Features We Love
  • Spacious Back Seat for Car Seats: The extra-wide second row easily fits three car seats across, with plenty of legroom left over—making it a dream setup for growing families.
  • Super Cruise Hands-Free Driving: On compatible highways, this semi-autonomous system allows for hands-free driving, adding convenience and reducing fatigue on long trips.
  • Multi-Function Tailgate & Bed Features: The power tailgate, built-in step, outlet, and bed lighting make everyday tasks—from groceries to sports gear—much easier to manage.
Car Mom Review

The Exterior

First Impressions: Rugged Meets Refined

At first glance, the Silverado High Country stays true to Chevy’s classic truck styling. It’s bold and rugged, with chrome detailing, LED headlights, and a strong, confident stance.

But here’s the thing—while the exterior is solid and familiar, the real magic happens inside.

No items found.

First Row

The Interior: Surprisingly Luxurious

The High Country trim feels way more premium than you might expect from a truck.

We’re talking:

  • Gorgeous navy leather seats (finally something other than black!)
  • Brown stitching and wood trim accents
  • A clean, high-end design that doesn’t sacrifice that “truck feel”

It strikes a really nice balance between durable and luxurious—which is exactly what families need.

Mom-Friendly Tech That Actually Helps

This truck is packed with features that genuinely make everyday driving easier:

Heads-Up Display

Projects speed, navigation, and calls directly onto the windshield—so your eyes stay on the road.

Super Cruise (Hands-Free Driving)

On compatible highways, this system allows hands-free driving using mapped roads and sensors. It’s not fully autonomous, but it’s pretty close—and incredibly helpful on long drives.

Infotainment System

  • Google built-in (Maps, Assistant, Play Store)
  • Apple CarPlay + Android Auto
  • Easy-to-use layout with physical buttons (huge win!)

Camera Views

Multiple angles, including bird’s-eye view and hitch view—perfect for parking or towing.

Storage: Mostly Great, A Few Misses

There’s a lot to love here:

  • Large center console with charging ports
  • Dedicated wireless charging spot
  • Multiple compartments for organizing “mom essentials”

But:

  • Door cup holders are small
  • The shifter takes up more space than necessary

Still, overall very functional.

Second Row

Back Seat Experience

For passengers (aka your kids), here’s what you get:

  • Heated outboard seats
  • USB + USB-C ports
  • Storage pockets

But one downside:

  • Tiny air vents—seriously, they’re small

If you live somewhere hot or have kids sensitive to temperature, this is worth noting.

Third Row

No items found.

Trunk

The Truck Bed & Tailgate: Actually Useful for Families

The tailgate is one of the coolest features:

  • Power release
  • Multi-function step access
  • Built-in outlet
  • Bed lighting and tie-downs

Whether it’s sports gear, strollers, or Costco hauls—this setup is incredibly practical.

Safety

Car Seat Setup

The Big Question: How Does It Handle Car Seats?

This is where the Silverado really shines.

Three Across? No Problem.

The second row is wide. And not just “technically fits”—we’re talking:

  • Three full car seats across comfortably
  • Plenty of legroom, even with rear-facing seats
  • Enough space for an adult to sit alongside car seats

This is a HUGE win.

What to Know:

  • Tether anchors can be tricky in trucks—always check your manual
  • Rear-facing seats don’t eat into front seat space as much as expected

Bottom line: this truck makes multi-kid setups surprisingly easy.

Don’t write off a truck as a mom car!! While this is my husband’s daily driver, we love taking it as a family - it is SO roomy. We have a Crew Cab. The second row leg room is phenomenal. Having an entire bed for stroller, groceries, etc. is great (we have a bed cover). We recently took it on a beach vacation and it was great to get sand in the bed of the truck versus SUV interior!

This is my husband’s new truck, but we have been using it as our family car since we purchased it over the summer! My husband is 6’5 and this is the first time we’ve been able to install our daughter’s rear facing car seat behind the drivers seat. I have a Subaru Forester and he cannot safely drive it with the car seat behind him, so this is huge for us. There is so much room in the back and you could definitely fit 3 car seats across no problem! Trucks are such underrated family cars and we love ours 💕

Truck handles really well, feels very safe and secure driving. Sensor system and the 360 camera is amazing for parking, especially when running errands in town. We have loved the full cab of our Silverado with our little one. Plenty of space for feeding, pumping, and changing baby on the go. The infotainment setup is very nice. The only thing to improve the interior would be if there was better ventilation in the second row.

