Features We Love

Note: Between 2020 and 2023, the Santa Fe was strictly a two-row vehicle, with the three-row option replaced by the Hyundai

  • Family-Friendly Tech That Actually Makes Life Easier: Features like Quiet Mode and Passenger Talk that make everyday driving with kids so much easier. It’s the kind of tech you’ll actually use daily.
  • Premium Interior at a Non-Luxury Price: The interior feels surprisingly premium for the price, with beautiful materials, a Harman Kardon sound system, and a panoramic sunroof. It truly feels more expensive than it is.
  • Strong Value for the Price: The Santa Fe delivers incredible value for the price, packing in safety features, comfort, and design all under $40K. It’s a well-rounded SUV that checks a lot of boxes for families.
Car Mom Review

The Exterior

First Impressions: A Mini Palisade with Major Style

The Santa Fe Calligraphy is beautiful.

Hyundai absolutely nailed the exterior with:

  • A cascading chrome grille that feels elevated but not over-the-top
  • Stunning LED daytime running lights
  • Clean, cohesive body lines

From the side, it gives serious mini Palisade energy, which is a huge compliment. You’re getting that same upscale look—just in a smaller, more affordable package.

First Row

Interior: Premium Feel Without the Premium Price

This is where Hyundai really shines.

Inside the Santa Fe, you get:

  • High-quality materials throughout
  • Contrast stitching and thoughtful design details
  • Harman Kardon sound system (huge win at this price point)
  • A panoramic sunroof that brings in great natural light

The center console has that “bridge” design, which gives it a slightly elevated, cockpit-like feel—almost like a minivan layout, but still very much an SUV.

There’s also a dedicated phone slot with wireless charging, which I love—not just for convenience, but for safety. Having a place to secure your phone matters.

‍

Technology & Family-Friendly Features

The Santa Fe is packed with smart features that make everyday mom life easier:

  • Apple CarPlay
  • Digital driver display with customizable themes
  • Quiet Mode (lowers volume in the second row for sleeping kids 🙌)
  • Passenger Talk (projects your voice to the back seats—no more yelling)

These are the kinds of features that seem small until you’re using them every single day.

‍

‍

Second Row

Second Row + Car Seat Reality

This is where things get interesting.

Can you do 3-across?

Yes… but it’s tricky.

I was able to get a 3-across setup, but:

  • It required very specific car seats
  • It required advanced installation techniques
  • It will NOT work with every combination

For most families:

  • Great for 1–2 car seats
  • Possible for 3-across with the right setup
  • Not beginner-friendly for 3-across installs

Legroom and headroom are excellent, and it’s comfortable for both kids and adults.

Third Row

No items found.

Trunk

Cargo Space: A Total Win

Since Hyundai removed the third row, you get seriously impressive trunk space.

  • Easily fits a double stroller with room to spare
  • Tons of underfloor storage
  • Multiple compartments for organization
  • Hands-free power liftgate

Car Mom take:
This is a 10/10 trunk for a two-row SUV.

Safety

One thing I really appreciate—Hyundai includes advanced safety features as standard.

You’re getting:

  • Automatic emergency braking
  • Blind spot monitoring
  • Rear cross-traffic braking
  • Lane keeping assist

Plus, the Santa Fe is an IIHS Top Safety Pick+, which is the highest rating possible.

‍

Car Seat Setup

Car Seat Fit:

  • Great for 1–2 car seats
  • Tight for 3-across setups
  • Not ideal if you need a person sitting between two car seats

Rear-facing and forward-facing seats both fit well, and headrests are removable, which helps with installs.

This car has an excellent trunk. I can fit everything in there and it's the main reason why I don't want to give it up. The second row is comfortable. I have two rotating car seats in it. With that, the middle seat is very narrow, but my 10lb dog can fit in between. The car drives very well. I like the buttons for the controls. Never had an issue with the car. It likely is small for 3 kids, but works so well for 2. Can fit double stroller and bags well in the trunk or an entire Costco run without a problem. I love this car and the only reason I'd trade up is if I have 3 kids + dog and need more space since there is no third row in the back.

Even after unlocking the car if you wait too long the back doors and trunk lock. Frustrating when I have a stroller in hand to put back there and it locks.

The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe offers perks like hard front seat backs, which can be helpful with small children and dirty feet. The second row does not feel cramped and there is ample trunk space. The interior on the XRT was nice for fabric. We did experience a mechanical issue that left us unexpectedly stranded just a few weeks after a normal, routine service where everything had looked great.

We bought this car as our secondary car (with 4 kids a minivan is our primary), and we've been surprised how useable it is even with 4 kids. I love being able to fit everyone, but still get great gas mileage and not feel like we're driving a huge car all the time. We have even taken it on some longer trips! Of course it is not quite as easy to get in and out as the minivan, but the 3rd row is spacious and my big kids are happy to ride back there. Overall we are pleasantly surprised with how useable it is even for a large family. One note, our kids are old enough that we don't need strollers daily anymore or it wouldn't work, but just for sports and groceries, the trunk space has worked for us.

We absolutely love this car for our small family! As a working mom who commutes into an urban area, I wanted something that gave us the space and flexibility of a family-sized SUV while still being practical for my everyday commute. The hybrid has been a huge plus for us. The gas mileage is great for a vehicle this size, especially with my daily commuting, and it makes a noticeable difference in how often we have to stop for gas. I love that I can have the space and functionality of a larger family SUV without feeling like I'm driving a huge vehicle every day. The Santa Fe is easy to maneuver, and I can squeeze her into tight parking spaces, but she's also comfortable and spacious enough for long road trips with the family. We love having the third row when we need it, even though the trunk space is limited with the third row up. We have a cargo carrier for longer trips, which solves that problem for us. Overall, the Santa Fe has been a fantastic balance of family functionality, everyday practicality, and fuel efficiency. It's a great fit for our lifestyle, and we've been very happy with it!

