Features We Love

For 2025, the two-row Jeep Grand Cherokee did not receive any major redesigns or feature overhauls since it's redesign in2022. Jeep mainly focused on making the lineup more affordable, lowering pricing across several V6-powered trims while continuing to offer the same family-friendly layout, technology, and capability introduced with the current generation. T

The Jeep Grand Cherokee and Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe are essentially the same vehicle from a size and interior standpoint. They share the same cabin dimensions, seating space, cargo space, and overall family functionality, so car seat setups and passenger room feel nearly identical between the two. The biggest difference is the powertrain, since the 4xe is the plug-in hybrid version of the Grand Cherokee.

  • Excellent second-row car seat setup: there are lower anchors on both outboard seats and three top tether anchors across the back of the bench, so you have a lot of flexibility for multiple car seats.
  • Wide bench seat: I could comfortably sit in the middle seat without sitting on buckles, which usually means easier three-across potential and more usable space for families.
  • Great rear-facing space: the second row felt incredibly roomy with plenty of legroom, so rear-facing seats should fit comfortably without forcing the front seats too far forward.
  • Second-row comfort features: heated and ventilated outboard seats, rear sunshades, side and rear vents, and tons of charging ports make this a really comfortable setup for kids and passengers.
  • Family-friendly visibility: the digital rearview mirror is such a smart feature because passengers or tall car seats won’t block your view out the back.
  • Huge panoramic sunroof: this makes the cabin feel so open and bright, especially for kids riding in the second row.
  • Functional trunk space: the cargo area is surprisingly large for a hybrid, and there’s still a spare tire underneath which I always appreciate in a family SUV.
  • Easy power liftgate button placement: Jeep added a close button right on the liftgate that’s easy to reach, which is genuinely helpful if you’re shorter or loading kids and groceries all day.
Car Mom Review

The Exterior

The Grand Cherokee 4xe Feels More Premium Than Ever

Jeep really elevated the exterior styling on this redesigned Grand Cherokee. It still has that rugged, recognizable Jeep look, but now it feels much more refined and upscale, especially in this Summit trim. Honestly, it gives me mini Wagoneer vibes in the best way.

The Styling Feels Bold Without Being Overdone

The front end has a really strong presence with the signature seven-slot grille, aggressive hood lines, and LED lighting. Even though this is still a practical family SUV, it feels sporty and polished instead of bulky or boring.

  • Classic Jeep grille: the seven-slot grille keeps the Grand Cherokee recognizable right away
  • Aggressive hood lines: adds a more premium, athletic feel to the front end
  • LED lighting throughout: modern daytime running lights and headlights help the exterior feel updated
  • Beautiful wheel options: the 21-inch wheels on this Summit trim completely change the look of the SUV
  • Blue 4xe accents: subtle blue detailing and badging help distinguish the plug-in hybrid without making it feel flashy

It Still Feels Functional for Families

Even with the luxury feel, Jeep didn’t lose the practical side that families need. The SUV has a nice ride height without feeling intimidating, and the overall shape still feels easy to live with day to day.

  • Large windows and panoramic sunroof: helps the cabin feel bright and open for passengers
  • Power liftgate with easy-to-reach button: genuinely helpful when loading groceries or managing kids
  • Roof rails included: great for families who need extra storage flexibility for trips and gear
  • Big SUV presence without feeling oversized: still easy to maneuver while giving you tons of space inside

Mini Wagoneer vibes in a Jeep

First Row

The first row of this Grand Cherokee 4xe honestly surprised me. Jeep really leaned into the luxury feel here, and in this Summit trim, it feels much more upscale than previous Grand Cherokees. There’s a ton of technology packed into this cabin, but it still feels approachable and easy to use.

The Technology Feels Modern Without Being Overwhelming

Right away, the screens stand out. You get a digital gauge cluster, large center touchscreen, heads-up display, and even a separate screen for the front passenger, which makes the whole cabin feel really high-end. I also love the digital rearview mirror because passengers or car seats won’t block your visibility out the back.

  • Passenger display screen: gives the front passenger their own controls and entertainment
  • Digital rearview mirror: especially helpful when the back seats are full of passengers or car seats
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto: easy connectivity without cords everywhere

Jeep Kept The Controls Easy To Use

Even with all the tech, the layout still feels intuitive. The hybrid driving modes, off-road settings, and suspension controls are all easy to reach without digging through confusing menus.

