Love this car for our family. We’ve used it with 3 across, including 2 infant car seats. And now we’ve removed the middle seat moving our oldest into the 3rd row with a booster. Love the flexibility of a bench seat that can turn into a version of captain chairs. Even with the 3rd row up, we can still fit our double stroller in the trunk.

This Mid-Sized SUV does the job well for a family of 3, soon to be 4. Of course the pre-2025 models have the touch pad instead of the touch screen, but it’s not so bad once you get some experience with it. The onboard computer may freeze up or just not work correctly on rare occasions when you really need it. Update the software to improve the software issues. The MDX is great for everything a suburban family needs. From the commute to work, hauling gear on the weekends and long road trips. The removable second-row middle seat helps configure this to your needs. I have another child on the way, so will update my experience in the future. The real world gas mileage is less than I expected, but the J35 engine that has been in so many Honda/Acura vehicles is extremely reliable. In highly recommend the MDX for its reliability, maintenance costs compared to European competition, and decent driving experience. I hope you enjoy yours as well!

I would recommend this car to someone with one or two children. However, with three children, I’ve found that it feels pretty tight, especially as the kids have gotten older. One of the main reasons to consider this vehicle is the Honda-engine reliability. You’re also paying for the Acura brand, and I appreciate that the car can use either premium or regular gas. In the four years I’ve owned it, my main issue has been the battery. Based on my experience, I would recommend replacing the factory Acura battery fairly soon after purchasing the vehicle. As far as newer models go, I’ve had loaner vehicles while mine was being serviced, including a 2026 model, and I was surprised by how similar it felt to mine. I found it disappointing that the safety features and camera views didn’t seem to have improved much, especially considering the price range. My husband drives a Hyundai, and I’ve found that its safety features and camera views are significantly better than what the Acura offers. As a driver, though, the Acura is comfortable and enjoyable to drive. The overall driving experience is one of its strengths. That said, I would not recommend it for someone over about 5'10", and taller passengers may also find the interior less comfortable. Overall, I think this is a good option for a smaller family, particularly someone with one or two children, but with three kids, the limited space becomes much more noticeable.

It's a pretty car from the outside, but in no way is it a full-size SUV. The second row has NO legroom. My legs were cramped just riding to the grocery store! And the 3rd row....forget about it! I wouldn't put anyone over 11 years old back there. And if the 3rd row is up, you will have no trunk space. Also, this car is known to stop (at a stop sign) and not start up again. Wait until that happens to you while you're on the highway in stop and go traffic........you'll be afraid for your life! But the mechanics can never replicate it, and it becomes a he said, she said situation at the dealer, and I've known at least 3 people this has happened to.

I really wanted to love the Acura MDX because, size-wise, it checks a lot of boxes for me. It’s roomy inside, comfortable for passengers, and has really good trunk space without feeling like an enormous SUV. Unfortunately, the technology is what really brings it down for me. My biggest complaint by far is the touchpad used to control the infotainment system. It is SO annoying. For a vehicle at this price point, I really wish Acura had just given it a touchscreen. The touchpad makes simple things feel much more complicated than they need to be. I’m also not a fan of the automatic start/stop feature that shuts the car off at stoplights. I know you can turn it off, but you have to do it every time you drive, and there are times when the car starts back up and honestly sounds like it’s struggling a little. The wireless phone charger is another miss for me. Mine is basically worthless, and it takes up valuable console space that I would much rather be able to use for storage. There are definitely things I like about the MDX. I love the overall size, the interior feels spacious, and the cargo area works really well for our family. But the features I interact with every single day are frustrating enough that I would not purchase another one. Overall: great size and space, but the infotainment system alone would keep me from buying it again.

I was really impressed with the MDX. Probably the most comfortable midsize SUV I've driven from a front-passenger perspective. Sporty - handles well, and packs a punch. We didn't choose the MDX because there was no way our dog would fit in the rear - not a lot of headroom in the back. Not the best gas mileage, either.