We bought this car after my 2021 VW Tiguan started having ongoing oil issues. I LOVED my Tiguan and absolutely did not want to buy a new car, but we felt like we had to. It was becoming a money pit. Our #1 thing was warranty bc of the VW issues. And wow does Hyundai have an amazing 100,000 mile power train and bumper to bumper warranty!! I wanted something with similar second-row legroom and width, but I struggled to find a 2-row SUV comparable in size. We eventually started looking at 3-row SUVs around $50k and landed on the 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy. (Over budget a bit…..) Overall, I LOVE this car! I love how easy the third row is to put up and down. With it up, the trunk isn’t great compared to my Tiguan, but we can fit our Summer travel stroller, a diaper bag and some groceries or small bags. The cup holders are amazing — 4 in the third row, 3 in the second row and plenty up front. There are also tons of outlets: 2 up front, one for each second-row side and even some in the third row. The wireless charging area is honestly more useful for my keys and sunglasses than charging my phone. The front cubby is great for easy-access items, and the center console is huge. I also love that part of it slides out for the second row to use. The hard seat backs are easy to clean, which I love with a toddler, but they’re not my favorite when trying to grab something with one hand. The touchscreen has more controls than I wanted, but I’ve gotten used to it. The Calligraphy has heated/cooled seats, a heated steering wheel, sunshades, 2 sunroofs, and my favorite wheels. The suede ceiling is unnecessary but fun! The gear selector took a few days to get used to, too. I really wanted a hybrid too if we could swing it and I am so happy we did. I get 35mpg around Kansas City. It doesn’t have great power when in hybrid mode, but that’s not what I am looking for in a car. We went a little over budget, but we knew we’d regret downsizing. Since we want another baby, having plenty of second-row space was really important. Did I want to buy a new car? No. Am I really happy we bought the Santa Fe? Absolutely.

This car has so much tech for the price. The push button gear changing is so cute. I feel like there is so much that comes standard in this car that you would pay extra for in others. One downfall is the second row middle seat does not leave space for a passenger seat with car seats in. The trunk space is amazing though! It fits our wagon and double stroller, no problem!

I LOVE this car!! It is so comfortable, the seats are large enough for my 6'-2" husband. Our model has heat warmers and air conditioned seats which is so nice and fun in the summer hot months. I have one in a booster and one in a forward facing car seat, they both have plenty of leg room. For long road trips I will often ride in the middle row, middle seat between them, I'm 5'-5" and while it's not super comfortable, it's not uncomfortable. The third row is SUPER spacious. I love riding back there. Two seats give tons of room. My only con is the log-in screen sometimes get's stuck on my husbands profile - no idea what's going on, and I can't switch to my account which then has my saved seat. I love this car and recommend it all the time!

Love this car; my biggest gripe is the paint peeling, hence me being in the market for something newer. Hard to decide what to get as I find it incredibly roomy as I have the third row and captains chairs (for a car seat this is ideal for me). I do not want a new Hyundai Santa Fe as I do not like the new body style, but this older model I find luxe

The back row is spacious, and we have loved having that optional third row. We crammed 7 people in for a 15 hour road trip once and made it through. Love the heated seats and the tech has worked flawlessly throughout our whole ownership. We recently started having trouble with the transmission lurching and the A/C going out...right around 130k miles. My recommendation would be stay on top of transmission flushes, as it gets older. Overall, it's been an amazing family car with zero issues from the 55k miles that we bought it at until 125k miles, and I think it's because we needed to pay more attention to the service schedule. Currently on the search for a new car and having a hard time beating the deal we got on this one for the amount for the amount of space and features that came with it.

After owning 2 previous Santa Fe’s I have to say that although the interior has some great upgrades, particularly for families, the performance is not the best. Car tends to go back slight light if on an incline without Auto Hold on. Makes it feel a bit like a standard car, even when it’s not. Acceleration could also be better. Other than that, the center console is great, door cup holders on second row are a plus. Also having an option for a third row is great and when down we have amazing trunk space.

Really happy with my Santa Fe! Purchased after we were in a total loss accident while pregnant with our second, so it was a prime opportunity to consider my mom car for the coming years with two young kids. The 2025 hybrid Santa Fe was among the top ranked options by Consumer Reports, and I do agree with their scoring now as a user myself. Very utilitarian exterior with a comfortable and luxe feeling interior. Love the massive curved display! Hybrid driving is AWESOME for our daily life. The separate driving profiles are so clutch to personalize preferences between my husband and I, since we often split who does the driving. Lots of good mom features (thoughtful storage spots, cup holders nicely sized, doors open up nearly 90 degrees) and tonssss of incorporated safety features. My biggest cons are the look of the back end (just feels hefty) and some tech aspects (UV-C sterilizer feels gimmicky, inconsistent seat position memory). Notably there are many touch controls vs. knobs or buttons, but I haven’t been bothered by this throughout my use. I think it’s important to remember the standard Santa Fe was previously a 2-row vehicle prior to the 2024 redesign. For that reason, I’d recommend this car for families who typically only use seats in the first 2 rows, but like the flexibility and option of the third row for occasional use. With car seats installed on the exterior seats, you really don’t have a way to access the third row besides going through the trunk. We have two rear facing car seats and my husband and I are of average height. We are all very comfortable! Plenty of cargo space with the third row down, not very much when it’s up. If I would need to replace my Santa Fe, I would confidently consider another one! Great experience so far and hoping for many more years and miles together.

Great, reliable. Interior is not very easy to clean in all the crevices. Does burn oil quickly.

