2025 Subaru Outback

This car is great for 1 kid or no car seats. I am 5'8 hubs 5'11 and have an graco extend2fit and natillus2.0 no one fits in the middle seat with both seats and room is tight. We travel ALOT (minimum of 30 mins one way up to 8+hrs) and play golf during season in New york so clubs stay in the car april-oct and i always have to have have my wagon or stroller i have an asd child who needs one or the other depending on the day. The reliability on this car is great, and Subaru is awesome until you have an electric issue and have to take it to your dealership(ours wants 200 and hr to diagnose an issue so we deal with the issue until trade in) For the last year my husband and I have shared a car and for longer than that our trunk will not open by a press of the button anymore we have to hold it down and then when it shuts it will beep like it's not shut then when we drive it it literally beeps at us for minimum mile, any time after we get off the break. So if you plan on buying this car, make sure you get the extended warranty. Honestly, that's the only issue i've had and now we are outgrowing it. My local mechanic tried to fix it, it worked for 2 drives and then stopped. My husband drives about 500 miles a week for work round trip and he has no real complaints besides the technology is to much for him. Any other mechanical issue i have had subaru had covered by a recall or warranty because it was a failure on their part and they knew it.

This has been an excellent vehicle. The only thing we have not loved is the giant touch screen that controls everything. We would rather have some knobs and buttons back!

Camping? Sold. Road trips? Sold. Kids, luggage, groceries, sports equipment, work stuff, and an unreasonable amount of random junk? The Subaru Outback can handle it all. I absolutely love my Outback. Put the back seats down and suddenly you basically own a pickup truck—just with better gas mileage and somewhere to put your purse. This car has hauled our family to Kansas City multiple times, taken us to the beach, and survived countless family road trips. The back seat has tons of room, the cargo space is amazing, and I love the sunroof. The huge screen and Apple CarPlay are also a must for me because I need my map VERY visible while I’m confidently missing my exit. Most importantly, I feel safe in it. It’s comfortable, practical, reliable, and apparently prepared for whatever phase of life I decide to throw at it next. My only regret? I didn’t get leather seats. Rookie mistake. But that has absolutely nothing to do with how great the car actually is. Basically, camping, road trips, family life, hauling half your house around—the Subaru can handle anything in your life. I plan on driving mine forever.

This is my second Outback and I love the car for the very comfortable front seats and second row space. It has great tech for 2024 including large screen, great back up camera, automatic lift gate, sun roof, leather, heated front and second row seats, heated staring wheel and wireless Apple car play all under 36k. The only draw back is that it’s slow to accelerate which drives my husband crazy. The interior styling and seat comfort are top of class which sold me over the drive. Surprisingly a lot less plastic than Toyota and Honda equivalents in that price point and you can’t beat the trunk space in the wagon. We fit a full size stroller and groceries no problem. I also don’t stress about crumbs, dog hair, target scratches or the kids ruining it like I would in a luxury suv. Being 5ft, having a lower height vehicle won out when putting kids in car seats, loading the trunk, cleaning ect and the wagon gave us the same space a midsize 2 row SUV would. Reliability has been great and we have had no issues with only routine maintenance. I LOVE this car as our practical daily driver.

I own a 2024 Subaru Outback. My car seat setup is two car seats on the outside seats and a booster seat in the middle for my 7 year old. Overall, all car seats fit nicely on the wide bench 3 across. The trunk space is what makes this car shine with enough room for a wagon or double stroller in the back. I never run out of room for what my family needs in this car.

This is my second Subaru Outback. This is a very comfortable car to drive for myself and my husband who is 8" taller than I am. Even with the driver seat back all the way the individual in the second row has a good amount of room. Two car seats fit in the second row with ease (both forward and rear facing). We travel frequently with the car and the trunk has ample room for all of our luggage. We have also used a car rack on the vehicle with ease. We live in the northeast and my Outback handles the snow and ice very well. My husband prefers to take it over his truck when the weather is dicey. My one complaint about the 2020 model is that all the controls are on a screen (no buttons) and the tech can be slow at times. I am very happy to see that in newer models they are putting buttons back in. Can't recommend a Subaru enough. I will be buying a third when the time comes.

I love my car and plan to drive it until the wheels fall off! That being said it’s because it’s a Subaru and I’m unfortunately a part of the “Subie Sister” cult. This car works for us but as our family will grow (probably 1-2 kids from now) my husband plans on trading in his sedan for a minivan or large suv/van. I love the tech for the year that it is—adaptive cruise control, heated seats, all of that—but sometimes the tech is so glitchy that we have had legitimate setbacks. Two big issues actually have class action lawsuits against Subaru and it affects my year and model but also a few others. The delaminating of the screen and it going into ghost mode (pushing buttons for you and going crazy). It was $10K fix but Subaru covered it as it was a known issue—still was on the waitlist for two months since there were many affected. Second is the parasitic draw. There was a two year period that I changed my battery three times. There can be an issue where even with the car off it drained the battery and I can’t tell you how rough it was to have to jumpstart my car just because I went into a grocery store! That’s not an issue anymore either. Another con is trunk size. I carry a lot in my trunk and as it’s a two-row midsize SUV I don’t expect a ton of room but the issue is that the “mouth” of the trunk is rounded, so there are times where an item like a box would fit because of the space but it doesn’t because of the curve/shape. I also wish the back row was more spacious—not great for long legs! Outside of that I do like the drive of the car. We go on A LOT of road trips (I’m talking about 10-20K miles a year) and camping trips and things like that and our car has served us so well. I feel very safe and have never had any issues there. I’m sure at this year you can find them reasonable priced, and it comes with a great community. Haven’t had any issues with car seats and I love how easily accessible latches are. 8/10 recommend (but 12/10 with Subaru blinders haha)!
