I test drove the Lexus RX when I was looking for our next family car, and I really wanted to love it. The drive was amazing and the car itself was beautiful. It had that comfortable, luxurious feel I was looking for, and I really enjoyed driving it. Ultimately, though, I decided not to purchase it because it was too small for my growing family with two little ones. With two kids, especially when you’re dealing with rear-facing car seats, strollers, and all the things that come along with having little kids, I just didn’t feel like there was enough space for us. For a smaller family, I think this could be a fantastic option. But for my family at that stage, I needed something with more room and flexibility. My biggest takeaway: Beautiful car, great drive, and very comfortable—but for a mom with two little kids, I would personally choose something with more space.

I would recommend this car if you have 2 or less kids who are no longer in need of car seats. If you have kids in car seats the lack of ceiling vents make it hot in the back seat. It does have great cargo space. You can’t beat the reliability though. This car has plenty of pluses for those who want luxury and have older kids but I would not recommend for those with young families. Its a decent grandparent car though.

Firstly, for a regular driver of a car, I LOVE this car. It drives so smooth and it's super comfortable. The tech is fine, it could be better, but for the price point it's expected. As a parent, this car works great for 1 or 2 kids. When I added a 3rd, it became difficult to figure out a car seat setup. It did fit 3 Diono Radian 3Rs across, but once my oldest transferred to a booster, it became impossible to fit all 3 across. We're about ready to move my second into a booster and I'm curious to see if I'll be able to fit 3 kids again once we only have one real car seat.

Great for myself and 1 kid rear facing on passenger side; however when you add a second kid and need rear facing behind driver you will have issues. I’m only 5’5 and my Doona would barely fit behind driver side. The Doona also was a pain to get in the car because you had to go sideways with it and then turn it after clearing the door because of lack of door opening all the way. There also are no ceiling vents which is a big bummer for rear facing kids. Great reliability and performance, never once had issues.

Truly loved this car and the high end feel! LOVED the trunk space and being able to just throw a stroller in without taking off wheels laying sideways etc. I was able to have three across in car seats (all 5yrs old and younger.) I had a graco pumpkin seat and two Diono car seats and then swapped one of the Dionos to a booster with no problem. **I owned a slightly older model and drove this while mine was repaired.

We bought our Lexus RX a couple years before we had a baby and absolutely loved it as a childfree couple. It is fun to drive, extremely comfortable, and the tech is great. The front and second rows are super comfortable for up to 4 adults. We have had zero issues beyond routine maintenance, and it has not been super expensive to maintain or insure. We also have driven the newer body style RX (I think starting 2023 and on) and we prefer our 2021. It has a touch screen and a track pad and the track pad is honestly so helpful! When our baby was born, we started with a Nuna Pipa Aire RX car seat and noticed we definitely had to push the passenger seat more forward than we would prefer, but my husband (6’1”) and I (5’8”) fit pretty comfortably. We recently swapped to a Cybex Callisto (pictured) which takes up a little more room front to back, but we still fit in the passenger seat. We live in the city and this is currently our only car. In terms of space, this car would fit two car seats fine but we expect to get a second, bigger car when we have another kid. An adult probably wouldn’t fit between two car seats in the second row and our dog wouldn’t fit. The trunk, while spacious, is not quite as tall as I would prefer since the rear window slopes down quite a bit. We typically leave our travel stroller (bugaboo butterfly) in the trunk and can fit whatever we need along with that. Our bugaboo fox full size stroller takes up the entire trunk so we prefer to use that for walks around the neighborhood.