We’ve had a great experience with this truck. We use it for towing and for my husband’s work vehicle. We’ve had one issue that was covered by the warranty. The only downside is the amount of air vents in the back seat, our kids get warm in the summer so we needed to add a fan.

My husband drives a 2025 Chevy Silverado and it has worked incredibly well for our family. We can easily fit three across in the full backseat and each child is comfortable. There is more than enough leg room in the back and excellent driver and passenger space up front. We’ve opted to taking his truck over my SUV on multiple trips because of the space each of us has while using the entire bed of the truck for luggage. We’re able to fit all we need and more! My only complaint is the lack of ceiling vents in the second row.

This isn't a test drive.. my dad owns this car. We have taken a road trip with it with all seats full and my son's Graco Slim car seat in the back. This pickup is super roomy! The interior is nice and the tech seems great. My entire family is quite tall and I know my dad enjoys it and feels like he has plenty of room even when the backseat is full.

We had a Silverado 1500 and it was honestly one of the best hidden gems as a family car. We could fit three kids across comfortably with plenty of room in the cab, and I loved that I could easily reach the kids from the front when they needed something. It was surprisingly practical with little kids, especially being able to just toss the stroller and all the other kid gear in the truck bed and go. So much space without feeling like you were driving a traditional “family car.”

This is my husband’s vehicle that we bought new. It fits 3 car seats easily, we have a crew cab so there’s plenty of room even with a rear facing seat. The cupholders in the back of the center console are so nice being used for either front or back seat riders. We haven’t had any major mechanical issues with this one after having an older model year with constant brake issues. The floppy buckles are difficult for new booster riders and the lack of lower anchors in the center seat are a little frustrating, but I just hate doing seatbelt installs and my kids are all very light so we haven’t run into lower anchors weight limit problems while they’ve been in harnessed seats. Overall very happy with this truck.

This is technically my husband’s truck, but I’ve spent a lot of time driving it and using it with our two kids. The back seat is one of the best things about it. It’s HUGE and we had plenty of room with one forward-facing car seat and one rear-facing car seat. Compared to smaller vehicles, getting car seats to fit comfortably was never really an issue. The interior overall is very spacious, the technology is good, and it feels surprisingly fancy inside for a truck. It’s also really fun to drive! It has plenty of power and I’ve enjoyed driving it, but personally, it’s not something I would want as my everyday mom vehicle. One of the biggest drawbacks for me is loading the kids because our truck has a lift, so getting them up into their car seats is definitely more work. The other thing I didn’t love was having to put the stroller and all of our cargo in the bed. We have a bed cover, so everything is protected, but I still prefer having a regular enclosed trunk where I can easily throw the stroller, groceries, bags, etc. and access everything quickly. Overall, the spacious back seat makes it surprisingly great for car seats and the interior is comfortable and upscale. It’s fun to drive and I totally understand why my husband loves it, but for everyday life with little kids, I personally prefer the convenience of an SUV or minivan. The lifted height and having to use the truck bed for all of our stuff are what keep it from being my ideal daily mom car.

Easy to fit three carseats across the backseat bench. Plenty of legroom for adult passengers in the backseat. The front row is spacious also and the tech is easy to use and functional. Appreciate the physical buttons and knobs for controls!

This truck is awesome! It's incredibly roomy inside. We have a high back booster, forward facing convertible seat, and rear facing convertible seat in the back seat with no issues at all. Figuring out the tether info for the forward facing seats was a bit tricky though. The front seats are incredibly comfortable. The infotainment center is huge. We so think the backup camera could have a wider view though.

We currently have a rear facing car seat and Diono booster installed. I love that an adult can fit in between the car seats. We have not tried to install 3 across. We have the bench in the front seat too so the truck can comfortably fit 6 people. We love the space in the cab, it’s a great family truck option

My husband’s truck fits our daughter’s car seat and our dog so comfortably! We got into a fender bender- got hit and pushed off the icy road into the snowy ditch, causing $14,000 of damage- and we were able to drive it home safely. Drove it from Alaska to Georgia in February and it handled well. It’s a comfortable ride- love how many cup holders there are everywhere, and they’re all functional, not tiny!

