2025 GMC Acadia

Features We Love
  • Car-Seat-Friendly Second Row: One of the best family features is the car-seat-friendly tilt on both second-row captain's chairs. The seats slide forward while a car seat remains installed, making third-row access dramatically easier for families with multiple kids in car seats. It's one of the most practical features parents can have in a three-row SUV.
  • Completely Redesigned Luxury Interior: GMC gave the Acadia a total interior makeover with premium materials, contrast stitching, wood trim, ambient lighting, and beautiful two-tone leather seating. Every trim also comes standard with an 11-inch digital gauge cluster and 15-inch infotainment touchscreen, making the cabin feel upscale no matter which model you choose.
  • Improved Third Row for Real Families: The larger body means a much more usable third row with increased legroom, headroom, USB-C ports, cup holders, and ceiling-mounted air vents. GMC also added middle head restraints, a long-awaited improvement that makes seating positions safer and more practical for families using boosters or passengers across all three rows.

2025 GMC Acadia Review: The Family SUV We've Been Waiting For

The Acadia went through a full redesign in 2024 and GMC went BIG.

Bigger Is Better

The biggest headline? The  Acadia has grown substantially.

It now ranks among the largest midsize SUVs on the market, putting it in the same conversation as vehicles like the Chevrolet Traverse and Honda Pilot. If you've been debating whether your family needs a midsize SUV or should jump to a full-size SUV like the Yukon, the new Acadia deserves a spot on your shopping list.

The extra size is immediately noticeable from every angle. The bold new front grille, squared-off body lines, and muscular stance give the Acadia a much more premium and confident appearance.

First Row

A Stunning New Interior

The interior completely surprised me—in the best way.

GMC absolutely elevated the design. From the beautiful wood trim and ambient lighting to the contrast stitching and premium leather seats, this cabin feels far more luxurious than previous Acadias.

One of my favorite combinations is the brown and white leather interior. It feels modern, upscale, and unlike anything we've seen from GMC before.

Even the door panels and speaker design feel intentional, creating an interior that looks significantly more expensive than it is.

Technology Comes Standard

One thing I really appreciate is that GMC didn't reserve the best technology for only the highest trim level.

Every 2025 Acadia comes standard with:

  • 11-inch digital driver display
  • 15-inch vertical infotainment screen
  • Wireless Apple CarPlay
  • Wireless Android Auto
  • Amazon Alexa integration
  • Multiple camera views
  • Wi-Fi hotspot
  • Auto Park Assist

Higher trims, like the Denali, also offer:

  • Head-Up Display
  • Super Cruise hands-free driving technology
  • Customizable ambient lighting
  • Premium audio and luxury finishes

It makes the interior feel modern no matter which trim level you choose.

Second Row

A Huge Upgrade for Families

As a CPST, this is where the Acadia really impressed me.

Car Seat Friendly Tilt

The biggest win is the addition of car-seat-friendly tilt on both second-row captain's chairs.

This feature allows the second-row seat to slide forward while a forward-facing car seat or infant seat base remains installed.

For parents loading kids into the third row every day, this is an absolute game changer.

Better Car Seat Hardware

The new Acadia includes:

  • Lower anchors in both second-row captain's chairs
  • Top tether anchors in all five rear seating positions
  • Available seven- or eight-passenger seating

One of my favorite improvements is something GM owners have been asking for for years:

Middle head restraints are finally here.

Previous GM SUVs often omitted center head restraints, making those seating positions less practical. Thankfully, GMC has corrected that on the new Acadia.

Third Row

Third Row Improvements

Because the Acadia is larger, the third row benefits significantly.

There's noticeably more:

  • Legroom
  • Headroom
  • Shoulder room
  • Walkway space between the captain's chairs

Even as someone who is about six feet tall, I found the third row surprisingly comfortable.

Passengers also get:

  • USB-C charging ports
  • Cup holders
  • Ceiling-mounted air vents

The vent placement deserves special recognition because third-row passengers are often forgotten when it comes to airflow.

No items found.

Trunk

Trunk Space Is Massive

One of the biggest improvements is behind the third row.

The cargo area is now 80% larger than the outgoing Acadia.

