We have a 2023 civic si as my husbands daily driver and he transports 2 of our kids in forward facing car seats to school daily. It works fine for this. The kids are comfortable but still small. We have also taken it on shorter road trips and it worked fine but not the most comfortable.

This was my sister in law's college car and hear me out. I think this car would do well with kids! She had this car when she was pregnant with her first baby and we were able to get a doona in and out of the back doors with relative ease and the trunk space was actually kind of killer. I don't think the car would handle multiples well, but if you have this car and only have one kiddo, I truly think it would be great!

Just came here to say this was a great car and CAN work for babies. Carried my baby from newborn through three years old in this car. If you need reliability + gas mileage friendly but can't go with an EV, this is a great option. Obviously, no rear air and lack of space for strollers, etc.. is a hurdle but it can be done.
