I drove this car before kids and with our first. Car was great until I had kid #2. NO room when my kids started forward facing and felt SO cramped no matter what car seats I tried. Trying to fit a portable potty in the 2nd row? Not a freaking chance lol I now drive a minivan which feels like a drastic difference I’ll never go back. Also no ceiling vents in the 2nd row with rear facing seats is tough in the summer especially.

This car has great tech with the apple carplay and safety features. The only drawback is that I don't think the second row is very spacious.

My first “big girl” purchase right out of college, and now here we are at 100,000 miles and two babies later. 🥹 I’ve had ZERO issues with this car, and it has truly grown with me through every stage of life. Even now with two car seats in the back, one rear-facing and one forward-facing, it’s still totally manageable, comfortable and has plenty of room for what we need. We’ll be keeping it until baby #3 comes along someday and we officially need something that can fit three across, but I really couldn’t have asked for a better first car. It was everything I needed in my 20s and has continued to be everything I need now as a mom of two. And honestly, at its age and with how reliable it’s been, I’d recommend it all over again, especially as a great first car for a 16-year-old. 100,000 miles down and still going strong!

Bought the car as a 20 something and it was great for then. Now, the 2nd row is very narrow. The what the seat is designed it is very hard to get install without having to trial and error a bunch of times. The sides and front slope up causing not a great fit. Now with a booster, the latch and buckle are very close. To buckle the seat, the buckle is essentially behind the booster making it extremely hard to buckle with the designated seat buckle. And if it’s latched, the latch is blocking the buckle. But because of the seat design you can’t really scoot the seat to make it work. It’s been frustrating. Hopefully this was fixed after the 2016 design.

This car is going to seem big enough when you are a pregnant and childless DINK. Once you put a car seat in here, you'll realize that the front passenger seat will need to be pushed forward completely. Be warned if you have two car seats and a tall main driver - this car may not work for you!

I’ve had this car for 10 years and during multiple life stages. We bought it with 1 kid and have made it work now that we have 3 kids. My kids are older now, and the second row is pretty tight for them, but it works! We were also able to fit two car seats and a booster in the second row when my kids were smaller.

It isn't really working for me anymore now that we've transitioned into a convertible car seat. There just isn't enough room in the 2nd row.

Very uncomfortable second row as a passenger adult. A convertible car seat requires the passenger seat to be pushed up so far that the front seat is unusable.

This car has been amazing for me, and now my family! This was my first 'big girl' purchase- it has survived college life and now serves as our family car! My husband is 6ft and I am 5'10", so the backseat takes a huge toll when we're both in the car. We have a Chicco Fit360 behind the passenger and while the passenger isn't super comfortable, it's possible. I can fit our Jeep jogging stroller with no problem. While recently traveling we fit the stroller, 3 suitcases, the diaper bag and a few more small bags between the backseats and the trunk. We only plan on having 1 child, so this car is perfect for our family and we intend on keeping it for as long as possible. I've had the car for over 5 years now and the only maintenance it's needed it routine (tires, brakes, rotors, etc.). We have taken this car from NY to SC multiple times, it's my daily driver and the car we take when we go anywhere as a family. It's served us SO well over 5 years and I hope for 5 more!

I've owned this car for almost 7 years now, we have over 100,000 miles on it now and it has been nothing but problems for us. Since we bought it we have received recall after recall on this vehicle. I believe we've had about 25 recalls on it since we've owned it. Lately, we have had all of the small things go wrong on it that can go wrong. The worst of all right now is depending on the day, I may or may not be able to open my trunk. Not even just broke lift gate, the trunk get's locked shut and cannot open.

Good until it wasn’t. We purchased our Ford Escape brand new in 2017, and while we were happy with it for several years, our experience changed significantly once we got beyond the warranty period. Earlier this summer, we had to replace the tailgate at a cost of about $3,000. Just one month later, at a little over 100,000 miles, the vehicle experienced what we were told was catastrophic transmission failure and needed a full transmission replacement. At that point, the cost of the repair simply wasn’t worth it to us, and we ultimately traded the vehicle in for only $2,000. It was extremely disappointing, especially because these issues felt well beyond the normal wear and tear we would expect from a vehicle that was not yet 10 years old. Since this happened, we’ve also come across several other owners reporting similar engine and transmission problems with Ford Escapes, which made the situation even more frustrating. Unfortunately, this experience left us very hesitant to purchase another Ford.

We bought this car used - however we are happy with the performance, size, and comfortability. It fits our two kids (6,2) and has ample trunk space.

I bought this car as my first time mom car and I wish the car mom existed back then! So many things I didn’t check before purchasing. My car didn’t have ceiling vents, and it gets up to 120 degrees in the summer so it was really hard on my rear facing baby. My husband also drove a 2018 escape and his did have ceiling vents, so just something to check on the specific vehicle you are looking at. We are also both very tall (5’11” and 6’4”). When we only had one baby, we had him in the middle and had no issues. But when we had another 16 months later, 2 rear facing seats was extremely uncomfortable. I had to move the passenger seat so far forward to fit a convertible seat that it was unpleasant to drive. My husband could not drive comfortably with a car seat behind him. By the time we were expecting our third, we could not make this car work. I will say the trunk space was amazing and I had plenty of space for my double stroller. I also took it on a 12 hour road trip before having my baby and it drove amazingly and was comfortable. Just be wary of rear facing seats with tall drivers!