I've owned my 2021 Santa Fe Limited for a while now, and it's honestly one of the best vehicles I've ever driven. The interior feels genuinely upscale — leather seating, a clean dashboard layout, and a build quality that punches well above its price point. It doesn't feel like a "budget luxury" SUV; it feels like a luxury SUV, period. The panoramic sunroof is a huge bonus too — it makes the cabin feel so much brighter and more open, especially on longer drives. The turbocharged engine has plenty of pep for merging, passing, and hauling the family around, while still delivering solid fuel economy. The ride is smooth and quiet, even at highway speeds, and the adaptive cruise control and lane-centering tech make long road trips remarkably stress-free. I'm honestly obsessed with the safety tech on this thing. The blind spot view monitor — which shows a live camera feed of your blind spot right in the instrument cluster when you signal — is a game changer, and paired with the blind spot collision warning, I feel so much more confident changing lanes and navigating traffic. It's the kind of feature that makes you wonder how you ever drove without it. Storage and cargo space are excellent — there's room for groceries, luggage, and gear without any Tetris-level packing skills required. The digital instrument cluster and surround-view camera add a nice modern touch, and the heated/ventilated front seats have been a lifesaver in both summer and winter. If you're looking for a midsize SUV that blends comfort, tech, and style without the luxury-brand price tag, the Santa Fe Limited delivers in a big way. Highly recommend to anyone cross-shopping this segment!

2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid Some people don’t know that hybrid is not a plug in. If you didn’t, now you do :) Gas Mileage - PHENOMENAL I am 5’2” and do majority of the driving because I get carsick and I have the kids with me all the time. My husband is 6’5”.. my five-year-old Forward facing daughter sits behind the drivers seat. The rear facing car seat is behind the passenger, and he can fit relatively comfortably as far back as he can go. He says he’s fine for a long road trip. I don’t know how sustainable his seating comfort would be. He fits relatively comfy in 3rd row. No car seat tilt, when we have a booster in the third row, I have that kid entered through the tailgate and it’s honestly not that bad. They think it’s fun. I can fit five kids in the in either car seats/boosters/bubble or full butt on seat. We have done a rear facing in the 3rd row before - it’s tricky but doable. I have owned this car for almost a year and overall we really love it. It was a great way to get a three row vehicle without paying an arm and a leg. We have the base model, so there are no third row, air vents, the wireless charging pads for your phone upfront are there regardless of whether you have the package or not, it just doesn’t work if you don’t have the package. A huge selling point: warranty & the app for remote start, cooling and heating; access to this is however long you have the car. We were considering an Atlas, which was my dream car… But I could not justify that you only get the from Phone features for only five years, and then you have to pay after that. Gas mileage was kinda garbage and the Warranty length was half the time. Mind you - we were trying to get the most bang for our buck long term as well. When the third row is down, great trunk space. When it is up, we can strategically fit a double travel stroller in the space and get the door closed. I’m talking borderline umbrella, style stroller, nothing fancy. Solid car, you make it work!

I purchased this car new in 2014 and owned it until we purchased our 2025 Acadia (purchased May 2025). We had three row version with a bench seat in the second row. The bench seat was great and the second row leg room was amazing!! With my kids ages, we were able to fit three across in the second row, so didn't utilize the third row with a car seat too often, but when we did, we made it work fairly good. Third row leg room was okay, definitely better than some, but more suited for children, not adults (although I did sit back there a few times). Space behind third row up was decent for a suv of this size. Since we used the second row bench, we always had the third row down and has so much cargo space!! When we traded it in, we had over 215K miles on it - we only had regular wear and tear repairs on it - AC repairs a couple times (mostly hose/lines) and replaced the alternator once. Other than that, we had zero engine/transmission issues. It was a great started family car for us!

Overall, amazing for one baby (now a 4 year old) and a dog. I own a design business so it’s got enough space to schlep things around too. It’s comfortable, has amazing features, and has really worked for us so far. The only problem we’ve ever had is the moon roof randomly exploding on us (luckily my husband was driving in the car by himself and the visor part was closed so the glass just sat on top of that). We looked and found this is somewhat common for these cars?! Insurance covered the fix and it was definitely scary but outside of that we’ve never had an issue.

The santa fe is a great car for smaller families! I have a 6 year old and 2 dogs so I keep the 3rd row down and the dogs have lots of space in the back, but I love having the option to use the 3rd row when we go somewhere with friends. The light gray interior is more white looking than gray and I love it. I find it very sharp looking. I have the hybrid SEL so it's great on gas but doesn't come with every upgrade. I don't mind though, I'm happy as long as I have my heated seats! I have the bench which I recommend with dogs because it serves as a divider which keeps them in the back. I did buy all-weather mats on Amazon because it came with very basic floor mats. I'm hoping this car lasts me many years!

This car has been so good to us (and we got it pre-owned)! It fits three across (britax infant seat, diono radian in the middle, and britax boulevard clicktight). And the trunk is very spacious. We don’t have a third row, so are in the process of getting something bigger for baby number four, but this car is fabulous and a great deal. It also has some luxury features like heated and ventilated seats and heated steering wheel and panoramic moonroof.

I absolutely love my Santa Fe! I own the Calligraphy Hybrid and I love the features and gas mileage! Both my kids are in car seats (one still rear facing) and it’s an excellent set up in the captains seats! Tons of room for our whole family and the optional third row is great for whenever we have extra kids. We recently took the car on a 12-hour road trip and averaged 33mpg! The style, comfort and gas mileage were all a huge benefit for us when upgrading our car this year!