That means plenty of room for:

  • Strollers
  • Grocery runs
  • Sports equipment
  • Road trip luggage

There's also additional underfloor storage and available power-folding second- and third-row seats, making it easy to configure the cargo area for whatever your family needs.

We rented a 2024 Acadia AT4 for a week to take on spring break. We drove that thing from St. Louis to Destin and back, and thought it was a great car. Good gas mileage and gas tank size for a long road trip because we hardly had to stop. I appreciated that it had a trailer hitch for our bike rack, had plenty of room with the third row down for all our trip and beach gear, and the middle row space was equivalent for our two kids compared to our Vistiq and nearly as big as our old 2019 Tahoe. Car Play worked great. My kids are out of car seats so not insights there.

I LOVE this car!😍 It has been perfect for our family. It gives so much space (only 6 inches shorter length than a Yukon) with a smaller price tag. It looks and drives great. The interior has been easy to clean and keep looking nice. The touch display is really sleek and works so well. There are 5 cup holders within reach of the drivers seat and they fit all cups I have tried (even large 40oz). It also has ceiling vents!🙌 The trunk with the 3rd row up is still very spacious and has an additional compartment below for storage. I can easily fit our Zoe double stroller without folding down seats. The seats in the 2nd row have car seat tilt and also fold which is helpful for 3rd row access. The 2nd row seats also slide forward and back so you can adjust for where the legroom is needed. We have a Graco SlimFit3 LX and Baby Jogger City Turn in the captains chairs. We have had no problem with space even with the rotating car seat. My kids can easily see out the windows too which is nice. We have the Elevation trim which was just a great value for the price. There are a few features we would have liked to have, but just weren’t worth >20k more for us. Overall this is a great car for a family of 4, but could work great for 3-4 kids as well if you don’t need the extra trunk space too often.

Bottom line is this car would be perfect if it had a bigger engine. It sometimes feels like it takes a lot to accelerate from a complete stop but once you’re going, it’s totally fine. Everything else has been amazing. Super comfortable, even for a 6ft tall man in the 3rd row. The finishes are beautiful and the tech is great. Wouldn’t change anything other than needing a bigger engine. I’m a mom of two boys, 5 & 8, and I have the practically white interior version. Everything cleans up nicely but I would recommend the vinyl floor mats. I keep the third row up most of the time because there is enough space for GCI rocking lawn chairs (not the bagged kind) and sports bags without having to put the seats down!

She's stunning and spacious. We picked the Acadia over the Tahoe because the space was almost the same and the price was way better. We did the Denali trim level with the auto drive feature and have been really happy with it. The trunk has a surprising amount of space with the 3rd row up. I'll sit in the 3rd row sometimes to help the rear facing kids and it is pretty comfortable. I took off points for performance because the engine just does not feel strong enough for the vehicle, if that makes sense. I also took off points for no sunshades in the back seat.

Great car third row is definitely tight for an adult but we do not use it that often. Trunk space is just as big as my old Yukon with the third row down

I loved this car, I had the Denali trim, captains chairs. I had a car seat in each captain chair and I was able to climb through with the kids buckled and get into the 3rd row, good trunk space, plenty of room in the 3rd row for an adult. I’m 5’6 and had room to feel comfortable. Kids loved having their own moon roof.

I’ve had my 2021 Acadia for 5 years. I went from two kids to 4 in it. I’ve had three across RF and that was absolutely amazing! (I have the bench seat) I have since grown my family and now I have my 1yo RF behind driver and my 4yo FF behind passenger, it’s easier this way for the drop off line at school. I put my two oldest in the third row 7yo in a booster and 5yo FF in a harness. They all seem to love it and have plenty of space! We love our car but despise the trunk space! It’s my only complaint for the car, and I have the base model and I think it’s perfect I’m sure higher trims are even nicer. I fit a Zoe twin in my trunk with the third row up. I can also fit a bag or two next to it as well. Absolutely no Costco/Sams hauls unless everything is under everyone’s feet! But a week or two worth of groceries fits fine.