  • Simple drive mode controls: hybrid, electric, and e-save modes are easy to switch between
  • Rotary shifter setup: clean design that frees up space in the center console

The Front Seats Feel Seriously Upscale

This Summit trim really feels luxurious with quilted leather, ambient lighting, a suede headliner, and massaging front seats. The center console also has great storage with multiple USB and USB-C ports, a wireless charger, and plenty of room for everyday family clutter.

Second Row

The second row in the Grand Cherokee 4xe is where this SUV really shines for families. It feels incredibly roomy, the bench is wide enough to make car seat installs easier, and Jeep included thoughtful features that make everyday life with kids much more comfortable.

Lower Anchors Are Located In Both Outboard Seats With Three Top Tether Anchors Across The Back

The Grand Cherokee 4xe has lower anchors in both outboard seats and three top tether anchors across the back of the second row bench. I also really liked how wide the bench felt because I could comfortably sit in the middle seat without sitting on the buckles, which usually tells me families will have more flexibility with car seat placement.

  • Lower anchors in both outboard seats: gives families flexibility for rear-facing or forward-facing installs
  • Three top tether anchors across the back: allows multiple forward-facing car seat positions
  • Wide second-row bench: helps create more usable space between car seats

Rear-Facing Car Seats Should Fit Comfortably

The second row felt extremely spacious, especially for a two-row SUV. At six feet tall, I still had plenty of room sitting behind my own driving position, which makes me feel confident rear-facing seats would fit well without completely sacrificing front-row comfort.

Rear Passengers Get Excellent Comfort Features

Jeep packed this second row with features families will actually use. The ventilated and heated outboard seats, rear sunshades, side and rear vents, and multiple charging ports make this space feel much more premium than most family SUVs.

  • Second-row heated and ventilated seats: included on both outboard seats in this Summit trim
  • Sunshades built into the doors: a feature that can be surprisingly hard to find in a two-row SUV
  • Side and rear vents: helps airflow reach kids sitting in car seats more effectively
  • Two USBs, two USB-Cs, and a household outlet: plenty of charging options for passengers

Wide bench with excellent car seat space

Trunk

The Grand Cherokee 4xe Has One of the Most Impressive Trunks in the Hybrid SUV Category

I was honestly shocked by how much cargo space Jeep kept in this plug-in hybrid. A lot of hybrid SUVs sacrifice practicality once the battery gets added, but this trunk still feels huge and very functional for family life.

The cargo area in the Grand Cherokee 4xe offers 37.7 cubic feet behind the second row, which is very competitive for a two-row midsize SUV.. The wide opening and square cargo shape also make the space feel especially usable for strollers, sports gear, groceries, or road trip packing.

The Cargo Area Still Feels Practical Despite The Hybrid Battery

One thing I immediately noticed is that the cargo floor still feels very usable and flat. Jeep also kept a spare tire underneath the trunk floor, which is something I always appreciate in a family vehicle.

  • 37.7 cubic feet behind the second row: impressive space for a plug-in hybrid SUV
  • Spare tire still included underneath: something many hybrids no longer offer
  • Wide cargo opening: easier for loading larger strollers or bulky items
  • Easy-to-reach liftgate button: especially helpful for shorter parents loading kids and groceri

Safety

The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee Earned An IIHS Top Safety Pick Award

The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee earned an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick award. It received Good ratings in the small overlap front test and updated side crash test. The Grand Cherokee also earned an Acceptable rating for pedestrian front crash prevention and a Good or Acceptable headlight rating depending on trim and equipment.

Front Outboard Seat Belt Pretensioners Are Included

The 2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee includes pretensioning devices in the front outboard seat belt system. These devices are designed to remove slack from the seat belt early in a collision and are intended to work for occupants of all sizes, including those in child restraints.

Standard Driver Assistance Features Are Included

  • Blind spot detection: standard
  • Lane departure warning and prevention: standard
  • Rear automatic braking: standard
  • Pedestrian front crash prevention: standard system

LED Lighting And Driver Assistance Technology Remained Available

  • Premium headlight configurations: available depending on trim
  • Seat belt reminders: included
  • Advanced safety and driver assistance technology: available across the lineup
Car Seat Setup

Two Lower Anchor Sets Are Located In The Outboard Seats

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee has two dedicated sets of lower anchors in the second-row outboard seats, and I found them fairly easy to access between the seat cushions. That always makes installs feel a little less frustrating, especially if you are moving seats around often.