Technology is just average, nothing special. 2nd row is spacious, so good for car seats, but seats aren’t overly comfortable for adults/older kids who don’t use a car seat. Amenities are lacking: door cup holders don’t hold basic water bottles like owala or Stanley, second row with poor cup holder options.

This has been a great truck to us. Does all the “truck” things well. Fits our (tall) family well. However, I do wish Chevy would put ceiling vents in the rear of their trucks. Air flow is lacking for sure.

Crew cab is a must and a big improvement over the double cab. It’s spacious and we’ve used the back seat area so many times in cold weather to just hang out, have snacks, use the potty!

My husband drives this truck. Car seat wise, 3 across is amazing (all rear facing too). He has the 4 cylinder turbo and I don't love how it drives, almost feels weak. Great for gas mileage though! The passenger seat is also not the comfiest out there.

So this is actually a 2024 Silverado 2500. I used to own a Tahoe, but when my husband got a car from his company I took over the truck. I currently have 3 kids in the back (3 across). Two are froward facing and the baby is rear facing. There is a ton of room in the back for both my husband and I to sit comfortably in the front seat (he is 6’ I am 5’8”. The cons to the truck would have to be the air vents, they are at the center console and provide no air for the kids in the back, Espically my rear facing baby. For a long time when doing grocery pick up I could fit the groceries in the back with the kids just fine, but as kids got older we decided to get a truck bed cover and it has been the best investment. This truck is truly an amazing truck to drive. I love the power and being high up and feel so secure when driving this beast. This is such a unique situation for this to be my mom car, but if I can’t have my Suburban I would take this truck in a heartbeat.

This is my husbands truck that he drives. It has been very reliable to Him so far and very easy to install our sons graco slimfit LX3 or the graco extend 2 fit. My only complaint as a passenger is it’s very uncomfortable to ride in the backseat on long drives with my son. I also am not the biggest fan of the exterior.

This is my husband's truck. He has had a few issues with recalls and possible engine problems. So far his truck has been fine, but we worry about future reliablity. To be honest, I don't love the exterior of this vehicle. It's just kind of plain and I think there are better looking trucks on the road. The interior is great, though. We just took a 7 hour (each way) roadtrip, and I sat in the back between two car seats the entire time with room to spare. The power tailgate is kind of cool for getting things in and out, but honestly, probably not a must. It's a nice, quiet, spacious ride. I just wish the exterior had a little more going on.

We love this car, the interior is huge for families. I took off a half star for tech because the car play is finicky if both my husband and I have our phones in the car. The front row bench is an excellent option to make it 6 seats. Having an infant seat has no impact on front row leg room for us. It feels luxurious and is a smooth drive for a truck.

My husband had this as his work vehicle for a few years and it was amazing - we were able to fit two car seats comfortably on the bench seat. It's a great ride and we were happy with the truck while we had it!

We use this vehicle as a secondary vehicle or when we need to tow our boat, trailer, etc. The comfort level has exceeded my expectations and the back seat (crew cab) allows plenty of room for our 2 forward facing car seats. I feel we could comfortably do 3 across with the right car seat combo. There are plenty of cup holders for the driver and passenger, but door cup holders in the rear seats would have been nice! The center console has great storage space. Overall we love this vehicle and plan to keep for many years!

My husband has a 2017 Chevy Silverado 2500 that he uses for work and leisure. It's 4 door with plenty of room. We have been able to fit 3 across on the bench seat with little to no issues. We have fit a Chicco Keyfit30 infant seat, an evenflo revolve360 SLIM & a FF graco slim comfortably. Its a nice ride for the kids. Plenty of leg room for both driver & second row!

My husband is the daily driver of the truck, but it is honestly so family friendly! The 2nd row is as roomy as the 1st, and there is plenty of room for our 3 children in car seats. We have 3-year-old twins in EvenFlo Revolve 360s FF, and a newborn in a Nuna Pipa Lite. The EvenFlos cannot be rotated when the infant seat base is installed but with all of the leg room the 2nd row has to offer, the 3-year-olds are easily able to climb into their seats and be buckled!