This car has been great for my family of 4. We mostly use it as a 4 passenger vehicle with a large trunk space by keeping the third row down. However, we do use the third row occasionally if we have grandparents riding with us and my kids fit fine back there, but it would be uncomfortable for adults. My two boys have plenty of room in the second row, air vents, and my husband and I are comfortable up front. I needed a bigger car without being too big, and I feel like this car fits that well. It also has plenty of room for all of the sports gear we lug around on the weekends. If we had 3+ kids, it may not seem big enough due to needing the extra trunk space and the third row being tight.

The car’s overall function does work well for a family of 4, but my issues have lied with the operation of the vehicle. I’ve had MANY oil leaks, and all repairs have been made with the dealer, but unfortunately they continue to happen when what is failing is the parts that GMC is putting on the vehicle. Unfortunately I think it’s a bit of a lemon, so it has tainted my view on the cars function for our family, because so much money has been sunk into it - even after warranties and protection provided by GMC.

I am in love with this as my mom car. She is big, but she’s not a boat. The second row bench is wonderful so I can have a giant trunk. I most commonly have 2 car seats back there but I can do 3 across for car pooling and helping pick up my friends kiddos. When i say the trunk is giant with the third row down my husband was able to fit a 170gallon husky tote from Home Depot in the back. We race motocross and my husband’s truck was down one race weekend, we were able to fit all our lawn chairs, coolers, and electric dirt bikes in the back no problem to make it to the race. The technology is great, the rear climate control is wonderful. It handles beautifully in the snow, the seat warmers are nearly instant and get HOT. Truly no notes, she’s wonderful.

This car is perfect for a family of 3 (one child). However, adding a second child to the mix this year has proved to be a bit more crowded with captains chairs than I would prefer. That being said, there are not really any issues with car seat compatibility in this vehicle. For reference, we have an Uppababy Mesa and Nuna Exec in the second row. I LOVE the get up and go that the V6 engine has in this car and I struggle that any newer midsized SUVs mostly have 4 cylinder engines. Absolutely love this car though and will be hopefully be hanging onto it for quite some time!

We love this car!! We have owned it (a 2025) for 1.5 years. We had one pretty annoying issue with the telematics control module (a quick google search will open a can of GMC worms). Besides that we have really enjoyed the car. It’s plenty big for our family of 4, and we leave the 3rd row up most of the time to take extra friends and neighbors with us. With the 3rd row up, I have enough room to stack 2 rows of groceries behind the 3rd row .. it’s a really big car without being “too big”. It has beautiful features and a luxury feel. Highly recommend.

Great for family of 4. Super roomy without being ostentatiously large and great on fuel! A bit gutless but for a mom car to get around a small city it doesn’t need more. Handles Canadian winter great! Only gripes are that the entertainment area rattles at high speeds/gravel roads and that the Apple CarPlay sync doesn’t always complete so I can’t control the music with the steering wheel controls.

We have loved the Acadia so far! We also own a GMC Terrain and had such great experience that we went back to GMC to get a larger vehicle for my husband. Currently have two in the captains chairs, and can still fit extra people in the third row as needed. Love the flexibility of lowering the third row for trunk space. The AT4 also has a very sleek look and is lifted. Love how this car drives like a truck but is not a large SUV.

Love this car! Plenty of room for all 5 of us on roads trips. The only thing I don't like is one seat has to remain down since we have a refacing car seat but other than that it's a great car! We will probably be getting a newer one once we're ready!

Amazing space without having to be a full sized car. Have 2 kids in high back boosters and one rear facing and love how they each have enough room so they don’t fight yet I’m close enough to be able to help. Love the sun roof and large screens and having heated seats in the second row is a huge perk when you have to sit in the back with the kids. Also kids are able to move the ceiling vents when they need to for air! Second row has car seat tilt which I will Never not have again! Also love how GMC had a free app that can lock/unlock and start the car to warm or cool it! It came with a year of some free tech which we don’t think is worth paying for however I miss the heads up display telling me the speed limits. That was a really cool feature that I wish was standard. The trunk is very spacious I can fit my double mocking bird stroller and has a compartment you can open and store smaller items. I keep extra clothes for kids and the car potty and stroller accessories in there. Highly recommend getting the rubber mats for the floors the dealer didn’t want to include these we have the AT4 model but it was a deal breaker for me with 3 kids and they ended up including since I wouldn’t budge. The mats are so easy to clean and cover the second and third rows. The seats are leather and a performance material since it’s the AT4 model and some of the performance material is harder to clean just needs a harder scrub but holds up very well! Love this car!