I love my Hyundai Santa Fe for the technology and space. There is not a better 5 passenger SUV on the market in my opinion. The tech is great, cameras at several angles and the overhead car display makes parking a breeze. I am obsessed with the auto hold feature as well. We have not had any issues with the car, super reliable. Routine service is all we have had to do. I highly recommend!

I love my Santa Fe hybrid. It's great for two kids and occasional 3rd row use for picking up a friends kid or taking my parents out to dinner with us. I have captain seats with my car seats right now, but I have sat in them and can confirm they are very comfortable. There is a lot of leg room in the second row and I love that I can move my passenger seat up without exiting the car to allow my daughter to get out easily for car line. We did go with the highest trim because we only have one car and the technology has been great. Trunk space is great with the 3rd row down, but tight with it up. If it's up I can really only fit my travel stroller and a tote or two.

I have the hybrid with bucket seats. Three kids in car seats so one is in the third row. Only thing I don’t like about the car is it’s hard to buckle him. Otherwise it’s great! This week someone in a parking lot stopped to tell me the inside of the car was beautiful (and it was not clean so that means it really was!)

After driving my new 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid, I can honestly say I'm impressed. The sleek, modern design immediately caught my eye, and it stands out on the road without being over-the-top. The interior is spacious, comfortable, and packed with technology that makes every drive more enjoyable. The ride is smooth and quiet, and the hybrid system delivers excellent fuel economy compared to my previous SUV. I also love the added cargo space and practical features that make everyday life easier. Overall, Hyundai did a great job balancing style, comfort, efficiency, and functionality. So far, I couldn't be happier with my choice and I'm looking forward to many miles ahead in my Santa Fe.

We bought this car before having our first child, and it has been a total rockstar with two kids in the second row. An adult can't comfortably fit between the two carseats, but that might be us just having wide seats. My kids are big fans of the panoramic moonroof. It lets in so much light and acts as a good distraction. The trunk is a MAJOR highlight. It's so big AND it has hidden compartments under the floorboards for keeping things cool in transit. I love love the space in the trunk. Things I would like to have different in the car: vents in the second row. It's hot in Texas, and my kids when rear facing get so sweaty. I'd also love wireless Carplay. I use a cord, and it's fine. The wireless charger doesn't generally work with my phone case, so the cord keeps things charged. Car issues: The gas door got stuck and had to be fixed at the dealership, who admitted they knew it was an issue but Hyundai never put out a recall. Now, the rear camera is getting glitchy, so hoping that doesn't go out soon.

I upgraded from the previous Santa Fe model to this one. We rarely use the 3rd row but love having it available if needed. And I can put a stroller (Britax jogger) in the trunk with third row. Love the air vent placement in the back. Biggest issue is they took away the ability to have built in window shades unless you have the highest trim level so that is a huge fail for me. Otherwise, love it!

I think the Hyundai Sante Fe is the perfect car for 1-2 kids. My husband is 6'4 and I am 6'0 with two tall kiddos in car seats. We have plenty of room and cargo space galore. I love the truck space and the simplicity of lowering the bench to extend the trunk. Having a vehicle with physical buttons was important to me and I love the tech/infotainment system. It's been a great car for our family and I think it would be great for any mom with 1-2 kiddos.

Overall, I love my '21 Santa Fe! It's roomy, has an awesome moonroof, and plenty of trunk space. I bought it when my first child was only about 1 year old and it's been a great vehicle even with the addition of another child. While I only have 2 kids, I'm a CPST and have tested out several 3-across set-ups with narrow seats and was able to get 3 across in a few configurations. I'm petite (5'2") and the driver's seat is comfortable and very adjustable. The backup camera view is excellent - wide angle and clear picture with cross-traffic sensing, making it easy to see obstacles (and approaching traffic!) behind you. The touchscreen is smaller (and I did have issues with the screen intermittently blacking out a couple of years ago) but I don't mind. I love the that the driver's console is mostly physical buttons instead of tapping through endless touchscreen menus. It makes it easier (and safer!) to adjust fans, heat, etc. while driving. There's also a nice place to tuck your purse under the center console! If it's a bigger purse, it can be a little annoying to get it in/out, but it's nice to have a storage space that's not the floor. The backseat feels roomy and comes with sunshades, which is such a nice luxury-feeling addition to this vehicle. I've been able to fit rear facing car seats behind both myself and my husband (5'10") fairly easily. I do tend to buy more compact rear facing seats, which helps in this mid-size SUV. The head restraints on the vehicle seats are removable, which makes using forward facing car seats easier since the head restraint can be removed if it interferes with installing the car seat.

I fell in love with exterior of this car because it so reminiscent of the Range Rover the back end I could do without, but I loved the front and it was so different than everything on the market. The inside technology absolutely intrigued me and I was excited to get to use it. Unfortunately, I feel like it was maybe a little premature and some of the features I don’t think work as well as they should and are more annoying than they are helpful. The middle seat is very spacious and great for travel with my kids. The backseat is tight, which is fine with us because we prefer to have a smaller SUV and just use it when needed. The trunk space is disappointing when the third row is up, but we also knew that going into it.

Our family has the calligraphy trim of the Santa Fe. We are of 2 young girls, and the technology and safety features are incredible. When we got this vehicle, our car insurance dropped due to the safety features. It is comfortable, sleek and roomy for our family. People have mistaken our forest green Santa Fe for a Range Rover many times. We do have the captain chairs, and they work well for our family. Love the trunk space; I can fit a bike, toddler “car”, and the uppababy vista stroller easily (with 3rd row down). I do appreciate the features of the calligraphy trim; heated and A/C front row seats and heated steering wheel are necessary during the NE winters. The performance is great for a Santa Fe and I appreciate the different driving modes. The second row is roomy, even for my 6 ft husband. Third row is tight, I can fit comfortably at 5’4, but taller than that is cramped. I appreciate that there are only 2 seats in the third row. The latch system is easily identifiable in both the 2nd and 3rd row, and I’ve had my daughter in her diono booster comfortably in the third row. Love the two sunroofs, the pull out “cabinet” for extra items in the 2nd row, many cup holders (deep - can hold a Hydroflask!), the easily located child lock button, and the built in sun shades in the 2nd row. I feel as though this vehicle was made with kids in mind. This is my first time in a Hyundai, and so far loving it. Overall, a wonderful mid sized SUV family car.

