there is very little trunk space left. The third row is also pretty tight and isn’t especially comfortable for taller or larger adults. I also wish there were a few more cupholders throughout the vehicle. Overall, I think the Sorento is a great midsize SUV for a family of four or for someone who likes having the option of a third row for carpools, friends, or occasional guests. If you regularly need to carry six or seven people plus luggage or other cargo, I’d probably look at something larger. But for our everyday needs, it has been a great fit.

We purchased the car when we found out we were expecting our third. The two captain chairs are great for larger car seats and our oldest sits by herself in the third row in a high back booster. My only gripe with the car is the lack of space. The trunk is very narrow and cannot fit much if both seats in the third row is up, so we always have one seat down for us to put groceries or the stroller etc. but we knew this when we purchased it so we make due with it. You can never have an adult sit in the third row comfortably as the seats are very low and your legs will be cramped. For tech, it has some cool features, like wireless charging (but I never use it as I find that it overheats my phone), and tons of USB-C charging portals. One of the biggest pain points is that you use one knob for controlling the heating and cooling AND the volume of the radio... you have to remember to hit a button to switch between modes, so that can be annoying as you're trying to drive. Overall, the car is nice - the exterior is beautiful and it drives well!

We purchased this car for our growing family - one kid at the time, pregnant with the second - when there were fewer affordable hybrid 3-row SUVs. It has been a great car with plenty of space for our now 3 kids for daily driving and day trips. A full tank of gas lasts about 500 miles, and we’ve never had any mechanical issues. The interior is comfortable and updated, though not super luxurious. The tech is easily to use as well. The only downside for our family right now is with 3 kids and the third row always up, our trunk space is very limited.

I love this car and it still makes me happy to drive it 3+ years after I bought it. I have 2 kids in car seats (infant seat and convertible seat). Both car seats in the second row, there is a an open seat between them but very tight space only good for petite people and would not be comfortable for long drives. I also keep my third row down 99% of the time and use it all as trunk space. I have had the 3rd row up a few times to drive extra people around and it's comfy enough but can be hard to access with my car seats in how they are. Overall love my car and hope to have it for many many years!

My mom drives the 2025 Kia Sorento Hybrid with the captains chairs in 2nd row and 2 seats in 3rd row. It’s such a great grandma car. She is able to fit all 3 of my kids in her car or she has a huge trunk if she keeps the 3rd row down. The second row seats are super comfy and have heated seats in the SX prestige trim. She has the dark green color that’s really nice. Can’t beat the gas mileage with the hybrid model and the tech is so nice, very similar to my Carnival which we love. We love driving her car when she is visiting and the kids think it’s the coolest grandma car ever.

I love this car. It was spacious, sport and stylish! The tech was top notch but easy to use and friendly using wireless apple car play. It was comfortable for me to drive as a short person and for my husband as well who is tall. I can not vouch for multiple car seats with using the 3 rd now as we only have 1 child but it was great for bringing friends, family etc.

This is my everyday "mom car". I have the EX-Hybrid model and have been really happy with the look, feel, and fuel efficiency (avg. 30mpg) of this car. I have two kids who fit very comfortably in the second row. Captains chairs were my only option, but I honestly can't imagine trying to get to the third row with a bench in the second. The biggest downside to this car is definitely the third row access/room for an adult. When I test-drove the car I made the mistake of not installing at least one of my car seats in the second row and seeing what it would be like to access the third row. I know The Car Mom has talked about this and I regret not taking her advice (will not be making that mistake again). We do not use the third row often, but when we do it is usually my parents or my in-laws that we are trying to bring along and I feel SO bad when they have to squeeze past a car seat and into the back. This is maybe once a month so it is not an everyday issue with the car, I just wish I had taken this into consideration before purchasing. The only "issue" I've had with the car itself is the infotainment screen is sometimes glitchy and unresponsive to my touch or just turns black, but usually corrects itself when I turn the car off and back on. Overall I have been very happy with my purchase and find it to be so comfortable with a smooth drive and lovely interior/exterior.

I have the Kia Sorento Plug in hybrid. I really love that the car has a 30 mile electric range that usually covers my basic errands around town. At night, we use the charger plugged into a regular outlet and it takes about 10-12 hrs to charge up fully. When plugged into a level 2 or commercial charger it takes more like 3-4 hrs to charge so if in a place where you have access to that it’s even better. I like that the third row is only two seats and we’ll plan to put my older son back there eventually but as for now the two 2nd row captains chairs are occupied and the third row is a bit hard to access for adults. I think it’s a good car for families with 1 or 2 kids and who like to have a car with some all electric range but can also be used as a hybrid.

We’re in the market for a PHEV SUV for our family. We test drove this vehicle and quickly felt that it was the one for us. The x-line prestige had everything we wanted, and more. Panoramic sunroof, heated and ventilated seats, good car seat clearance… the trunk could be a bit bigger but it was sufficient for us as we’re out of the stroller stage already :( We did not buy the car we test drove but are still looking for the same model/trim.

Love! I have two boys (8 and 5) and we have been so happy with our sorento. We live in a city and needed a car that wasn't too big (we parallel park everywhere) but had enough space to allow us to carpool. We have the bench and typically keep the third row down, but can easily put it up for carpooling. Have road-tripped all over and it has always been enough space for us!

I love the look and set up of this car for 1 kid (2 would be ok). It has a great exterior color and the mixed colors inside make it look pretty high end. It has all of the bells and whistles and a moon roof that make it feel super spacious. I have the captains chairs which also add an element of comfort and style. It's a plug-in hybrid with 32 miles EV so it's perfect for around town and potentially to and from work commutes. I like that it stays EV mode until the battery is depleted so there are periods of time where I don't use gas for days My only complaint would be that we've had some issues with the hybrid system transitioning out of EV and with air conditioning; both within the first two years. It is preowned, but still thought these things wouldn't pop up so fast. Thankfully it's under warranty. You do have to pick either 3rd row or trunk space but that works well for us. The third row leg space is tight but comfortable enough for adults to be back there for like a 30-60 minute ride. I'm holding out hope the issues are behind us would overall recommend it for a small family that wants luxury feel on a budget.

This is a fantastic car! With two children, we often drive with the third row down. It was purchased to maximize storage space and avoid continuing to rent larger cars for road trips. It fits everything for two small kids including a side-by-side double stroller, travel high chair, and two inflatable toddler beds! We also occasionally have 1-2 additional passengers, or have one of us ride third row to keep the kids entertained/awake. While the third row isn't the place most want to be, it easily holds adults or larger (Britax One4Life) car seats as needed. The captains chairs and 2 seat 3rd row make this a perfect 6 seat car with every seat having enough room to make it work (no American Girl doll middle seats!). Ours is the PHEV model, which is great for going around town and school drop offs on solely EV. On the road, the hybrid option gives us amazing mileage and we couldn't be happier! Importantly, we wanted a larger car but needed it to fit in our small garage. This model checked all of our boxes and is a good combo of enough technology without being overwhelming. I would recommend this car over and over for anyone that asks!

The gas mileage is good and second row legroom works well for us. There’s not enough usable cupholders in the front when my husband and I are both in the car. I use the second row cupholders in the door every day while loading the kids. There is essentially no cargo space with the third row up. I don’t feel comfortable with a passenger in the third row with how close their head is to the back glass. With the third row down, there is great cargo space; it fits my Wonderfold W2 with wheels on.