Currently own a 2026 GMC Acadia AT4 and have had it for almost 5 months. Coming from a Jeep Cherokee, we knew we needed a third row and more space with our second kiddo on the way! My husband owns a GMC Sierra AT4, so GMC was in our heads when starting the search. We love the look of the AT4 trim and just that extra *oofm* it gives the overall look of the vehicle. I pretty much always have the third row down as we don’t need it and it provides plenty of space for day-to-day travel. However, we do find ourselves getting tight for space between the stroller and big Costco hauls! That is an every so often issue though. I will note that if we end up having a third kiddo, we will need to opt for a larger vehicle (such as an expedition max for example). Overall a great vehicle and drives amazing. Another reason we chose this trim is because of the way it handles the snow in our long MN winters! Since it has not even been a year of owning this vehicle - I will check back again. Super happy with this vehicle so far!

I had older kids when we bought this so I can't attest to car seat friendliness. But it is an amazingly comfortable ride for 2 in the second row. We have done long rides with 1 in the 3rd row but it needs to be someone little. Perfect for a family of 4. Reliable and easy to maintain. Gets decent gas mileage. We have the denali AWD and it handles well in winter weather. I would buy another one.

My car has the captions seats for the second row. It works great to keep brothers from fighting in the car. I don’t have many complaints with it other than the trunk. Now that we had our 4th, the stroller I had doesn’t fit. I bought a new smaller one, the trunk closes, but I have to take the tray and the canopy off every time, which is a pain. I think this car would work well for older kids that can buckle themselves in the third row and a baby in the second. The trunk space is the biggest problem.

I LOVE this car! I currently have three across set up ( 7 yo HBB koa slim, 5 yo RF slimfit3lx, and 3 yo RF extend2fit 3/1). I’m pretty happy with the 3 across. I’m about to turn my 5 yo forward, so we’ll see how that changes things. I always have the ability to use the third row. I love being able to have the third row down for extended trunk space, but even with the third row up the trunk is very spacious. We’ve only had the car for a few months, but we haven’t had any issues so far outside of the onstar not working when we brought it home. That will be getting fixed this month. We were able to buy CPO with an additional year added onto the manufacturer warranty. Very happy so far!

I purchased this car brand new. We got the SLT trim with the extra tech and safety packages. Honestly I cannot imagine what bells and whistles a luxury SUV that this one does not have. It feels way more expensive than the price tag. We bought a FWD vehicle because we don’t plan on towing anything and the gas mileage is great for a 3 row SUV that is not a hybrid. On road trips I regularly get 28-30MPG and have gotten up to 32MPG on the highway. Most of our daily driving is in town and it is comfortable and spacious. I have two kids in boosters and a very tall husband (over 6’1”). He is able to put the driver and passenger seat where he wants them and my kids still have plenty of leg room in the second row. With the 3rd row down I am able to fit all the gear and equipment we need for my kids travel soccer (and usually a Costco haul too)! When we go on road trips we are able to have our black lab sit in the trunk and still have plenty of room for our bags. Adults have sat in the third row comfortably in town. It wouldn’t be the most comfortable on a road trip for an adult to sit back there but a teen or preteen would be just fine. They are comfortable seats because the third row only has 2 seats. A plus is the 3rd row has ceiling vents and cup holders so it doesn’t feel like an afterthought. The only disappointing thing about this vehicle is that at 48k miles the alternator went out and it was an expensive repair. I feel like this could be related to the auto stop that will automatically turn itself back on each time you start the car. It is my only complaint about the vehicle. I hope I can count on this to be reliable because it checks every single other mark we have. Comfortable, beautiful, good MPG, spacious, room to grow, and all the tech and convenience you would see in a luxury vehicle.

Frequent “shift to park” warnings and multiple trips to dealer for replacement harness to shifter impacted reliability score. Rear brake light also had to be replaced and resealed as water getting in during each car wash and peeling rims.