I am obsessed with my Santa Fe! The interior is so stylish, modern and comfortable. The drive is so smooth and you don't feel like you're driving such a big car. The 360 camera is so clear and makes parking so easy. It seats my kids comfortably and has a ton of trunk space. I do wish I had opted for the highest class to get the captain seats since the middle seat is rendered useless with two car seats in anyways. My only grievance with the car are super minor things that are technology/system related. Little things like the drivers seat doesn't always go back into position automatically like its supposed to, the wireless charger barely works and overheats the phone, and I sometimes have connectivity issues where it disconnects from my CarPlay and I have to remove my phone and reconnect. Other than that, I am truly obsessed!

It's a very reliable car which is exactly what I needed when my 2nd was on her way! Does it fit our family of 4? Of course! But you do sacrifice either your third row or your trunk. You can not utilize both at the same time unfortunately!

I generally love my car! The only complaint I have is about the center console/control center setup. I wish I had somewhere I could put small items like a wristlet without having to put it in the storage gap underneath the cup holders. The wireless charger is also useless, because you have to plug in your phone to use apple carplay, so it is always charging anyway. The wireless charger also does not work with my phone when I have a phone case on (maybe its a compatibility issue, I have an iphone 14). I have not had any problems with the vehicle besides one small issue with a door not automatically locking, but it was covered under warranty. I would recommend it!

The interface for controls is a huge negative for the car. It is laggy, it glitches, it isn’t user friendly. The cup holders for the driver are also terrible. Too small, not enough and shallow, easy to knock drinks over. The wireless charging never works, it makes the phone too hot. Overall drives very well & comfortable. I would not buy again

We have the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid & love it. We got the calligraphy and enjoy the dual charging stations, wireless Apple car play, the second sun roof for the kids, and the calf rest. We love all the space the car offers and love the captains chairs. This makes for easy access to the back especially during long car rides. Only downfall of this car is that there are no ceiling vents for the second row passengers, so it can get a little hot for my toddler who faces the rear of the car. We also love the window shades as well. The car gets great gas mileage. It drives very smooth and we love that we can have different profiles for each driver and choose our preferred colors for the lights (ex I have pink and my husbands is green) the kids love that too. Much more spacious that you would think.

So far we love it. I will say - the carseat latches were VERY difficult to get with latched with our Cybex. The angle just was a little wonky.

This was my pre-mom car, but I could definitely see myself still driving it even with a child now. I LOVED this car! So much fun to drive, loved the auto-hold feature, ample storage space, and comfy interior. I cannot recommend this car enough!! If I didn't put so many miles on my vehicles in such a short amount of time, I'd still own it! I talk about how I miss this car all time!!

Bumpy ride for backseat passengers. Wish it had more oomph to get on the highways. Has some quirks with the logic. Can’t lock car from the door and then use remote start. You must subscribe to Hyundai to use the remote start.

Self-charging Hybrid with second row bench. This car gives us a lot of flexibility with 3 kids (1 in front facing carseat and two teens). In our day to day we keep the 3rd row down and 1 car seat permanently installed. We don't often go places as a family of 5 but when we do we have the option to take 1 vehicle. Either the kids can suck it up a squish for a short drive or I can put up one seat in the third row. My kids are tall but have enough room in the third row. There is also vents and charging plugs in the third row. I drive the self charging hybrid version which is great for in-town driving but doesn't make much of a difference on the highway. I LOVE the adaptive cruise control. I can never go back! My only complaint in the rigid seat belt buckle and buried seat anchors. If I had to do multiple car seats it would drive me crazy. Over all I'd recommend.

Bought this car new in 2017 before having kids. This car has done two cross country road trips with no issues either way. It’s been in climates of snow and deep freeze with no issues. After having kids I have successfully installed the uppababy mesa car seat and currently have two diono car seats. One forward facing and one rear facing. The car has also had our travel Cosco seats in it with no problem. The middle seat is more squished with two car seats on the side but my niece was able to squeeze her booster between the dionos and safely ride in the middle.

I've owned a Santa Fe Hybrid Limited for 2 years now. We have driven it cross country, stuffed it with 2 kids and 2 dogs, lots of suitcases and it still did good on gas mileage. I have not experienced any mechanical problems nor electrical. I would recommend this car to a family who has no more than 2 kids in car seats or 2+ if kids are not in a car seat. The trunk is small with the 3rd row is up. Everyone that rides in my car loves it and always compliments how roomy it is.

I have the hybrid that recharges while driving. (Great gas mileage like the same as my old Nissan Altima on gas cost). I have had zero problems and have only needed the regular service items like oil changes. Seats are super comfortable leather. Have had for over 3 years and still love my car. The sunroof opens all the way to back. I only have one child but it has been a wonderful SUV for our family.

The car had a really good feel, it didn’t feel too big, but it had good seat room. However if you have all 3 rows up, there is NO trunk space. Couldn’t fit my stroller.

I have owned this car since it came off the transport truck in 2021. For a family of 3 (two adults and 1 child) this suv has been the perfect size. It’s been reliable through numerous vacations, sporting events, and around town. The only downfall is the air vents in the back are not large and do not provide much air to the back. The trunk space is great and larger than the majority of smaller suvs I looked at. Overall, I’d recommend this vehicle and would buy again for a small family.