I love this car. It drives so nicely. It’s comfortable. Easy to get in and out of. The tan leather seats with the black dash is so pretty. I get a lot of compliments on it. The back seat is roomy and comfortable. The third row fits an adult. It’s a little tight but very manageable. Gas mileage is around 23 miles to gallon. It came with weather tech floor mats which are great. Y previous car was a Honda pilot, it definitely has less room and less storage than the pilot, but still plenty. The stereo in this car is amazing!

Super reliable. Stylish. Comfortable to drive and ride. Quiet inside. Love the sunshades in the back. Love the plastic liners on the floors- helps with baseball and soccer dirt. Leather seats with shade in the middle are super helpful on hot days. Touch pad was not a live at first but now that my screen is always clean, I love the touch pad. A/C can be a tad underwhelming. So can pickup but the sport mode rocks (and sounds great).

I love this car. It fits my family perfectly, drives like a sports car, looks chic, and has been very reliable. I’ve had to get the battery replaced covered by pre owned warranty. My biggest gripe is the lack of touch screen (track pad…what the heck) and for tall drivers like my husband and me the second row doors can be tight when loading and unloading into a car seat.

Purchased in 2020 new. Never have had an issue with it. It's my husbands main drive. He loves it still. Tech is a touch outdated but nothing shocking. It drives really nice still. I will say that I question the leg room in the second row with the kids in forward facing car seats/high back boosters. We have never used the third row but the trunk space with it down and the second row bench is really nice.

Super reliable with only standard maintenance! Spacious second row that's thrived from car seat to booster. 2nd row bench converts to captains chairs for great 3rd row access for kids. 3rd row for adults is ok - it works but wouldn't want to be back there for a long trip. Trunk space is amazing with 3rd row down and still pretty good with 3rd row up. Only issues are center console storage, missing ceiling vents and any vents at all in 3rd row from my perspective. The one thing I wish Acura would remove is the wireless charger - there's so much more that could be done with this space. Car has taken every accident we've been in like a champ and I won't own another make/model after loving this the two I've had.

I LOVE this car. I had 3 days to buy a car when my 19-year old Lexus finally died. Luckily I had already done a lot of research and knew I wanted to test drive this. I was obsessive with the IIHS second-row safety ratings, and this was one of the best. My favorite feature is the removable middle seat in the second row. I have had a couple minor glitches with CarPlay but they could honestly have been issues with my old phone, since restarting my phone seemed to fix it, however the wireless charging is VERY particular and doesn’t always work unless the phone is in exactly the right spot. I have plenty of trunk space for dog food + a Costco haul with the third row up. I have the Advance Package which I love due to the multiple camera views, which I probably use every day and has saved my wheels from the curb more than once. Second row has built-in sunshades and its own A/C control, but no ceiling-mounted vents. I love the overall design of the interior from the drivers view, and my only complaint would be that the shiny black surfaces show dust and fingerprints. We took this car to OH right after purchasing and it handled beautifully through snowy WV. The only thing I may change would be slightly more room in the door cup holders for wipes, Kleenex, etc. Overall, I highly recommend this car.

Driven 85k miles in 4 years with almost zero issues. I appreciate it's minimal road noise and smooth driving when I get back into my car after driving our work vehicle. The second row has worked okay for carseats but I rarely access the third row. I love that Acura includes so many features on their base models that would normally be included only in upper trim packages of other brands. The only feature I don't love is the wireless phone charger which has never worked and recently starting peeling up due to Missouri's extreme heatwave.

Decent car. Handles well and drives smooth. Did not like the CarPlay as I constantly had issues with the sound cutting out and it was temperamental with my iPhone. Biggest issue was it is too small for a growing family. Not good for over 2 kids when the third row needs to be accessed all the time. No AC in third row, and tight second row for teens. We also had a car seat in the second row and it was very tight. Good car if you have 2 kids max and aren’t carpooling teenagers to sports daily like I am. We traded in for a full sized suv at the end of our 3 year lease.

