I really loved this Escalade. It’s one of those SUVs that just feels easy to live with as a mom, and once you understand the car seat setup, it works really well. It’s not the most flexible in this category, but there’s still a lot here that makes everyday life with kids easier.
- LATCH on both captain’s chairs: two full sets of lower anchors in the second row, which makes installs straightforward and spaced out
- Tether anchors across five seats: both second row seats and all three third row seats have top tether anchors, which gives you flexibility for forward-facing
- No lower anchors in third row: you’ll be using seatbelt installs back there, so just something to plan for
- Wide second row spacing: the captain’s chairs give you a ton of room, which makes loading kids and buckling way easier
- Third row is actually usable: flat, wide seats make installs easier and it fits even wider boosters well
- Easy third row access without car seat tilt: no tilt feature, but the wide aisle between seats makes it manageable
- Exposed tether anchors in trunk: clearly labeled and easy to access, which I always appreciate for correct installs
The Exterior
Bold Refresh That Still Feels Like an Escalade
I already thought the Escalade was a beautiful SUV, and the refresh just makes it feel more modern without changing what people love about it. It still has that big, bold presence, just with cleaner and more updated details.
Front End Feels More Aggressive and Modern
The front is where you notice the biggest change. It looks sharper and a little more elevated.
- More aggressive grille: bigger presence and feels more sculpted
- Vertical LED lighting: brings it in line with Cadillac’s newer design language
- Illuminated details: subtle, but it stands out at night
Side Profile Is Big and Functional for Families
From the side, this is still a very large SUV, and you feel that right away—but it works in your favor.
- Available 24-inch wheels: they make the car feel even more elevated
- Power running boards: huge help for kids getting in and out
- Tall ride height: great visibility when you’re driving
Back End Keeps It Clean but Practical
The rear is a little more subtle, but it still feels very put together.
- Refined tail lights: still that signature Escalade look, just cleaner
- Hidden rear wiper: keeps everything looking sleek
- Wide liftgate: makes loading strollers and gear easier
Overall, it still looks like an Escalade, just more polished. It’s big, it’s bold, and it definitely stands out.
First Row
Feels Like a High-End Space You Actually Want to Sit In
This first row is one of my favorites. It just feels thoughtful, and everything makes sense when you sit down. The materials, the layout, the way everything is placed—it doesn’t feel overdone, but it still feels really elevated.
Big Screens That Still Feel Intuitive
There’s a lot of tech here, but it doesn’t feel overwhelming, which I appreciate.
- Digital display across the dash: everything is clearly laid out and easy to understand
- Separate climate screen: not my favorite feature, but it’s easy to find and use
- Passenger screen: adds functionality without feeling distracting
- Heads-up display + Super Cruise: everything you need is right in your line of sight
Visibility Is Strong Up Front, Limited in the Back
You sit high in this car, which I love, and you can see a lot around you.
The only downside is the rear visibility. The back window is smaller than you’d expect for a car this size, and once you add passengers or car seats, it gets even harder to see—but the camera rearview mirror completely fixes that.
Storage Is Practical and Easy to Use
There’s a good amount of storage up here, and it’s all usable.
- Two cupholders + extra storage: easy to access without reaching
- Wireless charger: right up front and easy to grab your phone
- Large center console: tons of space with charging inside
- Flat console top: great for quick snacks or setting things down
Comfort and Materials Feel Worth the Price
This is where the Escalade really stands out.
The seats are super comfortable, especially with the massaging, heated, and ventilated options. Everything you touch feels high-end, and it actually feels like you’re getting what you’re paying for.
Second Row
This second row is easy to work with, but it’s important to understand exactly how the car seat setup works here.
Lower Anchors on Both Captain’s Chairs + Tether Anchors Across All Rear Seats
- Lower anchors: one full set on each second row captain’s chair
- Top tether anchors: both second row seats + all three third row seats
- Third row limitation: no lower anchors, so all installs back there are seatbelt installs
This setup gives you flexibility for forward-facing seats, but it’s not as versatile as some competitors when it comes to lower anchors.