Three Top Tether Anchors Give You Full Coverage Across The Row

There are three top tether anchors behind the second row, so you can install a forward-facing seat in any seating position across the bench. I always like seeing full tether coverage because it gives families a lot more flexibility when configuring multiple seats.

The Second Row Feels Wide Enough To Work With Multiple Car Seats

The second row feels wide enough to comfortably work with multiple car seats. The bench itself is fairly flat, which helps when you are trying to mix rear-facing seats, forward-facing seats, and boosters across the row.

Lower Ride Height Makes Loading Kids Easier

One thing I really noticed with the Grand Cherokee is that it sits lower than some larger SUVs. That makes it easier for kids to climb in themselves and easier for parents loading rear-facing seats every day.

The Grand Cherokee Received A Marginal IIHS LATCH Ease Of Use Rating

The 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee received a Marginal rating from the IIHS for LATCH ease of use. Even though the anchors themselves are accessible, I would still take a little extra time double-checking installs and tether routing.

This is a three across dream for over 1 year olds!! I love how sporty it is without the third row!! We do three across with two Graco 3lx and a Graco transitions. We also do 3 Graco transitions - one with seat beat two with harness. Because this does have the third row, my truck is huge!!!! We love it!

In my pre-mom life, I really did like this car! I think it would make a GREAT teenager car or even a one kid car. I don't think it would grow with a family well. The trunk space was awesome since there was not a 3rd row, so that is a plus.

I have loved my Jeep Grand Cherokee L! It has been with me from 1-3 babies. The second row bench fits 3 across. It has had no major issues. My only complaint has been from time to time the system updates and for some reason that switches the language to Italian and the units to km/h and Celsius.

Bought car new in 2019 (young with no kids), LOVED IT! After now owning for 7 years it has been in the shop for repairs once a year for the last 4 years. Radiator, Oil Pump, Water Pump, Electrical Issues, ect. I have extended warranty for 1 more year which I am very grateful for, but will be trading in as soon as I am close to running out of warranty. Besides reliability, the size is perfect. You don't find many 2 row SUVs with trunk size like the Grand Cherokee. Interior wise it gives luxury vibes for even base models.

Jeep was fine for 3 years that I owned it but couldn’t picture keeping it longer than that. Kept having issues with the check engine light coming on and the dealership kept saying nothing was wrong. We live in a very snowy climate and I was surprised it didn’t do as well in snow as I thought.

We have had no problems with our Jeep Grand Cherokee. It is comfortable and looks great. The interior tan leather has aged beautifully and is so soft. It has a powerful engine and can really get up and go. It is not great on gas mileage. One thing I don't like about the car is the screen has some issues over time - it almost looks like it is cracked, but it's like air bubbles under the screen.

I love this car but there’s been a lot of recalls. It’s a hybrid, so I think the newer tech has caused some issues. The space is great in the backseat and trunk. I can comfortable fit a car seat and a booster, but I think a third car seat or booster would be really cramped.

Today I test drove the ‘22 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I’m looking for a larger mid-size SUV for my 2 kids, 1RF, 1FF. I had a 2012 Grand Cherokee that I loved driving, but it wasn’t as “mom friendly” as other cars I hear Kelly talking about. That said, I loved the drive! But, no ceiling vents, non-removable head rests, no sun shades. I want to test drive a Grand Cherokee L and compare.

I had this car pre-kids and it was just meh. I initially bought it because I thought it looked nice. Unfortunately, I didn’t do any research into all the WILD issues that Jeeps are notorious for (the engine collapsed in on itself??). Outside of having to pay to replace the engine at 50,000 miles, I didn’t have any other major issues, but just random problems here and there. The touch screen had a mind of its own and would just randomly not turn on, or if it was on, it would randomly start dialing my whole phone contact list. The true breaking point was when we had kids and tried to fit a car seat in the second row…. Good luck. It technically worked, but both my husband and I are tall (5’11 and 6’4) and one of us was uncomfortably squished at all times with a car seat in the second row. We made it work for about a year with our daughter and when we found out we were having a second, we traded it in for a second Ford F-150 and I’m obsessed with my new mom car. Couldn’t recommend an F-150 enough!!