I have been very happy with my 2025 GMC Acadia Elevation so far. I have one child in a booster in third row, one forward facing car seat in second row and one rear facing also in second row. So far, there is plenty of space for my kids (ages 7 and under). The trunk is still a good size even with the third row up. It has just the right amount of technology and gadgets. And lastly, the exterior of the car is beautiful. It’s definitely the best looking mid size SUV in my opinion.

This car came in under our budget so we went with it. However it's been in the shop for different issues since we got it. Different dashboard issues. There was a time that the speed screen did not come on at all and I had to drive 2 miles down the road without it. The driver seat is good with a cup holder in the door that's not the most functional. And two others for driver and passenger. The second row has plenty of space and the seats slide forward and back. The back row is pretty tight. We are pass the car seat stage for the most part and when I transported other kids I would just use the seatbelt. I love the look but for some reason it's just been unreliable and has had to go into the shop more then any owner would want.

My 2024 GMC Acadia is a great car! It is one of the largest mid size SUV’s so there is a lot room between the second row, third row, and trunk space. I have the captain chairs and it is super spacious.

The Acadia has been great for our active family living in a snowy mountain environment. We needed a vehicle that could drive to the mountains and down rocky dirt roads. But also fit kids and carpool as needed. The third row is easily accessible and fits car seats in the second row very easily. Love all the cup holders and storage. We have had issues with on star in the vehicle and the vehicles WiFi. Tech support was unhelpful but those minor issues arent a deal breaker. Our car has the hands free cruise control and I like it much more than I anticipated. It works great especially highway driving. The larger trunk space even with third row has been important for our family. Combined with a roof rack we can take family trips with grandparents in third row even. Highly recommend the Acadia.

The GMC Acadia elevation trim level is nice with the bucket seats. However, to maximize the space for the driver with a rear facing car seat , you need to have the third row seat up and the bucket seat pushed all the way back. If you want to maximize the trunk space (great for double stroller, collapsible wagon, beach bags), you need to push the bucket seats all the up front then the seats can fully fold down. The trunk has a nice secret compartment that opens and I keep a lot of my kids extra clothes, towels, potty training stuff, things I don’t need for every day.

Drives great, the front seat area feels tight and too close to passenger person. Dislike where they put gear shifts - anything in the cup holders are right in the way! Like the 2 full size seats in 3rd row instead of cramming 3 smaller seats.

My mom owns this car - it’s her “grandma” car. I find it to be fine. The tech isn’t really there (which means as a “guest” I can navigate easily but feels like something from the 2010 era with a smaller screen and block letters. Leather seats, attaches kids car seats just fine. She has captains chairs - which works just fine considering there’s only two of mine 🤣 like the rest of the car, the third row is “fine”. As the resident short person, I typically will be the one to ride in the third row and I’m always thankful it’s never for more than 15 minutes.

2 kids in car seats, both rear facing. We have the denali trim and i am obsessed! Great room with third row down, and honestly great room behind third row too. Can fit in a travel stroller, and plenty of bags with third row up. Rotating car seat installed with latch and makes third row access super easy with car seAt tilt for when we have more passengers. I have the white/beige interior and i LOVE. Super easy to clean. Haven't had any messes I haven't been able to get out with a quick wipe down. The big screen has grown on me and now i don't mind it. Took me awhile to get used to in the beginning. Lots of cup holders, i love that there are 4 all accessible from the driver seat. Love the underpass area under the console for storage. Love the look of it! Overall, I feel like it has a lot of space without having to go full size SUV or mini van!

We have loved our 2024 GMC Acadia Denali. The new redesign is stunning and feels like I’m in a Yukon without the big footprint of one! It’s perfect for our family of four with two dogs. Both of my kids are in booster seats and fit comfortably in the captains chairs. We often have the third row up and have plenty of trunk space for day to day things. When needed, we will put the third row down for trips or Costco runs. Since we bought it new after the redesign we have had a couple of tech issues but they have been able to be resolved at the dealership. Annoying but sort of expected. Overall, we’ve really loved the luxury feel of the Denali trim in the Acadia midsize category.