We have the Santa Fe Plug-In Hybrid. This car has some great technology like land view when your directional is on (which I have not seen in other car brands). The built in sun shades are great for having little kids. The bench seat is so spacious with the right car seats you can easily fit 3 across. The gas mileage is also another great feature when having the hybrid option. The plug-in feature is nice for around town driving (you get 30 miles on electric). One of my few complaints is to use CarPlay or Android Auto you need to plug it in. It’s not wireless in the Limited trim with the larger screen) Overall this car is great and I love all the space it has to offer while still only having 2 rows.

I LOVE this car. We ended up purchasing it instead of getting the new Santa Fe when our lease was up because it is a dream to drive and has SO much trunk space. I can easily fit a double stroller, plus groceries in the trunk without thinking twice. We’ve been able to configure 2 FF car seats and an infant seat across the second row, which was always my main concern but it works! Really wish the newer Santa Fe’s kept this body and style- we would have gotten a new one!

The Santa Fe has a modern interior with amazing technology. I love how the adaptive cruise control is easy to work and uses radar to monitor the cars around your car on the highway. The second row is comfortable for my kids. It also gets great gas mileage because it’s a hybrid. I drive 20 miles to work every day and usually get 38 MPG!

I mainly picked this bc I’m 5’3” and can’t see over the hood in most SUVs. This is super comfortable to drive and visibility is great. Love the zip this car offers. I can merge into traffic safely and smoothly. It gets great gas mileage due to the hybrid engine I don’t have to fill up nearly as often. The stereo sound is great. The seats are comfortable however, it takes a solid 8-10 minutes for the heat or AC to actually kick in which makes for several minutes of discomfort. Also, it does not have ceiling vents in the second row. Kids get hot! Especially in an infant car seat. The vents are by the door hinge right behind where their water bottles go and they block the airflow. The third row has side vents, but if we’re on a road trip, our bags often cover at least one of the vents. But it is more spacious than other third rows I’ve been in. The trunk is roomy with the 3rd row not in use. Big enough for some groceries if it is. There are limited cupholders, however. Being a family who drinks a lot of beverages it’s pretty tricky on road trips. So we have to make sure to use water bottles that lock shut and keep them in the floor. I’ve had several issues with some of the technology. Occasionally, the audio system just doesn’t connect. Meaning I can’t hear my turn signal click and I can’t listen to any music or podcasts. It usually corrects itself after I turn it off for a while and then turn it back on. There is a lot of heat coming out from under the 2nd row even with the AC all the way up and making sure the heated seats are not on. Dealership has been Jo help with any of my issues. The automatic trunk has been a real pain because it’s so big and slow. It has come close to hitting the car parked behind us multiple times. I’ve timed it and it’s like 10 seconds to fully shut and with three kids it just feels like 10 seconds I don’t have. Overall, great to drive. Technology has much to improve on.

Hyundai doesn’t miss if you want good tech/audio in your vehicle. Best sound system in any car I’ve had. I love Hyundai exterior and I love the Santa Fe pre dog bone tail lights. Interior cloth is so comfortable and durable for kids. Trunk is extra roomy and the car drives so smooth.

This car is great for 2 kids and never using the 3rd row, but unfortunately doesn’t work well for us. There is no way to access the 3rd row with car seats installed in both outboard seats in the second row and we have the bench not captains seats. My elderly mom lives with us so we often have all 5 members of our household together and need to use the third row. This looks like my husband crawling through the trunk with one of the 3rd row seats down to get in and me driving and my mom in the passenger seat or me squeezing in the second row middle seat. I would rather my husband drive most places but I refuse to crawl in and out of the trunk lol not ideal and we will be looking for a different car when we have baby #3 down the road. I do love the tech in this car, the large curved screen feels very modern and is easy to use with CarPlay. I also love the gas mileage as we have the hybrid. The second row bench is pretty comfortable and I’m able to sit between my kids two carseats only mildly squished if needed.

I love this car. This is my first time owning a Hyundai and I will definitely purchase another Hyundai in the future if and when we need to upgrade our second vehicle. The Santa Fe drives so smoothly and the included safety features come standard in all trim levels to my knowledge. The lane maintenance is great, front and side collision warning as well. Adaptable cruise control on long drives combined with lane maintain makes for a much more comfortable long road trip. I like the exterior body and the interior body as well, minus that there are no second row ceiling air vents. I have a rear facing child and airflow is not the greatest for him. The built in sunshades in the second row are a game changer. Super nice feature. Very roomy trunk space can hold our double stroller, carry on suitcases for 4, and more! Would purchase again - great for 2 kids!

Traded in my Pacifica for this and am OBSESSED! I love have the mid-level trim and love all the upgrades and perks. Sunroof and moonroof, which is so fun for the kids. I have twins in high back boosters, and there’s plenty of space. We usually keep the third row down, and there’s tons of trunk space for all the mom things! But when needed, we can use the third row, and there are two full-size seats there. No squishing, and has 3rd for air vents and car seat anchors. Perfect for when a grandparent or extra friend pops in and out. We’ve taken her on road trips and feel comfy with enough room for our family of 4. There’s tons of center console storage which is amazing. I watched a bunch of Kelly’s tour videos and used the budget calculator, and this was the perfect fit for our family. I am so grateful! The ONE thing that drives me crazy is the weird way it automatically unlocks when you are close by. It’s not the best. Otherwise, Can’t recommend this car enough!

