2023 Volvo XC40

We leased this car during the pandemic, and I regret every moment of owning it. The only good thing I can offer about it is that it looks relatively nice outside and the electric range was great. On to the bad. The tires constantly popped, to the point where we were incredibly unsafe drivers trying to avoid the most average potholes. The backseat was very cramped front to back. The Google Maps integration was buggy. The screen would often take more than 2 minutes to turn on. Public chargers got stuck in the charging port more than once. And the absolute WORST part of this car was the rear view camera! It is positioned so it points at the ground??? It gives you no view of the surrounding area - even the most basic no nonsense rental cars have a better camera. Forums are filled with hacks to remount the camera but for an expensive electric car, are you kidding me? This was by far the worst car I have ever owned and I was so happy to turn it in. Of all my leases, it was also the most expensive turn in, with a nonsense $1500 cleaning fee for a car we rarely drove. Good riddance!

Loved this car. We had the all electric and it was a great intro to electric vehicles. The range was good. Car was sporty to drive and had a ton of great safety features.

As a mom of 1 living in an urban area, I absolutely loved the Volvo XC40. Extremely comfortable ride, reliable, amazing technology (the 360 cam is my absolute favorite feature), top of the line safety features, feels extremely luxurious without the heafty price tag of other luxury cars in the same size, and really great trunk space for only having 1 kid. Now that I have become a mom of 3 (just delivered twins), we are in the market for moving from the small size SUV to midsize SUV (since we still live in an urban area moving up to full size just doesn’t make sense for now for parking reasons/ease of getting around day to day). Unfortunately, I cannot imagine getting around day to day comfortably with 3 rear facing car seats & the trunk feels like it will now be much too small.

The volvo xc40's two rear seats are wider than our xc90's seats so they fit the Clek booster better and it is easier for our 6-year old to buckle. I think this is because the XC90 prioritized having actually 3-across seating that works in the second row and the XC40 is really only for two in the second row.