I owned this car for about 7 years and drove it all over the state for my job. It was incredibly comfortable. Once I had 2 kids in car seats we ended up trying a mini van because the MDX got tight with rear facing car seats. In hindsight i regretted the decision. I had zero problems or issues with the MDX. I think it'd be great for families with older kids out of car seats. It was very relaible

I Absolutely LOVE the MDX for kids. We fit 3 Britax Poplar's across for all 3 kids. We will eventually remove our center seat and make captain seats with my oldest in the back. I can fit a full size dog kennel in the pack for trips with our lab. We can easily pack for a weekend away, fit our dog kennel and 3 kids in car seats. Acura brings practical Luxury. this is the 4th MDX we've owned and I absolutely love it and recommend it to any mom!

Drives amazing and looks very nice inside and out. It has great trunk space with the third row up or down. Middle seat in the second row is removable which is nice for easier access to the third row. Not a ton of room in the second row with a car seat. When my husband drives we have to have the car seat on the other side. Also not a fan of the control pad in the center to adjust the radio etc. it’s hard to use and the buttons stick often. Gas mileage really isn’t that great for the size of the vehicle in my opinion. I average around 19mpg. Overall it’s been a great, reliable vehicle but personally wouldn’t recommend if you have kids in car seats.

This is my 2nd MDX, I like the car for the features it has but have had multiple issues with it since it was brand new. Also not very spacious for 2 young kids! Acuras are not reliable like they were in the past!!

I have loved owning my MDX. There are something I wish were different! If this car had captain seats I would keep it forever. My children LOVE the DVD player for our longer trips, the seats are so comfortable, and it does drive smooth for the amount of miles we’ve put on it. We do have to do frequent drain and flushes on the transmission when the car starts to jump RPM’s. When it first started happening it was alarming but we were assured that it can happen with Pilots and MDX’s. I truly do love it just wish it was more spacious for my family.

We’ve had our MDX for about two years. We’ve had several problems with the vehicle shutting off while stopped and recently started while going through intersections. It began with just the navigation screen turning off, then when stopped, then going through intersections. We have taken it back to the dealership each time. It’s currently been there this last time for a little over a month. It’s pretty, but does not offer the space and features we need. I hate that there are not above seat AC our poor little stay too hot in this Texas heat. We previously had a Chevy Traverse and it was the perfect size. Our youngest son ,5, uses a wheelchair and it takes up any space in the trunk space.

2020 Acura MDX, AWD seats 7 Safety: strong crash test performance! 5 star NHTSA. Reliable car. Pros: Comfortable, quiet ride Excellent value as a used luxury SUV Attractive exterior & interior Fits young family of 4 well Incredible trunk space with 3rd row folded Easy to install car seats Cons third row space is too small for larger kids, not comfortable for adults. Safety & infotainment lacking compared to what’s available in newer models

Love my MDX. Still looks stylish afte’s 6 years and dare I say, brand new. My MDX has taken many road trips to lacrosse and hockey tournaments and it never felt tight or uncomfortable with 5 of us. I would recommend Acura to everyone. Will definitely be on the top of my list when I look for my next car!

Third row not super functional, but is there in the event it is needed. Significantly lowers trunk space though. Nice feature is being able to remove the middle seat from the second row if captain’s chairs are desired, but unlike the Honda Pilot this piece cannot be stowed in the trunk. Love the shades in the second row to block out the sun. Interior and exterior styling are sleek and sporty and definitely feels like a cool car, was a fun upgrade! Husband loves driving it as well.

Great vehicle for our family of 4 with 2 in car seats. If I were to have another child would probably look for something different! I usually leave the 3rd row down for extra trunk space. Easily fits my double Bob stroller or Uppa Baby Vista stroller with additional room in the truck. It has basic tech but meets my needs! Comes with Apple Car Play, heated seats, and 2nd row has air controls.