We rented this car for over two weeks & although I did enjoy it - it did not feel as spacious as other 3rd row vehicles. With the 3rd row up - there is very little trunk space. We decided to keep the 3rd row down to maximize space whenever we could help it. The technology is great and I appreciated how user friendly it was. The best part of the car for me was that the cup holders actually fit my 30 oz Stanley water bottles. It also had door cup holders which are so convenient when you’re putting kids in their car seats or if you need somewhere to set your stuff. Last thing that was noteworthy to me was that it ONLY has C chargers & no USBs. I have an IPhone 13 with an old usb cable. We had to upgrade so we could charge our phones occasionally. There are two wireless chargers but it can cause your phone to get very hot & I needed that space to set things in.

Owning the 2025 Hyundai Santa Fe Calligraphy is mostly a treat, largely thanks to a first-class cabin and top-tier tech that rival genuine luxury brands. The dual-curved displays, wireless dual phone chargers, and upscale quilted Nappa leather make every commute feel effortless and premium. That said, summer driving reveals its quirks: cranking the AC noticeably saps power from the engine, leaving acceleration sluggish and bogged down when trying to merge or pull away from a dead stop. Add in a fingerprint scanner that occasionally requires a few tries to authenticate your profile, and the ownership experience isn't entirely flawless—even if the interior luxury goes a long way toward making up for it.

This car has been perfect for our family! We have the limited hybrid so the gas mileages is outstanding - we get 550 on a full tank. It seats 5 very comfortably and has great trunk space for our stroller (we use a Silver Cross Nia as our every day stroller) and has tons of room still. There is also storage underneath. It drives smoothly, isn’t as $$ to maintain and uses regular gas vs premium. It has back vents but not on the roof so rear facing babies we use a clip on fan. The cup holders on the doors are not great- you can get a standard plastic water bottle but that’s about it. Nothing over 3inch or that can’t be smushed so that’s not my fav part of the car. I do appreciate that the front seat backs are plastic so the dirty shoes that kick can be wiped off.

I bought my 2024 Santa Fe pre-owned, and got the hybrid. So far I love it. I have 2 kids, and got the bench seat so I can keep the 3rd row down for the majority of the time. This is perfect for us since our other car is a Chevy Traverse. The hybrid is great now that I drive into an office - gas mileage is so good. We weren’t ready for a full electric. Pros: - tech is awesome, love all the camera views, seatbelt alerts for seats, and features. - lots of room in the second row - sunshades & heated 2nd row seats (don’t use now but will) - hybrid: better gas mileage for me - lots of trunk space with 3rd row down - I’ve been able to comfortably sit between my two kids in the second row (both are forward facing in the Graco Slimfit3 LX), and it’s fine. Not super comfortable, but doable for shorter drives Cons: - my car has had 3 no-start days; typically when it was very cold (below 0°), or I hadn’t driven it for a few days. This isn’t the hybrid battery, but the regular car battery - couldn’t do 3 across safely in the second row bench since the middle seatbelt sits behind a car seat - the rear exterior is so flat, not my favorite look, but it doesn’t impact how the car operates

This is my first hybrid car and I’m loving it! I can get almost 600 miles on a tank of gas. It has more tech than I’ve had in my older cars so that’s a treat. The trunk feels spacious with the 3rd row down (my norm) but is tiny with the 3rd row up. The 3rd row is definitely tight for passengers, but I have driven adults back there for a shorter drive. The 2nd row seat belt buckles are pretty rigid and do complicate my car seat install (forward facing, outgrown the latch limits). It’s been comfortable to drive so far. I haven’t experienced a WI winter in it yet but am optimistic it will handle it well.

Amazing car! Highly recommend, the ONLY downfall is there is no celling vents which makes it hot in the second row. We have caption seats and I wish we had a bench.

We rented a brand new Santa Fe, literally off the lot with 8 miles on the odometer for a week long vacation. We have 3 kids: one RF, one infant bucket seat and one in a backless booster. We put the babies in the outboard 2nd row seats and my biggest could have fit in the middle but it would have been a little tight, so she opted for 3rd row. The 3rd row was a little weird in that it sits low and we could barely see the top of her head over the 2nd row, but not a real issue at all. In fact, I think it might help with installation of a taller HB booster or carseat. The technology was a little confusing and weird shifter but good overall. As far as styling, I love the look of the Santa Fe, except for the tailgate. We were very comfortable in this car and fit our family and luggage without issue. Would rent again without hesitation!

We got this car in March of 2023 with one child and now have 2 children with one on the way. Currently our kids are in the Uppa Baby Mesa and Graco SlimFit. As a shorter driver (5'1) clearance for our infant seat is more comfortable for me than my husband, when he drives. The trunk is a great size and fits our UppaBaby Vista 2 well. We have taken our car on numerous road trips and it has great gas milage. Seats are comfortable, the middle seat with 2 car seats is a tight squeeze *can* be done. Overall it is a great car and we are hoping to make 3 across our lifestyle come the spring when our third is here!

We live a ways from a metropolitan area so I drive about an hour and a half daily for my child’s activities and spend a lot of time in my vehicle. I love my Santa Fe. It drives great it’s super comfortable. The tech is incredible for the price point. I live in Wisconsin so having all wheel drive is a must for me the trunk space is fantastic. I am 5’2” and my husband is 6’3” we both comfortably can drive or passenger. There is plenty of room in the backseat for my five-year-old in a forward facing high back booster as well as my 60 pound dog. I’ve also easily fit three across in the backseat, one in a booster, one in a forward-facing high back booster, and one old enough to sit in the middle with no additional car seat or booster.

We live the Santa Fe hybrid! The gas mileage is incredible (30-38mpg!) and I love the boxy look. We have driven on many road trips so far and my 3 boys comfortably fit in the 2nd row. It has good trunk space for the size and would consider buying this car again when our Atlas is done.