Loved this Grand Cherokee. The look and performance were great, I loved the interior. I have a great experience with this car. I liked all of the features I was able to get with this vehicle without it being super pricy. Unfortunately the space was just not working for me once I had 3 kids. I WAS ABLE to do 3 across with 2 slimfits and a Nuna Rava but it was TIGHT. The trunk barely fit my double stroller. I was sad to move on from this vehicle but it did do us well for a few years!

It is a perfectly fine car. But that is all it is, fine. It feels like the SUV most driven on the road. You see them EVERYWHERE. The body style feels boring and outdated now that it has been around for so long (I know there is an updated version but this body style feels like it's been around 10 years). I have 2 kids in car seats who were 3 and 5 when we bought this car. The car seats installed nicely and there was good leg room in the 2nd row. Enough space to fit a smallish person between the car seats. Nothing crazy. The drive is nothing crazy either. It doesn't have a ton of power. The screen feels small inside and technology isn't great. (we ended up selling this car after about 1.5 years to buy a BMW X7)

This car has been very comfortable! Our kids would so much rather ride in this car vs. my husband’s truck. There is plenty of room in the 2nd row for our teenage boys. Charging electronics has been easy for all of us on trips. I don’t love how my seat warmer turns off all of the time- that is my biggest gripe. We bought this car brand new and it truly has not given us any issues I would recommend!

Really like the interior of the car. I have 3 boys and they all have plenty of space in the back. Happy with the trunk space. Like the 2 cupholders for the second row. Happy with the purchase overall.

I love my Grand Cherokee. I sold my 2018 when I was pregnant with my second child because I was convinced I needed a three row SUV and we NEVER used the third row in my replacement car so we went back to the two row for more trunk storage (to be fair we also have a Wagoneer when we need a third row). She drives great, looks stylish, reliable. Everything I need in my mom car.

I LOVED my jeep Grand Cherokee and I only have two complaints. With kids the back row didn't have ceiling air vents, only tiny console vents, so in the warm months a stroller fan was necessary! And the front to back room was tight with car seats. Especially if you have a tall passenger. I was very sad to upgrade to a Tahoe, but it's much more practical and roomy for kids so far.

If you don’t have dogs and kids, and don’t go on frequent longer road trips, this car has been great! With two dogs and a baby, we’re at our max. Pre baby, it was perfect size and comfortability for us. With just one baby it would be great! The back seat - minus the middle seat - is pretty comfy. My only con is the lack of ceiling vents, but overall it does cool and heat quick enough to not be a huge concern for a back seat passenger, except for a rear facing child which does end up warmer than avg in the summer IMO. We’ve had zero mechanical issues so far. The tech is good for what I wanted when we bought it. The drive is smooth. The interior feels upscale without an outrageous price tag. The trunk space is great! Can’t say enough good things in our time with it.

The Grand Cherokee was perfect before kids. Loved the exterior and all of the features. The backseat is just very tight. We could not comfortably fit our rear facing car seat (Chicco Keyfit 35 or Graco Turn 2 Me) with an adult riding up front. Riding in the passenger's seat, I was uncomfortably close to the dash.

Overall, I really do love this car. I love how high up I feel I sit without driving a large tank, the turn radius, blind spot recognition, and the exterior look with matte grey finish and black accessories/wheels. I have had absolutely no issues or repairs needed thus far. Now for the downside- for backwards facing car seats there are no overhead vents and we don’t have a ton of room in between seats to where we do have to pull our front row seats up uncomfortably so they’re not touching the back of the car seats. This is for both our newborn car seat and rotating convertible.

I am happy with our Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe 2024. I absolutely love the PHEV model, and can do most daily driving on the charge it holds. We don’t have an EV charger installed at our house and just use the standard 110v cord. The drive can sometimes be clunky when the car is switching between battery power and gas, but not every time. I like the infotainment system setup and think the car has a good combination of physical buttons and in-screen buttons. Almost all of the climate control can be accessed from physical buttons or on the screen. My one complaint in the front seat is that the console seems to take up a lot of room but the storage in it is surprisingly small. The main compartment just isn’t very big and there isn’t any storage down by the foot well like I’ve seen in other cars. The backseat is comfy and the cargo area is large. Another perk is the full size spare tire… you don’t realize how helpful that is until you need it!

This is a mom-mobile! Very comfortable for all passengers and easy to use with a car seat in the second row. I have the L version with a third row and it is quite large. My only complaint is that it is long and the exterior reminds me of a van.

