2021 Hyundai Tucson

While my overall rating isn't great because the technology wasn't there (it was a 2016 but it wouldn't let me go back that far), I would recommend this car to any Mom with 2 kids or less and on a budget! It took me almost 9 years...starting with no kids, to 1 kid and finally had to say goodbye when we welcomed our 3rd. It had plenty of trunk space and never any issues!

As a family of 3, only one kid - this works for us! We have a truck as our other vehicle and I am on the shorter side. This fits us well for daily use. Longer weekend trips we use the truck. This would also be a fantastic car for a teen driver. The tech is amazing and easy to use. Love having the bigger screen but still having buttons. Have had ZERO mechanical issues, very reliable.

Owned this car for 5+ years before needing to upgrade to a three-row SUV. Car was good for a first-time mom, was able to have one rear-facing car seat without issue. Trunk space was great, was able to transport all the baby-related items. Space got tricky when needing to use every seat. Reliability decreased significantly after the 5 year mark of ownership with various random failures including catalytic converter and needing oil topped off every 21 days.

This car can comfortably hold an infant seat and another passenger in the back seat. It’s a great car for a 4 person family, I don’t see how it would realistically work for a family of 5. The trunk can easily fit a stroller, but not tons of room for much else.

Rented this car for 5 days while in Vancouver. My 6 year old was in a Chicco backless booster behind driver seat and my 10 year old was in the middle, no car seat. I was sitting behind passenger seat. We all fit, but was super tight and uncomfortable. The buckle for the booster was not very easy to access, especially when my middle child was trying to buckle in the same location. Might work for 4 people max and infant car seats/convertibles that don't need daily access to the buckles. The interior was basic but sufficient for our purpose. Definitely wouldn't recommend for long term family car but short commutes and second car would be fine.

Works great for two kids. My double stroller fits in the trunk with room for other things. The front row leg room is a little tight with car seats. I would definitely get slim car seats. Also a little tight sitting between two car seats but that’s to be expected. We have the maxi cosí mico and the Chicco fif3x cleartex ultra slim all-in-one

My Tucson is a 2022, but I’m reviewing here on the 2020 since that model year isn’t up yet. I love the style of the Tucson and it has been great for us with one and two kids so far. Definitely not 3-across friendly, but if you want a sporty mid-sized SUV with good basic tech, the Tucson is your car!

This car was great till about 100k miles. We drove her from the east coast to Colorado. She (yes it was a she) did great on long road trips to California as well. We started having major issues once we hit 100k and we ended up trading her in once the resale value was the same as what it would’ve cost to fix her. I even had a mechanic tell me “these cars are great till about 100k miles and then it all goes downhill.” Overall it was fine but I wouldn’t choose it again for reliability. Aesthetically it was fine, and worked with two kids, but the trunk space was a bit squishy and the second row definitely wasn’t great with multiple children in car seats. I would go in a different direction if you’re planning on having more than two kids or large dogs!