This is our second MDX, and probably not our last. It’s a GREAT car. It is large enough to have the space I need without feeling like I’m driving a bus. It drives smoothly. Maintenance needed was like our previous MDX—just brakes, wipers, and routine maintenance. My oldest son learned to drive in this car and said he felt comfortable and safe (and cool 😎). Takes premium fuel, but gets great gas mileage. My only complaint is the lack of touch screen for certain things.

I have had a 2016 Acura MDX for about 8 years and I cannot say enough good things about it. The black interior is classy and comfortable and impressive when you get in. The second row fits 3 across (I have 3 Clek foonfs, 1 rear facing and 2 forward facing) and they fit comfortably with space between. I also love how it drives. It is powerful and quick and doesn’t feel huge. My favorite thing about this car is the reliability. I have not had one issue since owning it and I love having that confidence in my car. Before this I owned an Acura RDX (the smaller 2 row version of this car) and an SUV flipped into my driver side door while I was stopped waiting to exit a shopping center onto the access road. My car was totaled but I didn’t have a scratch on me. I now live Acuras because of how safe it kept me. I have 3 kids and need to upgrade to a larger vehicle as they get older. I wish Acura made a larger SUV because I would be sold! The only downside to this car is the third row is pretty small (only does 2) but we keep it down for the trunk space and rarely use it. Overall I love my MDX!!

I think the MDX is a great family car, it has pros and cons like any vehicle! Pro wise, it's a Honda engine, which makes it reliable, they run for a long time, and they hold their value. The model we have of the MDX is comfortable and beautiful inside, the trunk space is great if the third row is down and it has a very useful trunk "cubby" that gives a little extra storage. For cons, this is my primary car (mom), when my son was in a rear-facing car seat he sat in the 2nd row, passenger side. While it is a spacious 2nd row, the larger rear-facing model we had didn't leave much leg room for my 6'1" husband in the passenger seat. Another con, if you need the 3rd row seating, there's just about nothing of this 3rd row that our family would personally recommend - even our golden retriever gets claustrophobic back there. As a soon-to-be family of four who travels quite a bit in this vehicle, I'm concerned we'll have to look for a new car sooner than planned simply because the 2nd row (in our model) are captains seats, and there is no where for the dog to be comfortable (crate doesn't fit in the trunk even with the 3rd row down). So all this to say, I love this car, I think it's beautiful, it's a fun drive, it's a nice sized SUV, but it has it's space challenges on the interior.

It’s is an amazing car. The amount of room in the second row is very good. Just wish the middle was removable like the newer models. Wish the car also had ac vents in the ceiling in the back. Mpg is great but premium gas is an expense you need to take into account. I love the amount a space it provides especially the trunk when you don’t need to use third row. My concern with buying it again is when I add more kids will it be as roomy or will I have our grown it.

My Acura MDX technology package is a great car for our family of 4. It's usually just 3 of us driving however we have occasional car pool. My kids are is booster seats and there is plenty of second row leg room. The second row is on tracks which is great if we need more space in the second or third row. The middle seat is removable which is amazing for third row access if we need it! Otherwise when we have the seat in we use it for cupholders and snacks. Three across did not work for us with boosters and a car seat, However there are lower anchors in all three seats and tether actors in the two seats in third row. Third row is perfect for littles but not much space for adults. No ceiling vents and no vents at all in third row.

We love our Acura MDX overall. It’s been a great car for us and our two kids. However, now looking at potentially adding another child to the crew, we would probably want a bigger option. The trunk is great when you have the third row down, but when that third row is up it’s tiny. But it drives well, and is a great car. We could make it work for three, but would prefer to just get something bigger.