Love my jeep, it has everything I wanted except one thing which was ceiling vents in the second row. I thought this would be ok in the long run but on super hot days my son complains it takes a long time to cool down back there. Definitely something I will not skimp on next time.

Overall I really love my Grand Cherokee. This is my third grand cherokee, though I preface that by saying my husband works for a dealership. We really like the Grand Cherokee and have enjoyed it for one child. She sits in the middle in her car seat due to car sickness and the car seat fits well, though we make sure to get one that is compatible with non-removable headrests. However, it is tight to walk around inside of the car, but my daughter can do it herself, just in comparison to the Ram 1500 my husband owns it is a lot tighter. I love the drive of my car and am very comfortable as a driver. One thing I do not like is the knob gear shifter as when things are in the cupholder the cups are in the way of the shifting.

I really love my grand Cherokee it's perfect for my family of 4! Three across in the back is possible but tight given the current car seats we have but there's plenty of room if we want to take an older child or adult. No real complaints the trunk storage space is great for bikes/groceries and strollers!

This was my husbands car and we both loved it! It was honestly fine for us with 2 kids, once we had our 3rd it would have been tough to find a car seat configuration that worked to fit us all in. However, that was not the reason we sold it in 2023, we had a big move coming up and our cars were not going to be able to come with us. We loved how this car drove and it was sporty and functional.

I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee (Upland trim) brand new in 2018. I knew exactly what I wanted before shopping and negotiated a great deal. It has been incredibly reliable and I just recently had to get a new battery earlier this year, 8 years into owning it. A downfall is the battery is located under the passenger seat and it took my husband a long time and a lot of frustration changing to battery. The first time it ever needed any repairs was not until 4 years into owning it. It drives great and smooth, picks up speed easily, and is fun to drive with plenty of room for our family.

Owned a 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee for 10 years with a bench seat. I was always impressed with bench seat and the cargo space in the back. You could do three across on the bench or 2 with the adult comfortably sitting in the back with both forward facing car seats. Rear facing car seats fit better in the middle in my opinion. We loved this car for the space and reliability. We had a lower trim level so the technology was not top of the line. I loved the body style and height of the Jeep and would buy it all over again! It served us well moving over 5 states!

My husband gets "dealer cars" and about every 6 months gets something new. His favorite car to get was a Jeep Grand Cherokee. They look nice on the outside, drive well, have good technology, and have good amenities and features. The trunk space was excellent and it was comfortable for passengers. As a family of 6 however, it means that he couldn't take all of our kids at once. Fitting 3 kids with one in a booster was fine as it was a roomy second row.

This is my second Grand Cherokee L and it has been perfect for our family of 4. My husband was excited about the new hurricane motor and it is very quick compared to my 23 and the gas mileage is a little better. We only have one kid in a car seat and I have very tall kids so finding a car seat that had extended harness height with non removable headrests wasn’t the easiest but we went with a Britax grow with you and it has worked great. Third row has plenty of space for kids and I at 5’7” can sit back there comfortably. I love all the tech and driver assist. The 26 is still very new to us but our 23 was extremely reliable and only ever had maintenance with 92k miles and 3.5 years.

I love the Grand Cherokee. I only have one child (4yr old) and it’s a great fit. I started with a regular Jeep Cherokee then just simply wanted to upgrade. It’s a smooth ride, plenty of room, and looks nice! I drive about 45 minutes to work, and it’s great for my commute. I live in SE Ohio and it does great on our snowy days, and goes smoothly up my hill driveway! I have a Britax car seat, which is super easy to install and fits very easily into the seat!

We have the 4xe. It’s a great car when it works. Lots of power and able to fit 3 across in the back seat, but it’s snug. It has been plagued with recalls and the technology can be glitchy. We have also not had the best dealership experiences in the broader Denver area

Ok car for the price, however, it lacks quite a bit in functionality. Back seat is only big enough for 2 car seats and does not leave enough room for a middle passenger. Trunk is spacious. Ventilation for the back seat is poor.

This is my favorite car I’ve owned yet. I purchased the car because I wanted 4x4 as my last didn’t have it, and I was also looking for something larger and heavier. Right after purchasing the vehicle, we had a major snowstorm and I have never felt safer in a vehicle. We purchased the car as just a married couple trying for a baby, and now we’ll be bringing our first home in December in it!

