2023 Kia Sorento

This is my husband's car, and I consider it a perfectly secondary car for many families. We have 2 kids (9 & 12) so carseats are not a factor. We take my car (Highlander Hybrid) for a longer trip, but the Sorento fits our family easily. The 3rd row is nice for the occasional carpool. With the 3rd row down my husband can easily fit his golf clubs- a must have for him :)

Overall I have loved this car! It has a luxury feel on a budget. I get great mileage with the hybrid. My biggest con with this car is the difficulty accessing the 3rd row if car seats are in the second. I’ve had to crawl through the trunk on occasion 😅 we rarely use it though so not a dealbreaker.

We love our hybrid sorento! We get over 30mpg. We bought it when we had one child and now we have two. I almost never use the third row and honestly wanted the third row only for the trunk space we get with it folded down. We do a lot of Midwest vacations where we drive about six hours and it can fit the stroller, pack and play, two adult bags, snacks, and everything else you can think of. There are some things I don’t love— my trim didn’t come with a bench seat, which in hindsight would have been nice. I also think it needs more cupholders in the front. It has adequate cupholders and USB ports in the back. There are no ceiling vents, which is a drawback, but the car cools down very fast so we never really have to worry about it. I don’t think you should purchase this car if you are wanting routine third row access, we’ve only used it a couple times for specific situations because the trunk space is negligible with it up. I love it for 1-2 kids! Would not recommend for more than that :)

Really loving this car! We have a 2020 CRV as well, and this feels like the perfect upgrade to a more spacious, upgraded SUV. We only have 2 kids, but wanted a midsize that would grow with us, and be there if we needed 3 rows in a pinch. When we bought the car, I also spent hours searching for financing options within our budget and it had a really great low-interest deal. I felt good about the pricing and that I wasn’t paying thousands in interest or with a long financing plan at the end of the day. My biggest concern here is longevity, but time will tell!

I have the hybrid version of this car. It has been great for our family. The cheapest 3 row hybrid on the market at the time by FAR with all the tech we wanted. I usually drive with the third row down, so the trunk is huge, which is great for my great dane and husky to ride in the back. I have even fit the dogs back there WITH my double bob stroller. I put a cargo net up behind the second row to protect from projectiles in the trunk. When we need it, we put up the third row for guests — we have them climb in through the trunk because the carseats are installed in the second row at all times. It's a bit annoying for the guests, but having only two seats in the back gives them more room, and we only ever go on short rides with people in the third row. I would probably not recommend putting adults back there for a long drive, but kids would do just fine, especially since there are USBs and cupholders back there for them too. The car has all the tech bells and whistles I could want while still having buttons in the infotainment area where I want them. I have only had two check engine light issues since owning the car, and they both were false alarms triggered by it being extremely hot outside and setting off a sensor that just had to be reset. Other than that, the car has had two recalls that were promptly fixed by the dealership, which were both very minor, and I was allowed to keep driving while waiting for my appointment. I have been very happy with this car so far, the 10 year/100k mile warranty is great, and I may get another Kia hybrid after I'm done with this one. I will be keeping it until just before the warranty is up.

Sorento is sporty and responsive on the road. It is stylish and has great technology. Front power seats are a plus but the A/C vent are little to be desired. The second row cup holders on the door are ineffective for kids. With my grands carseat behind the passenger seat, the seat has to be full forward for our 4 yr olds’ leg room. The cargo area is spacious with the third row down but the seating area is only good for kids. In the 2.75 years I have had it: there have been three engine repairs: each covered under the warranty. In the market for a larger SUV that is highway worthy, stylish, and plenty of leg room for growing grands!