The Acura MDX is a great mid sized SUV. It’s sporty and beautiful. It’s not as roomy on the interior as other midsize SUV’s but it does fit my family of 5 comfortably. No one is in a car seat any longer but if so, it would be tight. The trunk space is sufficient even with the 3rd row up. It’s dependable and I’ve been very happy with the MDX as a Mom that is on the go always with three kids in sports!

I have two boys, 8 and 5. I love the second row with the removable center that converts it to captains chairs. It’s easier to access the third row. I don’t love the off center anchors in the second row if you have to install a third car seat. The space in the middle is small with regular size convertible carseats and high back booster. This car is better for bigger kids. Trunk space is great with the third row up. There are no anchors or vents in the third row. The car is beautiful and reliable. I love the panoramic sunroof. Technology is outdated, no touch screen. The track pad is awful.

Wanted a car that would give me the flexibility for 3 across OR to put one of my 3 in the third row. I am able to do that and keep the gas mileage and size in a good spot. It fits 3 across comfortably and when the third row is down it has plenty of trunk space. Has all the technologies of a new car but I will say with a double screen it does look a bit dated. I don't love that it doesn't have ceiling vents. And I wish the door cup holders were larger. I am only 5'2 and would say with RF carseat it was just enough room to not touch, so for my taller friends I would consider this before buying. Third row is ok with leg room for its class. With a higher profile car seat my 4 year old said his feet were squished. I was pleasantly surprised with the tether anchor situation and the non overlap of anchor to seat belt. Overall, I have loved this car for this stage of life.

As a second row passenger, leg room was tight when sitting behind a 6’ driver. No ceiling vents in the second or third row made it very hard to cool off when getting in the hot car. The third row should only be used for small children. Even my 8 year old was uncomfortable. Pretty car but should only be a 2 row vehicle, in my opinion.

I have driven the Acura MDX for 6 years. We have twins so I needed a car with a lot of space in the second row. I fit comfortably between all the different car seats we have had a long the way. There is also great trunk space when the third row is down. It has been a great car for a family of four and a big dog. Good gas mileage and reliable!

I’ve owned my 2022 Acura MDX since my oldest was 12 and my youngest was 8, and it has been a great SUV for our family during those years. When I first purchased it, the size was perfect. My kids were old enough that we didn’t need car seats anymore, so we had plenty of room without driving a huge SUV. It was comfortable for everyday driving, school, activities, and family trips, and I loved that it didn’t feel oversized. As a daily driver, I honestly think the MDX is one of the best SUVs. I’m 5’1”, so I personally don’t need or want a huge SUV, and the MDX is very comfortable for someone my size. It’s easy to drive, easy to park, and feels like a great balance between having SUV space without feeling like you’re driving something enormous. Now my kids are 16 and 12, and I’ve definitely noticed the difference as they’ve grown. My 16-year-old is much bigger now, and when he does ride with me, the second row feels noticeably smaller. He doesn’t ride with me as often anymore, but when all four of us take a trip together, the MDX can feel a little tight—especially once we have luggage and everything else that comes with traveling. For my family, I think the MDX is an excellent choice for a family with one or two kids who are out of car seats but aren’t yet big teenagers. I personally wouldn’t recommend it for a family with multiple car seats because I think the second row would feel cramped, and I also wouldn’t choose it if you’re looking for a vehicle that will comfortably accommodate larger teenagers for years to come. Overall, I have really enjoyed my MDX. It was almost the perfect size for our family when my kids were younger, and I still absolutely love it as my everyday vehicle. I just wish there were a little more room in the second row now that my kids are getting bigger!

For our family of 4, this has been a great car! We have two young kids in car seats and have had ample room. For reference we have used the Nuna Pipa, Nuna Rava, and Nuna Aace. The car handles extremely well and we have always felt very safe (our primary concern when buying a car). I am not the biggest fan of the track pad, although I will say you get used to it and it’s nice to not have finger marks on your screen. I’ve found the tech can sometimes be glitchy though. The third row is tight and really should just be for young kids. The removable middle seat is really nice and gives flexibility based on your needs. For a family with 2 kids, it is a perfect car with generous trunk space (with and without the third row up!).