I can fit three diono car seats across in the second row of this vehicle and it has a ton of cargo space. The in vehicle technology is pretty basic and the pickup on this car is not sporty or very powerful even given it is a V6 but overall I have been happy with the vehicle.

I LOVED this car! We bought a 2016 new for just my husband and I (wouldn't let me select that year), and it grew with us for 10 years and 3 kids later. We only got rid of it because we were having a 4th kid. The reliability of ours was great. No issues with engine/transmission ever. We were at 150,000 miles. Over the course of 10 years, I had a license plate light go out, the parking brake release acted up one time, that's it. If we did not have to upgrade our car, we would still be driving this daily with 3 across! Carseats DID matter because it was a tight 3 across situation, but totally doable! We had several different set-ups over the years, 1. Infant, RF, FF 2. Infant, RF, Booster 3. RF, RF, Booster 4. RF, FF, Booster We loved the Graco Slimfit 3LX for the middle seat, then had a Graco Slimfit (not the 3 LX) outboard, and a Graco Transitions outboard. There was still plenty of room for driver and passenger seats, did not feel cramped ever. The trunk space was phenomenal. We could fit the mockingbird stroller, 2 seats, scooters and even groceries. We were sad to get rid of our Jeep, it served us SO well for 10 years and for 3 kids.

My in-laws own this car so I have lots of experience installing car seats in it and have drove it myself a few times. It is very comfortable. I was impressed with the spaciousness of it. It fit all of my car seats without a problem. They have had a few issues that the dealer has fixed but something to mention. If you have two kids, this is good car. Trunk is spacious and fits stroller and groceries with no problem.

I loved this car as a single person and even starting our family. I’ve owned it for 8 years. It’s been very reliable. Now with two kids it feels very small. The trunk space is great but we often have other family members to bring places and that’s not an option. Even needing more room in the front row with drinks and misc. things it feels very tight.

We listened to Kelly when she said not to upgrade to a bigger Mom Car for our first kid, and didn't even feel the need to for our second. This Jeep has been our main family car for our two kids and small dog, who can sit in the middle seat in a dog bed during road trips. I love the safety features (automatic brakes, parking sensor system). Tech served us well but of course has become outdated now (no Apple CarPlay). Have to say we are outgrowing the space a bit now for longer road trips/car pooling for school, but it has served us well for the past 5+ years.

I really like our Jeep Cherokee, but if I’m being completely honest, there are a few things I would have thought about differently before buying it as a family vehicle. The Jeep is comfortable and works well for everyday, shorter trips. It has that classic Jeep feel and is easy to drive, but compared with our Telluride, the ride isn’t nearly as smooth. The Telluride feels more like a car, while the Jeep feels a little more rugged and SUV-like. For quick errands and around-town driving, though, it gets the job done. My biggest issue is the rear-seat air vents. They’re located on the back of the center console, rather than higher up where they can effectively cool the back seat. In Puerto Rico, where it is HOT basically year-round, this becomes a real issue. We have a rear-facing 2 year-old, and I notice that he can get pretty warm back there. This is one of those things I honestly didn’t think enough about before buying it. When you’re shopping for a family car, you’re looking at the pretty exterior, the trim, the technology, the seats… but where the air actually comes out for a rear-facing toddler? THAT should be on the checklist. We also have the bench rear seat, which seemed like the obvious choice for having kids. But with two car seats installed, the middle seat becomes extremely narrow. And if you put one of the car seats in the middle, getting your child buckled in becomes almost impossible because there simply isn’t enough room to maneuver around the seat. That’s something I think moms need to consider when looking at the actual car-seat configuration—not just whether a vehicle technically fits two car seats. The Jeep is definitely comfortable for shorter rides, and we still enjoy having it. But if I were shopping specifically for a family vehicle again, I would pay MUCH more attention to rear-seat airflow, car-seat placement, and how usable that middle seat actually is. Overall, I’d say the Jeep Cherokee is a comfortable, practical SUV for our family.

I absolutely love my Grand Cherokee. It drives so nicely, especially with the air suspension. We did have to replace the screen for the radio due to it delaminating. But other than that I haven’t had any real problems with it besides typical maintenance. We are a family of 4. My husband is 6’2” so the front to back seat space was tight for us with two rear facing seats but we made it work because I love my car. Eventually we will need to upgrade because we want one more baby but I don’t even want to.