Oh man do I miss my Santa Fe! As much as I love our minivan now, this Santa Fe was so fun for the years we had it. It fits 1-2 kids so well for every day use. I would have kept it if we didn’t need a bigger trunk and more space with 2 kids. For one kid? Perfection. The seats are genuinely some of the comfiest I’ve sat in. Gas mileage was pretty good. It felt like a stylish, fun mom car. In the years we had it, we never had issues mechanically or with the tech. Would absolutely recommend!

I had the Hyundai Santa Fe as a rental car for about a week. The car drove nice and was overall a good car. It felt a lot smaller than I anticipated. The model I drove was I think a more base model but compared to the palisade it had a lot less space for a 3-row vehicle and you have to go to a much higher trim level to get some features that come with a lesser trim level with the palisade. That being said overall a good vehicle and still felt safe!

Overall I like our Hyundai Santa Fe 2023 Calligraphy but we purchased it before we knew we were having a third child. While it work: with three across in the back (9yo, 6yo in high back booster and almost 3yo in forward facing convertible car seat) it is tight and we are considering a bigger car that isn’t too huge for city driving like the Lexus TX 350. The ride is very smooth with good acceleration. I don’t like that the back row air vents are only down low on the back of the driver center console (all three of our kids would get car sick as toddlers) and also that the lights in the back can be turned on by my children and there is no way to turn them off from the front seat. The blue link navigation system was adequate but we would sometimes find quicker routes on Google Maps etc. Great trunk space, fits three hockey bags plus some. I love the front/rear cameras- seem to be very high detail. Also appreciate the “looking from the top” camera- makes it so easy to park between the lines. Overall great car but I would say better for families with two kids!

We rented the SantaFe for vacation and loved the drive. We had the AWD and was the quietest and most comfortable drive I’ve had. It was so quiet it made us wonder if we should trade in our Kia Carnival! The interior was beautiful and we loved then front dashboard. I would drive this again in a heart beat. The only dealbreaker for us was trunk space.

We downsized to this car because we felt like our previous cars (palisade and GLS) were bigger than we needed and as commuters and living in a big city we cared more about having better gas mileage and a smaller car. The thing is we don’t even feel like we downsized! The cab size feels big, the second row leg room is good With two forward facing car seat but I don’t really fit in between the car seats but a different seat combo might be better. The third row is actually doable for an adult or car seat when we use it. When the third row is down the trunk is huge. We also love the technology, console space for phone and cups and overall storage in the car. The chargers work well and CarPlay usually seamlessly connect. Overall I like the drive but I haven’t had other hybrids so not sure how it compares. My only complaint is that I feel like it’s loud when on the interstate. It doesn’t bother my husband but I notice it. Overall we are very happy we made the move and it’s great car for a family with 2 kids in car seats.

While there are many things I love about this vehicle, it has been totally unreliable for me in over the past year. My experience has been plagued by near constant recall notices and, so far, five trips to the dealership for repetitive emissions issues that trigger the check engine light. It’s a hard pill to swallow given that it’s still very new. Things I love about this vehicle are the roomy interior feel given the boxy design, technology and modern styling. While not the most spacious of all options, we find the third row to be comfortable enough for occasional adult usage. The trunk room with the third row up is very minimal but we have arranged the car in a way that it works for two adults, one toddler (in second row) and two dogs (in third row) when we travel for weekend trips. While I love many things about this car, I would struggle to recommend it to anyone given the lack of reliability for my family.

My car is actually the 2020 but that wasn’t a drop-down option. We’ve had it for 6 years and bought it before we had kids. Love the truck space, can pack so much in there! Didn’t consider kids and car seats before we bought it especially as we are about to have our third and the 2nd row is tight. It’s a great car for a family of 3 or 4 unless an adult wants to sit in between two car seats on a long car trip to entertain the kids. Haven’t had any trouble with the car itself. Doesn’t have ceiling vents and didn’t think that would be an issue but I live in the south and for a rear facing it gets really hot. Overall been a good car, just wish we had bought something with a third row knowing we wanted at least 4 kids.

We bought this car as an upgrade from a Mazda CX5. We have two kids in car seats (at the time one rear facing and one forward facing) and we’re looking for something bigger - primarily for an optional 3rd row, and just more overall space. I want to also point out that I’m 5’2” and my husband is 5’7”. I test drove several of the mid size SUVs, and ultimately went with the Santa Fe Hybrid for a few reasons: 3rd row option - even though the truck is teeny when the 3rd row is in use, we wanted to have the 3rd row for when we had family visiting. Having the 3rd row and keeping the seats down primarily also give me a huge trunk. Note the SF has 2 seats in the 3rd row which makes it roomy width wise and is a breeze for car seats. I’ve sat back there for a 3 hr drive and was comfortable! Bench option with all the amenities I wanted - this wasn’t always the case in the other SUVs we looked at, but the Limited trim had everything I wanted and a bench! Since we are done with 2 kids, the bench is for reducing projectiles with the 3rd row down. Technology - since it was redesigned, the SF has all the new tech like wireless CarPlay and a big beautiful wrap around front console screen Hybrid - environmentally friendly was very important to me, our other car is a Tesla, so being able to get a hybrid was amazing!! Overall size - my husband and I are short, and I found that in a lot of the mid size SUVs I was feeling swallowed in the seat or just too small. The SF gave me the perfect combo of getting a bigger car than I had without feeling like I was driving something so huge (for me). Also love that I can reach back to the kids as needed when driving! Overall I’ve loved the car so far and have had no issues with it. It’s perfect for my family! Though I’d say, if the new Palisade hybrid had been available at the time, I may have gone with that one for the additional space (if the price was right). I could see us upgrading to that when the kids are bigger!