Wide Captain’s Chairs Make Installs Easier
The spacing here is one of the biggest advantages.
The captain’s chairs are separated, so you’re not trying to squeeze seats next to each other. It makes loading kids in, buckling, and adjusting straps much easier.
Rear-Facing Clearance Is Good, With One Trade-Off
You have solid space for rear-facing seats, but there are a couple things to think about.
- Front seat positioning: you may need to be mindful if you’re tall
- Rear entertainment screens: they take up space and can make tighter installs with bulkier seats
No Car Seat Tilt, But Wide Aisle Helps with Access
This is where the Escalade loses some points compared to others in this category.
There is no car seat tilt, and the fold-and-flip mechanism is a two-step process. That said, the aisle between the captain’s chairs is wide enough that you can still access the third row without moving seats in a lot of situations.
Third Row Access Works Best with Planning
If you’re regularly using the third row, there are a couple ways to make it easier.
- Walk-through aisle: easiest option, especially with older kids
- Removable or rotating seats: can help improve access if you have multiple car seats
- Slim seat choice: gives you more flexibility for getting through
Amenities Make It Comfortable for Kids
Beyond car seats, this row is a really nice place to sit.
You get heated seats, personal screens, charging ports, and cupholders, plus ceiling vents that keep airflow consistent for both rows.
Third Row
Three Seats with Tether Anchors in Every Position, No Lower Anchors
This third row is usable, but the setup matters. You have top tether anchors on all three seats, but no lower anchors, so every car seat install back here will use the seatbelt.
The seats themselves are flat and wide, which helps a lot with installs. Even wider boosters fit well, which isn’t always the case in this category. One thing to note—the middle seat has no headrest, so it’s not ideal for an unrestrained passenger and works best with a car seat.
Legroom is solid for kids but can feel tighter for adults if the second row is pushed all the way back. There’s also no car seat tilt, so access to this row relies on the wide aisle between the captain’s chairs.
Trunk
Standard Escalade Trunk Is Average for This Class
The trunk space here is solid, but not the biggest. You’re getting about 25.5 cubic feet behind the third row, which is right in line with Tahoe and Yukon—but noticeably less than extended models.
Works for Daily Gear, Not Bulk Hauling
This is a good setup for everyday use.
It’s wide and deep enough for groceries, sports bags, or a compact stroller, but if you’re in a double stroller phase or traveling with a lot, it fills up quickly.
Folding the Third Row Opens It Up
- Power-folding third row: quick and easy to use
- Flat load floor: makes loading larger items easier
- Big jump in space: once seats are down, it feels much more usable
ESV Is the Move If You Need More Space
If trunk space is a priority, this is the difference.
The Escalade ESV gives you 41.5 cubic feet behind the third row, which is a big step up and much closer to Suburban and Yukon XL.
Safety
The 2026 Cadillac Escalade is expected to earn a 5-star safety rating from NHTSA. It’s loaded with advanced safety features like forward collision braking, intersection assist, and alerts for cyclists alongside the vehicle. You also get standard Super Cruise, plus reverse automatic braking and rear pedestrian alerts to make everyday driving feel a lot safer.
One important safety detail to know in the Escalade is where the seatbelt pretensioners are located—and what else is working with them.
- Seatbelt pretensioners: on the driver and front passenger seats, designed to tighten instantly in a crash
- Super Cruise: standard hands-free driving on compatible highways
- Adaptive cruise control + automatic emergency braking: helps manage distance and prevent collisions
- HD surround vision: gives you a full 360 view, which matters in a car this size
- Pedestrian + reverse braking alerts: adds extra awareness in parking lots and busy areas

👉 Because of that missing head restraint, you should not place an unrestrained passenger in the middle third row seat.