We’ve had this car for three years. Twice in 6 months we’ve come back from a week long vacation and the car battery has been dead. Once jumped, it works just as always has. The dealership says it is not throwing v up and codes. For this reason, we don’t take it to the airport anymore. Aside from this one issue, she’s a great looking car and drives well. We had the brake caliper covers dipped in red and windows tinted. She looks like a BMW from certain angles. It serves our family well. We don’t have needs for a third row.

I absolutely loved this car before I needed to add car seats. It is not a family friendly vehicle. To allow the most passenger leg room I have been using a baseless Nuna Pipa Urbn, and a Nuna Rava for my toddler. The passenger seat was useless when I had a maxi cosi infant seat for my first child.

Both my husband and I love this car for our current family 3 and are excited to see how it feels with baby number 2 coming soon. We have the overland package which has a ton of features including heated, cooled, and massaging seats in the front (luxurious for sure!) and sunshades and vents on the door columns in the second row. The trunk space feels huge but the second row leg room does feel a little cramped even with both my husband and I being relatively short people. We only planned to keep this car for 5-7 years because of reliability concerns but after 4 years of ownership we are both now commenting how we will be sad to have to look for something a little bigger. Also noteworthy, this is one of only a few option we found when looking for a midsized SUV over 6000lbs in GVWR for tax purposes.

My Jeep grand Cherokee has been perfect for my two small children. We do have a larger car in case we need to bring anyone with us but the trunk space in the jeep is incredible.

Overall, I really like my Grand Cherokee, especially as a family vehicle. My biggest complaints are the lack of extra cup holders, no ceiling vents in the second row, and limited legroom in the back seat. That being said, it fits my forward-facing high-back booster and infant car seat just fine, which is a huge plus. The hatchback is also great for a family—it has plenty of room for strollers, bags, and all the extra stuff that comes with kids. Overall, it’s been a great vehicle for our family, with a few second-row features I wish it had! Feels luxurious without breaking the bank!

I own a Limited with Technology II package . The new generation Jeep added additional inches to the interior cabin of the Grand Cherokee and it really feels like it. The second row lives roomier than my previous generation Grand Cherokee. Im quite short but second row room is impressive with rear facing car seats for even taller drivers. I bought this car, reliability ratings be damned, because of the comfort, interior cabin noise and how it drives. I purchased the tech package to get the manual built-in sun shades which is hard to come by in a 5 passenger vehicle and they get used daily! The tech package also came with 360 camera and ventilated seats. The drive is very quiet and a smooth - what brought me back to them after owning another generation . Six cylinders provide the performance I want and ability to tow what we need without having a large full size SUV. Smooth as butter winter drive and so many fun off-road features regardless of i even use them. Can she climb a snowplow pile in a target parking lot? You may never know. But I can say, you bet she can! Cons: Piano black center counsel, would like better door cup holders in back seat, non-removable headrests, this trim didn’t have auto-hold which I expected at this price, generally expensive for what it is, everyone who hates Jeep likes to tell you they hate Jeeps.

Just purchased our second Jeep Grand Cherokee! We are a family of 3 with a seven year old, and this is truly a unicorn of a vehicle. We love how high up it sits, that it has a V6 engine, and that the trunk is super spacious. We value the drive of a vehicle, so performance is as important as styling and space. We ordered a 2022 Grand Cherokee Limited during the time when there were no vehicles on lots. Full disclosure we had several warranty repairs and did not want to keep that one beyond the warranty period, so we traded in the 2022 for a 2024 Grand Cherokee Summit and are so pleased with the upgrade. I’m hopeful that the 2022 just had some bugs from all that was going on during that time and it being the first year of the new body style.

Not much leg room with carseats in the second row. The plug-in hybrid technology is very clunky and doesn’t feel super reliable. Several recalls requiring repair in the first three years. I think the electric technology needs some more development. The switch between gas and electric is very obvious and sometimes causes the car to shake or stall. Visually, love the car. The dash and interior are great, and the infotainment is easy. I wish it felt better mechanically because it really is a nice looking vehicle.

2025 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Blacked out trim and love that detail. 3rd row sits 2 and is perfect. Sold on the captain chairs on 2nd row. Great for driving teens around. Always could use more cup holders. Wish I had upgraded the radio. Overall love driving and plan to drive 10+ years.