I LOVED my 2019 Escape... as a mom of 1 kid. What started as my first adult car purchased after finishing college, turned into my mom car. And it served us well! We put some serious mileage on it, it had plenty of space for two adults and a dog, and was fun and easy to drive (plus it had great fuel economy!). When my first was born, my husband called himself "a monkey humping a football" with the Chicco Keyfit 35 (now Max) installed behind him. He was never comfortable. For me, I had absolutely no problems and had a bit of space between the seat and the drivers seat). When we moved our daughter to a Britax Advocate, he had more space. What changed the game for us was when we brought home baby #2 and we just, didn't have enough space. My Mockingbird double stroller took up the entire trunk with no room to spare, and the back seat was very cramped. After one family trip as a family of 4, my husband said we could no longer take the family car due to space. So, we traded it in for a Volkswagen Atlas (best decision!). For newlyweds, adults looking for the step past their high school car, small families, college students, or even a teen driver - the Escape was amazing. I loved driving it and it was bittersweet to let it go. But definitely not my go to for growing families.

This car has been great with a baby in an infant seat and with a forward facing toddler. I would not reccomend for two rear facing seats. There is only space on the passenger side for rear facing without Interferring with the drivers leg room. Trunk space is excellent and the car drives so spunky. The turbo engine really let's you weave in and out of traffic and accelerate very quickly if you want. Not the best car with car seats.

Loved my Escape. I feel like it would be a great car for 1-2 kids. Might have to take leg room into account if you or your spouse are on the taller side when you have car seats in the back. I kept this car until I was pregnant with our second baby (and knew we might have more kids as well) and I leveled up to an expedition. Other than needing extra room for our growing family I LOVED my Escape.

For a family with 2 kids, this car was PERFECT! It was the car I drove, and now it’s the one my husband uses (we got a minivan). Ours has been reliable and has felt very safe. It’s fuel-efficient. This is a very practical car. Trunk space is also great. My only complaint would be that it’s not great for 3 kids, but we knew that going into it!

I owned my ford escape for 10 years! She was good to me. I had the highest trim level and at the time she seemed very upgraded and fun. Zippy. I enjoyed the drive. I used that car after I had my first child and it did well with car seats as well. Ultimately the transmission gave out, but overall good car.

I’ve had my 2018 Ford Escape Titanium for years, so I feel like I can give a very real mom review of it. What I’ve always loved most is the size. It’s easy to drive, park, and maneuver, and it doesn’t feel bulky at all. For commuting, errands, daycare runs, and everyday family life, it’s incredibly convenient. Mine is the Titanium trim with leather, larger wheels, and a comfortable, nicely equipped interior. For one child, I think the Escape is a great little family SUV. With two kids, especially two large rear-facing car seats, it gets tight quickly. You can absolutely make it work, but you start sacrificing front-seat space, and that’s been the biggest reason I’ve wanted to size up. Cargo space is decent for a compact SUV, but once you add a stroller, diaper bags, groceries, and all the kid gear, it fills up fast. It works for everyday life, but you definitely have to pack strategically. From a driving standpoint, I’ve always really liked it. Mine has the 2.0L turbo, so it has plenty of power for highway driving and makes a great commuter. Car Mom verdict: I’d recommend the Escape for a mom with one child, older kids, or someone who wants a smaller SUV that’s easy to live with every day. For my current stage of life with two rear-facing kids, I’m ready for more second-row and cargo space. I don’t necessarily need a third row — I just want a little more breathing room. Would I buy one again for my family right now? Probably not. Would I recommend it for the right family? Absolutely.

The back seat is really tight with car seat/booster I do have a Nuna Rava and a Nuna Ace which I know are definitely one of the largest seats you can have but it does make it impossible to fit anyone in the middle seat. Even without the car seats it’s a tight squeeze for 3 people.

I have the lowest trim of the escape so it comes with very few bells and whistles. It’s been a fine car! We’ve only had to take it in to get fixed once in five years. We now have two kids and it’s definitely tight. It’s about to be paid off though, so we’re fine to make it work as long as possible! I get about 30-32 mpg and that’s including 2 hour trips on highways every couple weeks as well as small town city driving every day.

This car has had some minor issues come up over the years but has overall been reliable. Our family is certainly outgrowing it. We have been able to maintain 2 car seats but the space is tight with one car seat being a bit bulky and then affecting the space in the passenger seat ahead of it. I bought the car just prior to tech taking the next step with the larger screens etc so it’s definitely a bit lacking in that realm. It’s a pretty simple car, smaller on the SUV side so not suitable for more than 2 kids but overall would recommend although I think there’s better options out there.

Have loved this car from 0-2 kids over the years. Has been incredibly reliable with minimal issues, made it to 125k without a problem. Space has been our only issue now that we are 2 kids and a dog & drive 2+ hours 2-3x a month with everyone in the car. Have a uppababy mesa and a graco dlx 4ever with enough room in the front for my 6’0 husband to sit comfortably.
