My MIL has this vehicle and has taken my kids multiple times for us to different things. My husband was able to install our EvenFlo Revolve 360 with no issues at all in her second row. My daughter had a great comfortable ride with ample legspace. The tech in this car is amazing, and as a passenger I love riding along in this car.

LOVE this car. It’s super comfortable and easy to drive. Good technology (love my Apple CarPlay) and safety features. BMW has a great warranty and covers basic services for 3 years. I purchased an extended service package for 3 more years and after 5 years of owning this car, just had my first larger repair on it- the coolant container had a small crack in it. My two boys, husband, and I fit comfortably in the car if I am driving (5’ 6”). With the size of our 3 year old’s car seat (Nuna Rava) and infant seat (Nuna Pipa Lite LX), my husband’s legs are too long to comfortably drive the car (6’). I do wish I had gotten the x5 for a little bit more room, however, once my kids are in booster seats, we will fit even more comfortably. Our single stroller (Nuna Triv) fits easily in the trunk with room for more. Our double stroller (Nuna Trvl dubl) pretty much takes up the entire trunk, so I’m sure not to bring it on Costco/Sam’s Club trips. Although the air vents in the back aren’t on the side or ceiling, the car is small enough that it cools down quickly with the air on high. It’s overall a great car and one I would recommend if you’re not overly concerned about pricier gas and servicing. It’s been extremely reliable and is fun to drive!

Jack of all trades. The X3 is the master of compromise – able to fit a family, good driving dynamics, decent cargo space. Our X3 serves as the secondary vehicle to our main family hauler. Its greatest traits are its BMW driving DNA. Being a crossover, it’s not as laser focused as a smaller sports sedan like the 3 series, but changing life circumstances don’t have to mean you can’t have fun while carrying a load of car seats in back. Speaking of car seats. I’m 6’5” and I was successfully able to fit a 3-across setup with two front-facing and one rear facing seat and still fit comfortably. I would not advise putting rear facing seats behind either front seat unless nobody is sitting there. Cargo space is sufficient to fit a stroller or a very ambitious trip to Costco – but not both at the same time. We’ve used the X3 to do a 2-week road trip with clothes and gear for 5 people without any issues. We have owned our X3 since new and four years later have had had zero mechanical issues. I highly recommend this as ‘the other option’ that’s practical enough to take the family but prioritizes fun as much as possible. I mean, just because you’re a parent doesn’t mean you have to drive a boring car now, right?

For two small kids, this is the perfect vehicle with ample storage. But we will eventually outgrow it. When my husband is riding with us as a family of four it feels cramped, but when I am shuffling the kids around during the week it is just what we need!

This is such an excellent car to grow in. As an aspiring mom in the future, I wanted an SUV to grow into, and can confirm I've been able to use this car well for my nephew's car seat (he's 8 months old currently), while LOVING the car's performance and technology. I named him after Bucky Barnes the Winter Soldier for a reason. He combines the practical all wheel drive and ultimate driving machine performance with my dream red color and overall design. I have never once regretted this car purchase, and would recommend to anyone! I can't wait to see the places this car takes me in the future.

I love everything about this car, but it is not a great “mom car”. The back seat is very tight with two car seats and there is zero chance of fitting a third car seat. The front seats cannot go back all the way with the car seats rear facing. The trunk hardly fits a stroller, let alone anything else with a stroller. There are no overhead vents so the back seat ventilation is terrible. I will have to trade it in when I welcome my third soon.

Rented this car for a week in Salt Lake City, UT in September. It drives great, but I didn’t like the giant screen. The format was hard to get use to quickly. The infotainment was difficult to navigate and not very user friendly. Not sure if it’s because it was a rental or I’m just not as tech savvy as I thought.

For performance only, love it! Two adult passengers in the back would be fine, but rear facing infant seat is tight. Cargo room is good for a family of 2-3. Would have to upgrade to something bigger. We have the X4, but similar size to the X3.

I drove a BMW X3 for 2 weeks while my car was in the shop. I was excited to have something large enough for my family. The X3 drove smoothly and had great technology. The features were luxurious and it was great to drive while I had it in my possession. The trunk was plenty big for sports chairs and bags. The second row was tight for my 3 larger children but it is rare we are all in the car at one time.

Sporty car with all the bells and whistles that is so fun to drive! Great heads up display! We don’t have kids but the backseat does look small and I’m not sure what car seats would fit with tall drivers. Great trunk space and I really like the cover.

I love this car for my husband and I so much but we have 3 kids, 7 and under, so it is not ideal for us to ride as a family in. We have only ever been able to fit 2 forward facing car seats in it. However, this is not our primary family car so it isn’t that big of a deal to us. It does have decent trunk space given the size of the car. We have the m40i so the drive is super sporty and smooth and the infotainment system is easy to navigate. I love this car so much I just don’t think I would choose it again for a larger family with young kids.

Very comfortable car but the backseat is not ideal for a rear facing car seat. We got a Graco slim fit car seat and my knees still had to be touching the dashboard with the RF car seat. I am 5’5. Also, sitting in the backseat with the car seat on the passenger was not comfortable either.

We owned this BMW before having children (ours is a 2017), and while it still gets the job done, it is definitely not rear facing car seat friendly. We currently have one rear facing and one forward facing child, and while both fit in a pinch, this is certainly not our main family vehicle. We typically only take one child in it when necessary. If both kids were forward facing, it would be a different story, but for our current season of life, it is not ideal. Otherwise, the technology is fine for a 2017 model. Ours is fairly base model as far as BMWs go, but it has performed well and has been a reliable car for us.

2016 BMW X3 (website will only let me select 2024 model year). Large convenient trunk space that can fit a lot from Costco and a larger stroller. Rear seats have a comfortable amount of room and fit larger carseats with no problems. Center console is smaller, but fits what I need it to. No ceiling vents and technology is not great, which are cons. Overall, this car has been very reliable and a great car for 0-2 kids. Dog can ride in the trunk for short trips when I need to travel somewhere with two children, the dog, and my husband.

The ride was smooth and the interior had a nice finish. The trunk and second row spaces seemed too tight for a car seat, stroller, and other family needs.
