Sometimes I complain about this car, and then I realize we’ve had it for almost 10 years with zero major issue, through two rough kids, now 8 and 4. Reliability is high. She drives well, and is pretty good on gas. The third row is useless - Too hard to access with the bench second row, and the trunk space is far too small with the third row up (could do a small grocery haul, or a small stroller). That said, with only two kids, this is not an issue for us. The second row is comfortable, but I do wish it had ceiling vents. Love the built in window shades and use them all the time. The tech is lame, no Apple car play or anything snazzy. But the screen is big for a 2017 girlie. Overall interior styling: it does not feel high end, but it doesn’t feel cheap either. It’s a solid medium. After 10 years, most things are in great condition with the exception of the steering wheel which started to peel because it’s not real leather. Nothing a nice wheel cover can’t help. TLDR; she is not flashy, but for our family she has been reliable, safe, and easy to own. With the 3rd row down, and a family of 4, she’s handled many road trips without issue.

I just upgraded from a 2014 CX-5 to a 2023 CX-9 and I love all the extra space! I have one rear facing car seat and one high back booster. I love the extra second row space! There is plenty of room for the passenger to sit comfortably in front of the Britax Poplar S. I haven’t had to use the third row yet but seems to be functional. There isn’t much trunk space with the third row up but a lot of cargo space with it laying down. So far, I am very happy with the upgrade in space and technology!

We have owned our car for a few months now and I can honestly say we love it. The car is spacious for us and our kids. We are both 6 foot tall and can comfortably fit in the passenger seat with the infant seat (Diono bucket seat) behind us. This was a non-negotiable for us. The car gets up to highway speed very effectively which was important for where we live and commute for work. Our older child is able to sit in the 3rd row in his booster seat. The only thing we would have asked for was a bench and not the captains chairs. However, with that said even with the third row up wr have plenty of space for what we need. We average around 20 mph with a 18gal tank and 23 on the highway. The technology in the car took a while to get used to with the knob, but once I got used to it, I don't miss the touch screen. The back ventilation is not in the ceilings, however the power it puts out our infant was never uncomfortable. The one draw back of the Mazda is how much is tied to the app. For instance the auto start is only accessible from the app. Even with that said, we are very happy with this purchase. The size of the car, the performance, and the Android auto have been perfect for what we need.
