2022 Tesla Model Y

We have a Tesla Model 3 and there are definitely things I love about it, but with two kids in car seats there are also some drawbacks. The technology is probably my favorite part. It really does feel like driving a giant computer, and once you get used to everything being controlled through the screen, it’s pretty fun. Not having to buy gas is also a HUGE plus. And it’s FAST! 😂 It has way more power than you expect and is genuinely fun to drive. For a small car, the storage is actually pretty impressive. We have a single Chicco Bravo stroller and it fits in the trunk with room for other things. There’s also a hidden lower storage compartment in the trunk that holds quite a bit, plus the frunk gives you even more storage. The biggest downside for me as a mom is definitely the back seat. It’s small, especially once you start adding car seats. We’ve had a forward-facing Britax Poplar and a rear-facing Britax Boulevard back there, and it can get tight. We recently bought another Poplar, which helps since it’s a slimmer seat, but this definitely wouldn’t be my first choice if I needed tons of car-seat space. Another thing parents should know is that the rear headrests are not removable, which can affect the fit of certain forward-facing car seats, so I would definitely check your specific car seat before buying. Overall, I really like the Model 3. The technology, speed, storage and never having to stop for gas are awesome. It’s a really fun car and a great computer on wheels. 😂 But if you have multiple kids in car seats, especially rear-facing, I would absolutely test your car seats in it first because the back seat is where you’re going to feel the smaller size.

Beautiful car. Comfortable first and second row. Tight third row and little truck space. Good for 2-3 kids

Not the most family friendly car but it works well for one child and a dog. There are no upper air vents and that combo with a glass roof in Texas and rear facing toddler makes for a sweaty kiddo. I do wish there was an option to “tent” the ceiling if you liked during use similar to a sunshade on most moonroofs. However the handling of the vehicle is great! My husband loves the technology, that is what really sold him on this car. We are able to comfortably fit our Cybex Callisto 360. We used to have a Nuna rava rear facing but it was really difficult to get our toddler in and out of with the height of the car/car seat combo so i wouldn’t recommend that combination. Our son and my husband loves the Grok feature for trivia. This is definitely more of a car for families who want a tech forward vehicle and only have 1 car seat in my opinion. It is not our “family” car but will certainly be getting another one when our lease is up for my husband.

This is my husband’s primary vehicle/commuter car. I love the overall drive of it, but the second row car seat situation leaves a lot to be desired. For 1-2 kids it’s fine, but adding a third really limits options once they get to booster age. It has been wonderful for the 60k miles he has put on it in almost 3 years though from a reliability, minimal maintenance, and ease of charging at home. The white interior is surprisingly easy to clean and has no staining so far. The frunk/trunk/subtrunk can hold an impressive amount of cargo as well. Overall we would purchase again for my husband’s driving needs, but wouldn’t consider as a primary family car unless you are 100% done with two kids.

All moms should test drive a Tesla with FSD (full self driving). The safety is completely unmatched. See ya never distracted driving, let the car take you and your kids safely everywhere you need to go. Secondly to safety, it’s got ALL the tech, all the comfort features. Incredible.

We bought this car a couple of months before our first baby was born and I have been so happy with it! Comfortably fits an infant car seat (and a dog!) in the back seat! The ride is smooth and keeps both baby and dog calm. We’re often playing purple monkey or white noise and the sound is excellent. I feel better knowing I’m not putting baby straight into a hot car in this heat with overheat protection and the ability to start the car from our phones.

Used this with 2 girls in Diono slim fit car seats on the ends and a backless booster in the middle. It was a tight fit, but it did work for us. It is just so fun to drive and has really great storage, especially for road trips. Highly recommend.