This car worked very well for our family when we had two kids. The second row bench fits two car seats comfortably but the middle seat would be very tight for a passenger. We would keep the third row (only two seats) down to increase our trunk space. Now that our family has grown, we are only able to fit all of us in it when absolutely necessary. The third row is only 2 seats and is very cramped even for our 8 and 11 year olds. Additionally, the third row has non removable headrests which makes the car seat situation incredibly challenging.

This car isn’t flashy, but it is the best for our day to day. I keep the third row down at all times and have so much space in the second row and trunk. Our family took a 10 day, 2500 mile road trip in it this summer and it was the perfect size for us. Couldn’t imagine driving anything bigger. We love this car and plan to drive it for many more years.

I ride in this car with my mom and my two kids pretty frequently. My car seats are easy to install, but rear facing convertible car seats can be tight. The touchpad instead of a screen drives me mad! It's a very comfortable car though and a great car for a grandma! If there were rear ceiling vents that would also help. Trunk space is amazing! And the fold down cup holder in the middle seat is great too.

I really love my MDX as a mom of two children in car seats. I do think if we ever have another, we would need to get a more spacious vehicle as the third row is very tight even for a child in a FF car seat, however the second row is very spacious with plenty of leg room. With the third row down, the trunk provides plenty of space. The trunk does have a lift up area for additional storage which I enjoy using for all my emergency supplies. My MDX has been extremely reliable for the past 5 years. I enjoy the comfort, driving experience and tech. My 2018 model has Apple carplay which is a game changer too. The center console is spacious and the infotainment system is user friendly. I have two cup holders in the front, door cup holders in the second row and there are cup holders in the third row as well. No ceiling vents, but the second row gets decent airflow. I would definitely recommend this to somebody with one or two children- I just would plan on rarely using the third row!

I absolutely Love my MDX and would highly consider even renewing my lease. I have 3 kids in car seats and we fit great! I can fit all three in the middle row and have done that for over a year. most recently, we decided to take out the middle seat and my oldest can sit in the back, with so much room in the aisle to climb in. The trunk is a bit small but we’ve been able to make it work with camping etc. so not that big of a deal. overall would totally recommend!

I do love this car. I don’t have the right car seat for the car. When my son was little I would sometimes lightly hit his head on the door frame getting him in and out of the car seat because the headspace isn’t huge. I would prefer a bigger ceiling space. But it’s comfy and drives well and has served us well.

I recently test drove a used 2023 MDX (no option on this site to review a 2023 so I listed it under 2024) and was shocked with how poorly the drive performance was. Acceleration was sluggish it also felt like I was driving a boat. I was so disappointed because I thought this was going to be the one! I disliked the way it drove so much that I ended the test drive early. Don’t get me started on the screen… it’s not touch screen so you have to use the track pad to get where you want to go. With the drive performance, the infotainment system and lack of ceiling vents, I did not end up I’m purchasing this car.

We love our MDX! We chose it over the Honda Pilot because of the way that it drove. It drives like a luxury car but I love that all of the tech is simpler and easy to navigate. We have a Grace slimfit 3 LX (FF) and a britax poplar (RF) in the second row and it is perfect. We plan to do three across if we have another child. The curved edges of the seat can sometimes make install trickier but it is great overall. I think it would be difficult to have a car seat in the third row and still be able to have enough room front to back for the second and third row, plus I also loving having the third row down for extra trunk space! It would be difficult for four car seats but we plan to keep for three.

It is a great suv for some families, the roominess is great and the party trick of having a bench and captains chairs is cool but it was overall a pretty boring drive. Not super exciting to drive and the tech felt dated. You get Honda reliability so overall it’s probably a great SUV for some, we just didn’t enjoy driving it.