When I purchased the Grand Cherokee I did not have any children. I loved my Jeep. It’s fun to drive, capable of towing our boat, and reliable. We’re in it for at least 10 hours every weekend for the past 4 years driving to our cabin. We’ve put a lot of miles on it! However, once having my baby, I quickly realized it’s not the ideal car to have, especially with rear facing car seats. There’s no upper vents in the back. There’s 2 very small vents in the back of the center console that provides very little airflow. The convertible car seat we have requires the seat to be reclined, which means 75% of the split backseat needs to be reclined cutting into the trunk space. All in all, great car, not very great for kids in car seats.

I get my oil changed regularly and do basic maintenance as needed during oil changes. The only other work I’ve had done on the car is new brake pads. Love this car!

My husband and I purchased this car brand new off of the lot. After just 400 miles, my water pump failed and the part was out of stock. The dealership had my car for 85 days before deciding to take a water pump off of a different vehicle to replace mine as we were creeping up on Georgia Lemon Law eligibility. Since then, my car has been nothing but problems - issues with the engine, my infotainment system stops working for a few days every time I get gas, etc. I will never ever own another Jeep and I am beyond ready to upgrade out of the chaos.

I really loved my Jeep Grand Cherokee! It was a great family vehicle when I had one baby—plenty of room for the car seat, stroller, and everything else we needed. It was comfortable to drive, reliable, and I never had any issues with it. Once our second baby came along, though, the space started to feel a little limited, especially with two car seats and all the extra baby gear. For a family with one child, I would absolutely recommend it. For a growing family, I’d probably look at something with a little more space. Overall, it was a comfortable, dependable SUV that served us really well! 

I bought this car when I was pregnant with my first child, and now that I have two kids, my perspective has changed a bit. There are definitely things I love about it. It's sporty, stylish, and still one of the cutest vehicles I've owned. The trunk space is surprisingly spacious, which has been great for strollers, groceries, and all the extra gear that comes with kids. It's also been a very reliable car overall. That said, there are some downsides that have become more noticeable as a mom of two. The biggest issue is the lack of ceiling vents in the second row. I didn't think much about that when I bought it, but with rear-facing car seats, there is very little airflow reaching the kids, which can be uncomfortable during warmer months. Legroom in the back seat is also limited. I constantly have to adjust my front seats to make enough room for the rear-facing car seats. I've also experienced some technology issues. The infotainment screen occasionally freezes, won't turn on, or malfunctions, and Apple CarPlay can be inconsistent when connecting. While I still love the look of the car and appreciate its reliability, I don't find it to be especially family-friendly for parents with young children.

The space in this car is great for our family of 4 (1 RF toddler & 1 FF harness). Trunk capacity is superb and it’s a comfortable ride when we’re driving around to activities. Our issue has been with the PHEV tech and the amount of recalls including the fear of not being able to plug it in as it might catch fire, meaning the electric portion has been useless for a large chunk of our lease.

For our family of four this car is great, the trunk space is wonderful. It’s paid off and serves a great purpose. My only issue is that I wish the second row could accommodate car seats, with non removable head rests, and what I could narrower seats on the bench, were limited in what car seats we can use with our almost 4 year old who is FF and our 16 month old who is still rear facing. Overall though, it’s a great car!

I wanted a smaller car after driving a Wagoneer, but still needed to accommodate 3 kids in car seats/boosters. We started with 2 FF, 1 RF and now have 2 in boosters, 1 FF. We have the captains chairs in the second row which is super comfortable for my kids. We have done 2 kids in the 2nd row, 1 in 3rd as well as 2 in the 3rd, 1 in 2nd with the other captain’s chair folded down for car line drop off. Pros: great tech, easy to park, feels sporty and cool, can fit kids + backpacks or groceries in trunk. Can fit double BOB in trunk with one seat folded down. Car seats/boosters fit great in each seat, can fit 2 car seats in 3rd row. 4 tether anchors, super easy to find and install car seats safely. Cons: child in 3rd row is sometimes too hot/cold (no rear ceiling vents), I do wish it was a little bigger. No LATCH in 3rd row for booster but per our manual we can use without. Overall this car has served our family so well in this season! Full disclosure when my lease is up we plan to go back to a full size SUV. This is mostly due to my kids growing, and us wanting to be able to bring friends along with us to activities. However, this vehicle is definitely getting the job done and I could continue to drive it indefinitely.
